We made a mistake when visiting the Natural History Museum of Utah. Since we have still only visited this state in passing, we didn’t plan to spend much time here and stopped by on a whim two hours before close. Not only do they have outdoor exhibits and trails around the museum that you can visit without admission, but the inside is extremely innovative with some of the most interactive exhibits we’ve experienced. As people who enjoy reading every word in the museum and taking our time to experience everything there is to offer, we would need at least three full days to get through all five stories. The museum alone is enough to make us want to go visit SLC more extensively.

What are some of your favorite books/series? Both kid and adult.

If there’s something that our family has always found value in and has enjoyed, it’s books. A strong, literate individual has the ability to impact the world at a much higher degree and cause true change to take place. Read and learn as much as you can every single day. Knowledge is power.

🌲 Strawberry Mountain 🌲
-
Strawberry Mountain Wilderness is a wilderness area of the Strawberry Mountain Range, within Malheur National Forest in the Blue Mountains of east Oregon. The area comprises 69,350 acres (28,060 ha), including mountain peaks and several lakes, and contains more than 125 miles (201 km) of hiking trails. Strawberry Mountain was designated wilderness under the Wilderness Act of 1964, and in 1984 more than doubled in size with the passage of the Oregon Wilderness Act.
-
The mountain, and nearby Strawberry Creek, were named by homesteader, Nathan Wills Fisk, "because there were wild strawberries in abundance there..." It was originally named "Strawberry Butte", but common usage changed it to Strawberry Mountain, which now appears on official maps.

🏰 Pittock Mansion 🏰
-
This is one of the views from the mansion. It’s a 16,000 square foot French Renaissance style home. It was designed by architect Edward T. Foulkes who trained at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the French École des Beaux-Arts. Foulkes had a challenging client in Henry Pittock—Henry wanted an architecturally impressive house with the latest technology.
-
This mansion and the original inhabitants (Henry Pittock and Georgiana Burton) were some of the pioneers in helping make Portland what it is today. Portland was a frontier “stumptown” competing with Oregon City to become the major trade and industrial center for the region at the time and the Pittocks really helped push that win forward.

Here it is! The first leg of our adventure going through northern Nevada and California with the bus. How did we make the incline in Northern California with the bus? Probably because we had the best driver on this side of the Mississippi and the other side of the Mississippi as well. Just the best driver in general. No overheating, no blown transmission, proper pull-offs, traversing narrow roads! How? Again, because of the whole best driver thing. Follow our adventure 🚌
