Strong to possibly severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening
across the northern half of the state. High wind gusts will be the
most widespread threat, with large hail and an isolated tornado
possible in northwestern areas.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday.

Tuesday...Strong thunderstorms possible in the south. Much cooler
East of the Divide.

Thursday and Friday...Scattered showers and thunderstorms will
continue in the afternoon and evening.

County through 330 PM MDT...

At 310 PM MDT, the public reported a strong thunderstorm near
Paradise Valley, which is also near Casper, moving south at 15 mph.

HAZARD...Half inch hail.

IMPACT...Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible.

This strong thunderstorm will be near...
Beartrap Meadows County Park around 325 PM MDT.

This includes Interstate 25 between mile markers 188 and 189.

Today, April 29, 2023, Casper Mountain Fire Department had a controlled slash pile burn. Weather conditions were so favorable they cut some fire-line and burned an area to help with the safety and control of the slash pile burn area. A big THANK YOU to the volunteers who showed up and participated to help make this a successful day.
We want to remind everyone that the pile will continue to burn for approximately a week. During this time, department personnel will continuously check up on the progress. PLEASE DO NOT call 911 if there is minimal flame and smoldering inside the slash pile-bermed area.

June 29, 2023 prescribed slash pile burn. Please share.

A Prescribed burn will be taking place on Casper Mountain on Saturday April 29, 2023. The Casper Mountain Fire District will be burning the slash pile located on Tower Hill which is South East of the Bear Trap Meadow area. There may be smoke visible from the Casper Metro area however, residents should not be alarmed.
This is an annual event that ensures the fuel load in the slash pile is lessened before fire season as well as gives fire fighters training and refreshing their skills.

Road UPDATE
Hello Casper Mountain Residents,
Hopefully, you are surviving the storm.

Have Spoken with WYDOT, and they are trying to have a couple of rotary blowers for the HWY 251 portion. The dugout area near Garden Creek is blowing in as fast as they can clear it. Due to this, this area is unpassable and needs more snow removal done before being opened up.
The County was up today also working on the roads and was able to make a pass (approximately 1 - 1 1/2 lanes) to the west towers on Micro, south to Manley Intersection, and up to Tower Hill Campground entrance. They will continue to work on the roads and hopefully get us dug out soon.
The Deputy has an Argo stationed up here for any emergencies, hopefully we have none.

Hello Casper Mountain Residents,
I have spoke to the County and they are working at getting roads cleared as soon as possible. They have been working with the State who is having problems clearing Casper Mountain Road due to the amount of snow and equipment being used elsewhere. Currently it is looking like it may be this weekend before anything is possibly opened up. Will keep you updated as new information becomes available.
As a reminder please use caution under eaves from falling snow and remember to keep furnace and other exhausts clear.

The plow has made a pass, but the road will most likely remain CLOSED until the wind dies down. The wind is the problem and drifting in as quick as they are clearing it. They are trying to keep it passable for emergency vehicles in case they are needed.

Casper Mountain Road OPEN

Crews are still trying to get Casper Mountain Rd open. Due to the wind it’s very difficult to keep it clear.

Have no new details as if they will open Casper Mountain Road today.
They have allowed some residents to travel due to their needs.

Casper Mountain Road is still CLOSED!
DO NOT TRY TO GO DOWN

Drifts across Casper Mtn Rd at least 4' high

They have heavy equipment working on the road and are getting crews transported to get more equipment to help.

Attention Mtn Residents: Casper Mountain Rd is CLOSED. The road is drifted, and they are working on getting it open. They are using snowcat to get County Crew up here to have them help clear the road. DO NOT USE MOUNTAIN ROAD.
