Part of the Shih Tzu and Furbabies Rescues mission statement is education, so be educated. Buying a dog from a pet store, or a breeder is NOT adopting a dog. Buying from a pet store supports people who breed as a business, with no care for the animals they are using and abusing - and an 8 or 11 year old dog who has had 2 litters a year since her first heat, at 7 months, for a total of 17 litters of puppies, is being abused. Did you know that one of the largest pet store chains has all employees sign an NDA at hiring? And that sweet couple with just a few puppies to pay for xmas for the kids? That too, is business, not adoption. When an applicant wants the ‘unicorn’ adoption - a young, socialized, housetrained, kid friendly purebred female, and couldn’t wait 10 days past their home visit, or less than a month since their original application submission, to feed the pet industry greed, this little girl is now available for some one who understands the difference between adoption and business.
