Franklin double homicide still unsolved 12 years later

FRANKLIN, Ind. – Tuesday marks 12 years since a 10-year-old boy and his stepmom were found murdered in a Franklin home and the case is still unsolved.

On July 24, 2006, Blake and Chynna Dickus were murdered. Both were stabbed and police said Blake was also beaten and smothered.

Blake’s mom, Christina Dickus, is still searching for answers. Her son would have been 22 this year.

“I have my days and this time of the year is very hard,” she said.

They were found in a home on the 1100 block of Aberdeen Drive. Detectives say they have received nearly 600 tips over the years but still no luck finding the person who killed them.

One possible link could be a string of unsolved home burglaries from around the time of the murders. Most of those burglaries happened within a half mile radius of where Chynna and Blake Dickus were murdered, but police say one happened on the same street on the same day.

“We are still working on those cases. We feel that is one possible scenario that may have been involved but until we solve those burglaries we don’t know for sure,” said Detective Scott Carter.

Dickus was pleading for the community to call the police if they know anything about this case. If you have information that can help solve this, call the Franklin Police Department at 317- 346-1142, you can also remain anonymous by calling 317-346-1100.

“I just beg for their help for justice and to keep another family from having to go through the heart ache every day,” she said.

A reward of $25,000 is offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person, or persons responsible for the murders of Blake and Chynna Dickus.

Mercer Island John Doe 2018

Description
On May 6, 2018 the body of a man in his 50’s to 60’s was found floating in Lake Washington off the shore on the south end of Mercer Island, Washington. The deceased wore only black socks. An autopsy conducted by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office established the man to be approx. 5′ 4″ tall and weighing approx. 120 pounds. The deceased was possibly of Asian descent. Authorities were unable to determine how long the man had been deceased, but believe it could have been a number of weeks. Cause of death was drowning and the manner was undetermined.

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. — Indiana State Police are attempting to locate a missing La Porte woman who was last traced to Tippecanoe County.

Shari Diaz, 53, is listed as being 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing 200 pounds. She has blonde hair and blue eyes.

Indiana State Police Investigators said Diaz’s last known whereabouts were in Tippecanoe County on Jan. 6.

MUNCIE, Ind. – A statewide Silver Alert was declared for a missing 16-year-old out of Muncie.

According to the Muncie Police Department, Haylee Cummings was last seen on Wednesday, January 19 at 7:15 am.

Authorities describe Cummings as white, female, 5 feet 4 inches tall, and weighing 145 pounds. She has brown eyes with brown hair and was last seen wearing a pastel multicolored sweater, black leggings, and gray and white shoes.

According to police, she is believed to be in a gold GMC Sonoma extended cab truck with unknown Georgia plates.

She is believed to be in extreme danger and may require medical assistance.

Kilgore Jane Doe 2000

Description
On December 23, 2000 human remains were found between a railroad track and a creek in a wooded area along Spinks Chapman Road about 5 miles northeast of Kilgore, Texas. Clothes found at the scene were a white Adidas® shirt with black stripes on the sleeve, blue jeans, white bra and panties, and brown leather shoes from Mexico. Forensic investigators determined the remains to be female, 30-50 years old, approximately 4’0″ to 5’2″ tall, weighing about 115 lbs. While initially thought to be African American, DNA results from Parabon Nano Labs, Inc. indicate she was of mostly Central American heritage, likely with indigenous ancestry. The analysis also showed the woman had black hair, brown or dark eyes, and light brown skin. Authorities believe the woman died sometime between 1999 and 2000.

CRAWFORD COUNTY, Indiana — A Silver Alert was issued for a missing Crawford County man.

Nathaniel Woods, 26, went missing on Dec. 4, 2021 from Milton, Indiana. That is about 120 miles south of Indianapolis.

Woods is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, 135 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

He is believed to be in extreme danger and may require medical assistance.

Wayne Co Jane Doe 1982

Description
While hiking along Martindale Creek north of Jacksonburg, Indiana, on December 26, 1982, hunters discovered the skeletal remains of a woman in the fork of a tree. Clothing found with the woman did not indicate she was out for a walk–she wore high-heeled wooden soled clogs. She was clothed in a blue, long-sleeved button up blouse; a white bra; gray slacks with a stretch panel; long blue or gray knit socks; and a blue nylon jacket. She also wore a gold ring with an opal and two diamonds. Officials determined the woman to be Caucasian with brown hair, approximately 18-22 years old, and about 5’3” – 5’7” tall. No cause of death could be determined, but investigators suspect foul play. Initial indications were she had been dead for up to 8 months.

Help ID Me

IN INDIANA
On May 3, 1992 the remains of an unidentified female were found in Lebanon, Boone County, Indiana. Her body was found at the bottom of a hill off State Route 47 leading onto the northbound ramp of Interstate 65. It's estimated she had been deceased under a week.
The female is described to be Caucasian, 17-22 years old. She stood approximately 5'6" tall and weighed around 130 pounds. She had very short reddish-brown hair. The female had multiple tattoos. One tattoo on her upper right arm spelled "MOM" and another of a cross on her right hand. She also had two tattoos on her right breast, one being the word "LOVE" and the other was a cross with two hearts.
