DID YOU KNOW THAT...
* The first card of the Christmas was sent in 1843 and John Horsley designed it. The reason was to spread love and happiness among the people during Christmas.
* Canada was the country who issued a stamp of Christmas postage for the first time.
* In the United States Christmas was declared as a public holiday in 1870.
* The tailored Santa costume was wored for the first time by James Edgar in 1890.
* Originally the day of Christmas was celebrated on Janyary 6th.
* "Jingle Bells" was originally a Thanksgiving song. Then in 1857, the song was re-published under the title it still holds today, and it eventually became one of the most popular Christmas songs.
* Celebrating Christmas used to be illegal from 1659 to 1681
* The term "Xmas" dates back to the 1500s. "Christianity" was spelled "Xianity" as far back as 1100. X, or Chi, in Greek is the first letter of "Christ" and served as a symbolic stand-in. In 1551, the holiday was called "Xtemmas" but eventually shortened to "Xmas." In reality, Xmas is just as Christian as the longer version.
