Everyday is women's day, so as we celebrate womanhood, let us also commemorate these five women who were chosen as individuals who displayed remarkable leadership skills during the school's team building activity at JCFC grounds, last Monday, March 18, 2024.

Despite of participating in a male-dominated activity, Rica C. Chica, Dizzie Dizon, Chesky C. Mariano, Mariah Thea R. Bundalian and Kristine L. Atendido didn't flinch and still chose to stand out among one-hundred student leaders from different departments and organizations by leading their respective teams in victory.

This bold move catched the eyes of the facilitators which made them awarded as the most outstanding student leaders during the team building proper, proving that women can also excel in any male-dominated activities.

As part of the Capacity Development 2024 Seminar titled Navigating the Nexus: Developing Leadership and Journalism Capacities on Campus, a team building activity was conducted to test the student leaders' unity and leadership skills at JCFC grounds, last Monday, March 18, 2024.

The team building activity consisted of one hundred participants from different departments and organizations who were then grouped by four and tasked to create a team name and a yell. Each teams were given a sufficient amount of time to brainstorm and prepare for their yell presentation. The first group to perform were the group three the Fearless Nexus Team headed by their team leader Rica C. Chica followed by the group two the Kusad Manawari Team with their team leader Chesky C. Mariano, next in line were the group one the Ace One Team led by Kristine L. Atendido and the last group to perform were the Lead Team spearheaded by Manny M. Miranda Jr.

The said activity was facilitated by Ms. Jessica Lenon, Mr. David Daniel Astrero and Mr. John Paolo Malonzo who then prepared three different team building games which were intended to test the student leaders' unity and leadership capabilities, the first team who will finish all three courses the fastest will win.

The first challenge that the participants faced is called 'Get Me Out of Here' facilitated by Ms. Jessica Lenon in which each groups has to choose eight to ten representatives to try to get the ball out of the ring using sticks only and they were not allowed to touch the ball using their free hand. They can change players every one minute and the fastest group will win the round. The Kusad Manawari Team played first and ended up finishing the task after six minutes and seven seconds (06:07) followed by the Ace One Team who surpassed the first team's time with three minutes and fifty-eight seconds (03:58), the Lead Team came after with the time of four minutes and thirty-four seconds (04:34) and the Fearless Nexus Team played last with eight minutes and twenty-seven seconds (08:27) leaving the Ace One Team as the winner of the first game.

The 'Water Bender' game came next as the second challenge to play which is facilitated by Mr. David Daniel Astrero. In this challenge, six to eight participants from each teams need to lay on their backs and balance the provided empty bucket using their strongest foot while the non-participating members need to find the nearest water source to fill the empty bucket with water while still balancing it, the fastest team to finish the task will be the winner of the round. The first team to tackle the task were the Lead Team which ended up with four minutes and seven seconds (04:07), the Ace One Team came afterwards beating once again the first team's time with three minutes and twenty-six seconds (03:26), followed by the Fearless Nexus Team with five minutes and two seconds (05:02) and the Kusad Manawari Team with seven minutes and sixteen second (07:16) leaving the Ace One Team again as the fastest team to finish.

The third task on the other hand is called 'Flip It' which is facilitated by Mr. John Paolo Malonzo. In this game, eight participants from each team needs to flip the tarpaulin upside down while stepping on it, non-participating members can help by assisting the representatives but they were not allowed to lift them up then flip the tarpaulin, each violation will cost them additional three seconds on their total time. The Fearless Nexus Team were the first group to take part on the challenge and ended up finishing it in ten minutes and thirty-three seconds (10:33) following them were the Kusad Manawari Team with five minutes and fifteen seconds (05:15), Ace One Team came after who again and again gained the shortest time of two minutes and thirty-four seconds (02:34) and Lead Team played lastly and was able to complete the challenge in four minutes and fifty-seven seconds (04:57).

To ease up the tension about the forementioned activity, a group game was conducted by the team building facilitators wherein all teams must come together as one and build a bridge using folders and has a goal of shooting the pingpong balls at the the end of the line, this game required great leadership and coordination skills and served as another chance for Felician Leaders to show their unity and leadership capabilities.

The awarding of certificates and medals came afterwards crowning the Ace One Team as Team Building 2024 Champion after finishing all challenges the fastest with nine minutes and eighteen seconds (09:18). Student leaders who showed exceptional leadership skills were also awarded with medals together with all the participants who on the other hand received certificates ending the day with new found friends, core memories and big smiles.

On the 18th of March, 2024, the much anticipated leadership and capacity building program for college's student representatives from various organizations and classroom president embarked at the JCFC- Greenville Grand Hall. The facilitators, prior to the commencement of the program, work in liaison with the various student leaders' wrapping the atmosphere of the place with a connection and relationship amongst all.

The program kicks-off with the introduction of the Master of the Ceremony, Mr. Nhey Cardinoza, to the first guest speaker- a Chairperson of the Bagani Pampanga, Ms. Timmy Jane Bacungan LPT, who opened a topic about the Characteristics of a 21st Century Leader in an analogical way of using the Characters of the movie "Encanto"

In her very captivating and engaging presentation, Ms. Bacungan discussed the characteristics of a leader everyone must possess by tackling the characters of the well-known movie Encanto and the qualities of leadership that each of them were mastered which makes the talk more alluring and fun. At last, Ms. Bacungan emphasizes the importance of pursuing one's dream by simply not paying attention to what people might say, yet still keeping it all as a motivation.

Moving on, She also talks about the roots where our leadership skills are being developed, and these are our home, school, and community. She ended her short but full-of-knowledge remark by reminding every student leader that leadership is within all of us, just like in the movie, Encanto, where everyone possesses a miracle, we don't have to look far beyond to find the miracle we're looking for because the miracle we've been searching has always been on us- encapsulated, yet can be nurtured.

Continually, The second guest speaker, Mr. Gian Mark Tutanes, was also introduced by Mr. Nhey Cardinoza. His talk is all about A Home: Building the Foundation, and Strengthening the Relationship. He emphasizes the importance of knowing oneself in order to become a good and effective leader, likewise the significance of unity and having connections with everyone to be able to achieve something great.

Mr. Tutanes also talks about ways to strengthen the student leaders' relationships with others, which are to connect, synergize, and harmonize. He ended the talk with the saying "Ikaw ang Hiraya, Tayo ang Hiraya", where Hiraya means the fruit of one's hope, dreams and aspirations. Lastly, he added the quote "Makisama, makipagbayanihan at makipagtulungan dahil wala ng mas hihigit pa sa lider na tinutulungan na iangat ang iba bago ang sarili niya" boosting the morale of the participants.

After the long-hour seminar, a team building games were started-off testing the camaraderie, leadership and thinking skills of each student leader. It ended up with the selection of those students awardee who infused exemptional performance to contest.

In the long run, the event succeeded in nurturing the leadership skills that each student leaders' possess. They also acquire the thinking of how to be an effective leader and how important it is to not just lead but also to follow. And lastly, as the role model in the community, it is now in their hands to build someone to become a future leader, testing their effectiveness as one of the catalysts of change.

On March 18, 2024, an exciting and meaningful event unfolded at the grand hall of Jose C. Feliciano College Foundation. It was a day filled with anticipation as the Leadership and Journalism Training Program brought together college department organizations and different course presidents. The program's main goal was to nurture the students' writing skills in their native language and inspire them to become future leaders.

Guiding the program was Mr. Gemmar Lumot, a well-respected faculty member and adviser of the JCFC College Supreme Student Council. Alongside him, Mr. Rheynald Cardinoza, the co-adviser of the Felician Gazette, added his expertise as the master of ceremonies, setting the stage for an engaging and insightful event.

Before the program started, Atty. Manuel Feliciano shared a warm and welcoming speech, setting a positive tone for the day. In the opening remarks, Mr. Rheynald Cardinoza introduced Dr. Reggie Cruz, LOT, CHRO, EdD, PhD, as the new dean of the Institute of Teachers Education (ITED). Dr. Cruz's speech emphasized the importance of promoting the use of the Kapampangan language, reflecting the college's commitment to preserving local culture.

The highlight of the day was the speech delivered by Dr. Reggie Cruz, a highly accomplished individual with impressive credentials. His words resonated with the students, inspiring them to strive for excellence and embrace their potential as future leaders in their chosen fields.

Additionally, Dr. Cruz emphasized the importance of the first language. He added that, it is okay to embrace different languages as long as we use our mother tongue in our daily conversation. According to him, we should encourage the students and the younger generation to use our Kapampangan language to be known and to be preserved. Moreover, he mentioned that he encountered multiple reasons why our native language is slowly fading. First is due to the students being penalized for using their native language. The other reason is they find it hard to write and publish books, article, magazine and etc., that is written in kapampangan language, considering that the English and Tagalog language is much more convenient than the Kapampangan language.

The concluded event was a testament to the college student leaders' dedication in providing a holistic education and preparing students for success. It was a day filled with inspiration, learning, and the promise of a bright future for all who attended.

As quoted by Dr. Cruz, "Don't be afraid to express yourself to your surroundings just by using your own language . It is important to use and express our native language. We have our own way of using our language in writing, let's make it flourish. Let our voices be heard through our first language."

In a unified stance, this Monday's Flag Ceremony, the Jose C. Feliciano College Foundation supports the "Black Monday" nationwide campaign launched by the Philippine Association of Maritime Institution (PAMI) inlined with the opposition to the Chapter XVIII of the Magna Carta for Filipino Seafarers- vehemently repudiating its consequences. Wherein if this proposed bill is signed by the President, the Philippine Association of Maritime Institution (PAMI) claims the feasible outcome that all aspiring seafarers might face, including ;

โ€ข The Increased of tuition fees for maritime students (approximately 200,000PHP)

โ€ข The possible closure of Maritime Institutions and Academies

โ€ข A decreased supply of seafarers in the Philippines, and much more.

With such an unbearable bill penned through the chapter, we, aspiring felician seafarers do amplify our voices to be heeded and be heard enough in abolishing the Magna Carta For Seafarers Chapter XVIII.

Say,

"NO TO MCFS 18"
(Magna Carta for Filipino Seafarers Chapter XVIII)

The college's student representatives converged at the JCFC Grandhall for the most preceded Capacity Development Seminar and Training earlier today, March 18, 2024.

The participants from the different organizations and classroom presidents of the college department were geared up to progress with the event as they propel, with the Bagani-pampanga Guest speakers, to navigate the nexusโ€”a journey of developing the students' leadership skills and journalism adequacy. With this inline, the students are perceived to be more equipped with a ream of knowledge useful for their ability to lead, thus forging a bind as the catalyst of change.

All are capable despite being diversified, yet boxed in that four-walled building, whose leader will come out and prevail to be the next Tuner of Harmony.

The third week of JCFC's Reading Remedial Project was held successfully with the help of the Future Mentors Guild's (FMG) students together with their adviser Ma'am Shanine Costorio at Pila Elemtary School, Wednesday, March 13.

This week's main goal is to harness the grade two students' reading and comprehension skills with the help of the activities that were prepared by the FMG students.

Despite the noisy environment and other distractions around, the students still aced their activities and proudly showed off their high scores. This proves that nothing can distract and stop you from learning if you have the determination.
