On the 18th of March, 2024, the much anticipated leadership and capacity building program for college's student representatives from various organizations and classroom president embarked at the JCFC- Greenville Grand Hall. The facilitators, prior to the commencement of the program, work in liaison with the various student leaders' wrapping the atmosphere of the place with a connection and relationship amongst all.
The program kicks-off with the introduction of the Master of the Ceremony, Mr. Nhey Cardinoza, to the first guest speaker- a Chairperson of the Bagani Pampanga, Ms. Timmy Jane Bacungan LPT, who opened a topic about the Characteristics of a 21st Century Leader in an analogical way of using the Characters of the movie "Encanto"
In her very captivating and engaging presentation, Ms. Bacungan discussed the characteristics of a leader everyone must possess by tackling the characters of the well-known movie Encanto and the qualities of leadership that each of them were mastered which makes the talk more alluring and fun. At last, Ms. Bacungan emphasizes the importance of pursuing one's dream by simply not paying attention to what people might say, yet still keeping it all as a motivation.
Moving on, She also talks about the roots where our leadership skills are being developed, and these are our home, school, and community. She ended her short but full-of-knowledge remark by reminding every student leader that leadership is within all of us, just like in the movie, Encanto, where everyone possesses a miracle, we don't have to look far beyond to find the miracle we're looking for because the miracle we've been searching has always been on us- encapsulated, yet can be nurtured.
Continually, The second guest speaker, Mr. Gian Mark Tutanes, was also introduced by Mr. Nhey Cardinoza. His talk is all about A Home: Building the Foundation, and Strengthening the Relationship. He emphasizes the importance of knowing oneself in order to become a good and effective leader, likewise the significance of unity and having connections with everyone to be able to achieve something great.
Mr. Tutanes also talks about ways to strengthen the student leaders' relationships with others, which are to connect, synergize, and harmonize. He ended the talk with the saying "Ikaw ang Hiraya, Tayo ang Hiraya", where Hiraya means the fruit of one's hope, dreams and aspirations. Lastly, he added the quote "Makisama, makipagbayanihan at makipagtulungan dahil wala ng mas hihigit pa sa lider na tinutulungan na iangat ang iba bago ang sarili niya" boosting the morale of the participants.
After the long-hour seminar, a team building games were started-off testing the camaraderie, leadership and thinking skills of each student leader. It ended up with the selection of those students awardee who infused exemptional performance to contest.
In the long run, the event succeeded in nurturing the leadership skills that each student leaders' possess. They also acquire the thinking of how to be an effective leader and how important it is to not just lead but also to follow. And lastly, as the role model in the community, it is now in their hands to build someone to become a future leader, testing their effectiveness as one of the catalysts of change.
