In our lives, we have goals, focuses, and pursuits. Having these, depending on what the object typically shapes the actions in our every day lives. While I went to school in pursuit of my LPN license, I was taught to be very observant to signs and symptoms, behaviors, and also making note of responses to care. These are very important for nurses to do them not to diagnose like a doctor, but to have the right response at the right time. I would find myself so focused on becoming an LPN, that what I learned, started to become a part of my every day life. I began seeing things through the eyes of nursing. We as believers, are called to pursue God and his righteousness. In Matthew 22:37 Jesus says to love the Lord your God with all your heart with all your soul, and with all your mind. This verse can be summarized as with your everything being it’s calling for your whole heart mind and soul involved in loving God. Jesus modeled this in the gospels, acknowledging God the father in everything. Not saying we should only seek God and full-time ministry in our pursuits. Remember, even Jesus had a profession as a carpenter. What we should be doing is making God our number one ambition. In the book of Matthew, chapter 6:33 Jesus again speaking says, but seek ye first, the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added onto you. When God is your main goal, focus and pursuit like my pursuit of my LPN license, it will become a regular and active part of your life. You begin to see things through God’s standards, laws, and values. Similar to nursing, having a scope of practice a godly pursuit provides the same for the believer. Lastly, a scripture for practical application in our lives. Colossians 3:23 whatever you do, work heartily (or with all your heart), as unto the Lord, and not for men. When the scripture says men, this includes yourself. In closing I’ll reiterate God should be our number one ambition. God bless you. This is growth in God.
