YAKANI URGES HOLD OUT GROUPS TO INVEST IN NAIROBI TALKS
رئيس منظمة تمكين المجتمع لعملية التنظيم (CEPO) السيد ياكاني يحث الجماعات المتمردة على الاستثمار في محادثات نيروبي.

The Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO) called on the holdout groups to take advantage of the Nairobi peace talks and build on the already existing Rome Peace talk held in the Vatican with the mediation of the Sant’Egidio Community.
“The absence of Gen. Thomas Cirillo’s group of NAS and Emmanuel Ajawin of NDM-PF is not healthy in securing absolute political stability in some parts of the country but also attempts for building peace cannot wait for everybody at the same,” said Edmund Yakani, the Executive Director of (CEPO).
Yakani called on the holdout groups to send their delegations to the Nairobi talks to show their interest in peace in the country.
“We are urging the leaders of NAS under the leadership of Gen. Thomas Cirillo and NDM-PF under the leadership of Emmanuel Ajawin to send delegates to confirm the spirit of the peace talks for the best interest of showing commitment for realization of political stability for the suffering citizens of the country they aspire to govern one day in future,” Yakani urged.
According to him, the Nairobi peace talks will hold water or bring real political solutions between the government and the holdout groups if all conflicting parties in the peace mediation table of Nairobi demonstrated high level of political maturity and discipline.
He stated that they should focus on the actual political issues that created the political instability than sorting out their personal interests and grievances.
“Every party on the table should take a step of political responsibility for negotiating peace with positive attitudes towards their political opponents without using the peace mediation as tool of political integration for winning political dominance,” said Yakani.
Yakani added, “nurturing peace talks that generate regaining of trust and confidence among the mediating parties is essential for securing concrete and tangible results or else the peace talks may end up as a political tourism like in the past.”
Yakani also urged the mediation team to make the mediation more inclusive and freer from any form of political threats or risk posted against any actor around the mediation table.
During the opening of the high-level mediation for South Sudan last week, the interim chairperson of RJMEC Maj. Gen. (rtd) Charles Tai Gituai hailed the South Sudan mediation process in Nairobi, Kenya, saying it will come out with a framework of inclusivity to address the differences and enhance the peace process.

South Sudan’s First Vice President, Riek Machar met with a member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) Gen. Shams-Eddin Kabbashi.
The meeting was held in Machar’s office in the South Sudanese capital, Juba.
During the meeting, according to statement, the First Vice President expressed his solidarity with the government and people of Sudan in the current ordeal of war.
Machar also briefed Kabashi on the progress so far made in implementing the revitalized South Sudan peace agreement of 2018, in which Sudan is a guarantor.
General Kabashi affirmed that Sudan stands with the stability of the situation in South Sudan because of its repercussions on stability in Sudan and in the region.
Meanwhile, a member of the Sovereignty Council expressed the Government of Sudan’s thanks and appreciation to the Government of South Sudan for the kind treatment of Sudanese citizens who took refuge in the south due to the conflict.
Security, political, economic and humanitarian situation in Sudan were discussed.
Acknowledging the role of regional efforts in ending the ongoing conflict, the Deputy Commander-in-Chief confirmed that the declared position of the Government of Sudan towards these initiatives was to implement the decisions of the Jeddah platform in accordance with the conditions previously announced by the government, reiterating the Sudanese government’s keenness for peace.
A separate meeting also took place between Kabashi and the Head of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM-North) General Abdul-Aziz al-Hilu in Juba.
During the meeting held in Saturday, the two leaders exchanged visions on solutions to the humanitarian file, delivery of aid and political remedy to the war.
The two sides agreed to facilitate the immediate delivery of humanitarian aid in areas under government control as well as areas under the movement’s control. Both sides are to sign a document on humanitarian operations in the two regions.

Joram Mukama Biswaro, the Head of the African Union liaison office in South Sudan, to discuss the country’s readiness to conduct general elections at the end of the transitional period.
Haysom said they talked about how important it is to be prepared for the elections.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Ramadan Mohammed Abdallah Goc, who attended the meeting, said elections would be held at the end of the transitional period.
Goc went on to say that the exemption of UN-imported items will be subject to South Sudan's laws and regulations and that it is not a privilege that NGOs should take advantage of.

Sudan on Friday said export of South Sudan’s crude oil using the Jabalyn pipeline through Port Sudan will resume in two months.
The Vice President of the Transitional Sovereign Council of Sudan, Malik Agar said major efforts were being made to resume oil exports.
“Transportation of South Sudan crude oil via the Jabalyn-Port Sudan pipeline will resume in two months”, he told the U.S-sponsored Eye Radio.
A high-placed source at the Ministry of Petroleum separately told Sudan Tribune that efforts were being made to resume production and export through the Jabalyn pipeline
“You know oil is an international resource. It is not Sudan and South Sudan benefiting from it alone. You have Chinese, Russians, Malaysians, Indians, and even Americans in the mix”, said a South Sudanese diplomat with direct knowledge of the ongoing efforts to resume export.
He alleged that American companies, utilizing agents in the chain have all along been involved in the process of looking for markets for the sale of crude oil in the international markets.
Agar did not divulge what the two sides and companies were doing to resume export in two months.
Observers utilizing security and diplomatic knowledge and experience have cited a deal that companies on one side with the direct involvement and permission of the government of south Sudan and Sudan on the other reached to allow the technicians access to where disruptions have occurred for repair and maintenance of some facilities and stations.
South Sudan depends on the oil it exports through Sudan which has been experiencing instability since the military and paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) started fighting each other in the middle of April 2023.
Regional and international efforts to mediate and end the conflict through a negotiated settlement have been slow, if not stalled.

PRESIDENT KIIR & 1st. V.P MACHAR AGREE IN PRINCIPLE TO POSTPONE ELECTIONS

A senior opposition official from the main armed opposition Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) has said that the group’s leader, Riek Machar Teny, has come into consensus with President Salva Kiir Mayardit to postpone the 2024 elections.
The opposition official, speaking on condition of anonymity, did not indicate when the agreement was reached but said the two rivals “agreed in principle” to push back the elections and were tailoring the terms, including the extended transitional period.
“The chairman and commander-in-chief and the first vice president, H.E Dr. Riek Machar Teny Dhurgon has agreed with Salva Kiir to postpone the election,” he said.
“He proposed the extension and because everyone including our internal partners see that there is no possibility for elections, Salva has agreed in principle for the idea,” he told Sudans Post yesterday.
The senior official said that the two men will form a team of experts to work on tailoring down the terms of the agreement, including the timeframe for elections and also on issues of concerns to us such as the unilateral actions that are usually taken by the president.
“The two principals will form a team of experts from the two main parties and that would include civil society organizations that will work together to make sure that the terms of the extension are proportionate to the remaining tasks provided for in the revitalized peace agreement,” he said.
South Sudan gained independence from Sudan in July 2011. Civil war broke out two years before planned elections could take place in 2015.
The warring parties, led by Kiir and Machar, signed a peace deal in 2015 that collapsed a year later.
In September 2018, the two men signed a revitalized version of that agreement, with elections postponed several times.
The last extension of the transitional period was in August 2022, with elections scheduled for December this year.
But the parties have agreed to implement key benchmarks for elections set forth in the revitalized peace agreement.
The international community, as well as the opposition parties such as SPLM-IO, have previously warned that elections with unimplemented peace tasks would return the country to war.

H.E KIIR CALLS ON PARTIES TO PREPARE FOR ELECTIONS AS HE REOPEN TNLA Date: 03/April/2024 (Juba) - H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Wednesday inaugurated the first session of the National Legislature, calling on the citizens to prepare for the December general elections. The session was held under the theme: "Together building a better future through parliamentary consensus." President Kiir urged the parties to the agreement to embrace a democratic way of solving issues amicably and shun political violence in all forms. "Our economy has been affected by global challenges, although the government increased salaries by 400%, still our dependence on oil and depreciation of our currency has affected the economy,” the Head of State said. “This demands urgent intervention like diversifying the revenues and increasing local production. Thus, the government will secure the supply of fuel and basic commodities” President Kiir reiterated. The President directed the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security to revive old agricultural schemes across the country in a bid to boost food production. He also told the August House that the Air Traffic Control System has been completed and would soon be commissioned, adding that the country will soon take over the control of its airspace, which will allow the registration of airlines and collection of taxes. President Kiir also encouraged investors to invest in the country and create employment opportunities for young people. For her part, Speaker Jemma Nunu Kumba said the National Parliament will double its efforts to ensure that all the prerequisites for elections are met for smooth conduct of the polls. James Wani Igga, joined mourners to eulogized the life of Nama Lucy Poni Kalombu. Late Mama Lucy is a mother to Dr. Martin Elia Lomurö, she died on the 7th of January in Nairobi Kenya after undergoing medical attention. The late was born in 1927 and survived with six children. While addressing the mourners during the memorial service of late Mama Lucy, HE Vice President Igga described her as a humble woman who love and respect both old and young ones the same and she grew up with the fear of God, the character emulated by her son Dr. Martin Elia. Vice President also paid tribute to the heroes of Pajulu Community and urged them to always remember them in such gatherings mentioning Late Aggrey Jaden, Benjamin Lwoki, Samson Kwaje and Eliaba Surur. HE Prof. Igga assured Pajulu Community to stay united and work for peace to restore prosperity. In regards to the presence of cattle herders roaming, they shall be repartriated to their places of origin as per Republican Order. Rt. Rev. Jackson Aripa, the Assistant Bishop of Juba Diocese encouraged faithful to build altars for worshipping God in their families, offices and other places of work. Bishop Aripa advice people to be humble and meek specially senior government leaders not to undermine the deprived and the poor. The last Memorial service was attended by thousands of people who came to pay tribute to late Mama Lucy among them were Rt. Hon. DR. LAM AKOL SPEECH AFTER ARRIVING IN JUBA TODAY Date: 31/July/2023 Dr. Lam Akol Ajawin, the leader of the National Democratic Movement (NDM), arrived in the capital Juba on Monday morning. Dr. Akol landed aboard Kenya Airways and was received by the Minister of Presidential Affairs Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin. Addressing reporters upon disembarking from the plane, Dr. Akol said he came to implement the peace agreement as the remaining parts of the agreement require his presence on the ground. “I came in order to continue the road that we started on 12th September 2018. The peace process that we voluntarily agreed that we should do, I have not been far from it may be physically I was not there, but I was taking part in the process,” Dr. Akol said. “We hope to do the next stages which demand physical presence. If we are able to do the rest previously at the distance, this time we need to be physically present in order to push forward and take our land to the designed end that we have all planned from the very beginning,” he added. The NDM leader announced that his party is ready for elections and his return to the country is part of the preparation for the 2024 polls. “My next move is that we are coming to implement the peace process and in order to prepare for the next stages as demanded by the peace agreement. We are prepared for the elections as part of the peace agreement. The election is a process, not an event. We are preparing for the election, whatever that preparation means,” he said. RSF LEADER GEN. HEMETI APPEARED FOR 1st TIME AND CALLS FOR REPLACEMENT OF SUDANESE ARMY LEADERSHIP Date: 28/July/2023 Sudanese paramilitary leader General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, known as Hemedti, called for the replacement of army leadership on Friday in his first on-camera appearance since fighting broke out. The video of Hemedti was posted to the paramilitary group's page showing him surrounded by cheering members of the RSF, as he apologised to the Sudanese people for the impact of the ongoing conflict. "We tell our brothers in the armed forces, if you want a quick solution … change your leadership and we'll come to an agreement in 72 hours." Hemedti also warned that Ahmed Haroun, an ex-official under former President Omar Al Bashir who escaped from prison in late April, was leading the security committee in eastern parts of the country where the army is in control. In previous audio messages, Hemedti has accused the army of taking orders from loyalists of the autocrat, who was in power for almost three decades. Fighting broke out in Khartoum between the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the Sudan Armed forces on 15/April/2023 with gunfire and bombs heard near the army headquarters and presidential palace, according to an Anadolu reporter in Khartoum, which has has led to the displacement of more than 3 million people and thrown the country into one of the world's worst humanitarian crises. The dispute centres around a proposed transition to civilian rule. A proposed move to a civilian-led government has foundered on the timetable to integrate the RSF into the national army. "NO MAN WILL GO BACK ALIVE" - SUDAN GENERAL DARES KENYA TO WAR Date: 25/July/2023 Sudan has dared Kenya to a ‘battle’ as the diplomatic spat between Khartoum and Nairobi takes a new shape amidst ongoing violence in the northern African nation. Yasser Al-Atta, a general in the Sudan Armed Forces and member of the Supreme Council told William Ruto Kenya’s president, to bring the Kenyan Defence Forces (KDF) to a fight with his troops in a clear escalation of animosity that has been simmering between the two countries in the past few months. President Ruto is the chairman of a four-nation appointed by the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) to mediate the ongoing conflict between Sudan’s national army and the paramilitary wing, the Rapid Support Forces. The government of Sudan, however, has been protesting the appointment of Ruto to chair the talks on suspicion that he is not neutral. The East African regional bloc – EAC said in early July in Djibouti, where Ruto was bestowed with the coheirship’s baton, that they are considering deploying forces from the block to protect civilians in Sudan, a decision that Khartoum has vehemently rejected. “Leave the East African Forces [you] come and bring the Kenyan army to fight us. I assure you, none of you will return to Kenya after that,” Gen. Al-Atta said in a video clip that has been doing the rounds on social media. The regional forces are currently carrying out a similar exercise in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), where M23 rebels have been fighting government forces. Sudan’s conflict erupted on April 15, and despite numerous ceasefire deals, no sign of any meaningful solution has been forthcoming.
