Freedom was never handed; it was always fought for.

Today, August 19, we commemorate the birth of Manuel L. Quezon, an illustrious and remarkable man who used his political power in getting Congress to approve the Jones Act, which guaranteed the Philippines' independence, in 1916.

Manuel L. Quezon's presidency stands as an heroic expression of nationalism in the country. He is remembered for his fearlessness and willingness to take risks in order to secure freedom and dignity for his fellow citizens. Quezon's remarkable achievements can inspire us to dedicate ourselves to protecting our nation, hoping that we possess the courage and patriotism to drive positive change and leave a proud legacy for future generations.

Let us remember Quezon City Day as we continue to live our lives with selfless acts of service, unwavering efforts, and for not disregarding the past that once taught all of us to look after our present's liberty and condemn those who ignore it.

After all, a lavish life through rose-tinted glasses is the best thing we'll ever see.

LOOK: Residents experience waist-deep flood in Brgy. San Juan, Balagtas, Bulacan on Sunday morning, July 30 due to heavy rains.

Sender Jimuel Lazaro said to Manila Bulletin that as of 5:00 p.m. today, the flood slightly went down to leg level. Their area has been experiencing deep flood waters for four days now.

According to PAGASA, storm-enhanced "habagat" may continue to bring occasional rains in Luzon and Visayas for the next few days.
