It is with great sadness that I share the news of Barrie Schwortz passing. Although we knew each other for a short time, approximately four months, I considered Barrie a friend. I had the privilege of interviewing him just four months ago.
Barrie Schwortz was the documenting photographer for the 1978 Shroud of Turin Research Project, responsible for capturing popular images of the Shroud that have been featured in articles and documentaries worldwide.
Additionally, he played a pivotal role as the Editor and Publisher of the renowned shroud.com website. He has been featured in programs on the History Channel, Discovery Channel, Learning Channel, CNN, CBS, NBC, PBS, BBC, and Vatican Radio.
His photographs have been published in hundreds of books and renowned publications such as Time, Life, Newsweek, and National Geographic, and have appeared in numerous television documentaries. He also has a TEDx Talk from 2013.
