Ah creativity you cruel mistress. Who hasn’t spent hours staring at the same ideas trying to put them together into something sensible and incredible?
In fact tonight we’re joining for a brainstorming session to work though the almighty demon. Our weapon of choice will either be coffee or whiskey… maybe both.

Our current arc is set beneath and adjacent to the cities of Lissidre and Clearshaw. It’s part of the world we are in called Eterea. It’s a world that suffered the loss of magic, and it’s now unstable and largely feared despite its use. Factions exist that are working toward their own goals of harnessing the power and being the first to gain control.
Look for the exciting conclusion to this arc coming soon!

I like this advice. I’ve always dismissed the idea of a “writing prompt” notebook but am rethinking my stance on it. I see the need for true practice - writing anything at all - to hone your craft, address issues you encounter only in the circumstances of creation, and flex your creativity.
What exercise are you doing to improve your writing?

A story is not the place to avoid making waves. Don’t sit in the middle. Don’t avoid controversy. Don’t hide your beliefs, feelings, opinions. Calm and quiet is boring. Base everything on real events and give the reader something to chew on. Put it all out there. Your life and world is messy, why should your story be any different?
