Firstly what is Media?
Media is the channels used to disseminate information, it is also means (heterogeneous audience) in mass communication terms. Media also means technology that is intended to reach a mass audience. It is the primary means of communication used to reach the vast majority of the general public. The most common platforms for mass media are newspapers, magazines, radio, television, and the Internet.

Technology brought us social media, the birth of technology gave birth to social media. It can also be refers to ‘mass collaboration’

So should social media be regarded as mass media?, social media can be regarded as mass media in the sense that both are driven by technology.

On the other hand social media cannot be regarded as mass media because you can disseminate any information at your finger tips, with the use of our mobile devices anywhere, anytime, any day an individual wants and it’s unlimited while it can’t be possible with mass media because the media houses can’t be moved about and each of the program is scheduled or timed.
