Ep. 9 is up!! Jeffrey Walsh served in Maphoitsile, South Africa from 2016 to 2018 as an education volunteer. His life of service has allowed him to be sworn-in at least 6 times from 1990 to 2020. (Army enlistment, Army reenlistment, Army National Guard, Peace Corps, Americorps and FEMA). His service was filled with unique and special moments and opportunities including the moment he received the name of Tebogo which means gratitude.

Episode 8 is up!! Michelle Osorio’s service in Guayaquil, Ecuador was not your average Peace Corps experience. She lived in a city of approximately 2.7 million, had fantastic hosting families, experienced political unrest, and was yet another volunteer that had to be evacuated due to the COVID pandemic. Even though Michelle’s service lasted 10 months, it was long enough for her to fall in love with her hosting country, her job, her fellow PC volunteers, and local friends and counterparts. We truly appreciate Michelle’s advice for those who are thinking about joining Peace Corps. Come and listen to Michelle’s tale!

Episode 7 is up!! Over ten years ago, Jesse Bailey packed his bags, flew over the Atlantic ocean and landed in Morocco where he spent the next 27 months as a health volunteer. The cultural and history richness of this African country is reflected not only on its breathtaking landscapes and beautiful people, but also on the languages spoken and currencies used. Jesse learned his local Berber dialect, Tamazight, as well as survival Arabic and some French. Come listen and have fun with us as we listen to his Tales!

Episode 6 is up!! Elena goes back in time to 2005-2007, the years she served in the Dominican Republic. From bus rides filled with Bachata music and chickens to the community relationships she had at her site, El Seibo, Elena’s tale is filled with beautiful memories.  She was able to put in practice many of her social worker skills as a Youth, Family and Community Development volunteer. Elena now lives in Colombia where she works as a English Teacher and is working hard to make her personal project, Healing Puentes, a resource for adult adoptees who want to reconnect with their biological families. We hope you enjoy her tale!

She served in Panama from 2019-2020 as a TELS (Teaching English Leadership Life Skills) volunteer where she spent 50% of her time teaching English and 50% working with youth.

Salena goes back in memory lane and talks about her three years of PC service in Madagascar and the challenges she faced when transitioning to her third year extension. She was nicknamed the 'Martha Stewart's of PC in her region and enjoyed making new crafts as her hobby and kept busy at her site with the nutrition program she developed.
