Death Row Inmates Imagine Their Own Memorials

Can Frank Gehry’s Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial Be Saved?

Can Frank Gehry’s Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial Be Saved?

The Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial would take up much of a four-acre plot across the street from the National Air and Space Museum, which itself sits on the increasingly cluttered National Mall, and would be dominated by four eighty-foot metal curtains showing scenes from Eisenhower’s life. World Aids Day today, folks.

Today is World AIDS Day and Day Without Art. We are remembering the day through Félix González-Torres's "Untitled (The End)". This work is one of his earliest stack pieces where through removing a piece of paper visitors can reduce the artwork to nothing, functioning as a metaphor for the body and mortality.

The work is now on view in "Color Bind: The MCA Collection in Black and White". You can learn more here: http://bit.ly/Yg42X2
