𝑸𝑼𝑰𝑬𝑻 𝑩𝑶𝒀 𝑻𝑼𝑹𝑵𝑬𝑫 𝑰𝑵𝑻𝑶 𝑨 𝑴𝑶𝑵𝑺𝑻𝑬𝑹
𝐓𝐖: 𝐒𝐞𝐱𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐞 / 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐮𝐥𝐭, 𝐑𝐚𝐩𝐞, 𝐁𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐫𝐮𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐝
First of all, I would like to apologize for my absence. I’ve been in the deep writing’s block and been doing my research towards cases that would capture the interest of the readers like I did the first time. This week’s article is a fairly new case which the judgment was just dropped on the accused, this case happened in the UK by someone who isn’t British.
The name of this monster is Reynhard Sinaga; born on February 19th 1983 who is an 𝑰𝒏𝒅𝒐𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝒓𝒂𝒑𝒊𝒔𝒕 who was convicted of 159 s*x offences including 136 r**es of young men committed in Manchester, England from the date the year of 2015 to 2017, he lived in Manchester as a mature student. He was born in the city of Jambi, Indonesia in 1983 but spent his childhood in the southern outskirts of Jakarta.
He obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from the University of Indonesia in 2006 before moving to England a year later which is in the year of 2007 to study Urban Planning at the University of Manchester. He went on to gain around three Degrees there before embarking on a Doctorate / PHD in Human Geography in the University of Leeds, travelling there from Manchester when required; he never completed his Doctorate. His thesis entitled “Sexuality and everyday transnationalism among South Asian gay and bis*xual men in Manchester”, was submitted in August 2016 but ended up accessed as FAIL and Reynhard was given time to make corrections.
According to British’s Media Reports, it was reported that Reynhard came from a wealthy pious Christianity family. His father had several successful business in a number of fields but the family’s wealth mainly came from the palm oil sector. Reynhard was basically lucky in terms of his financial status due to the fact he was basically living off his father’s money for his food, apartment and studies. He is the first child, the eldest of his four siblings. He had a job, one job to be exact. Which is working in Manchester’s Gay Village, the area of where he spent most of his time socializing. He was also a regular at a local church.
While in Manchester, he lived as an openly gay man and reportedly had many boyfriends. He even posted on his social media that he had always felt a little different growing up and moving to England, being away from his family was liberating his s*xuality. This was confirmed by a friend of Reynhard to whom he lost contact with the minute he moved to the western country, she remembered Reynhard as someone who was smart and friendly. His appearance started to changed when he resided in England, he became more flamboyant and more into fashion. She even recounted that he started to wear colored lip gloss and shaped his eyebrows.
The place of where the heinous crimes happened was in his own home, he lived in a flat in Princess Street located at Central Manchester; he would wait for men leaving nightclubs and bars before leading them to his flat as a false pretense of offering a place to rest or to charge their mobile phones. Once the victims are inside, Reynhard 𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒐𝒇𝒇𝒆𝒓 𝒂 𝒅𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒌 𝒘𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒉 𝒊𝒔 𝒖𝒔𝒖𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒂𝒍𝒄𝒐𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒊𝒄 𝒅𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒌𝒔 𝒘𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒉 𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒊𝒏 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒑𝒐𝒍𝒊𝒄𝒆 𝒃𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒆𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆 𝑮𝑯𝑩 𝒘𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒉 𝒊𝒔 𝒂 𝒅𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝒓𝒂𝒑𝒆 𝒅𝒓𝒖𝒈 𝒈𝒂𝒎𝒎𝒂-𝒉𝒚𝒅𝒓𝒐𝒙𝒚𝒃𝒖𝒕𝒚𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒆, 𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒎 𝒖𝒏𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒄𝒊𝒐𝒖𝒔. He would then r**e his victims and used his phone to record his abuse. Keep it in mind, he has been doing this for almost 2 years so none of his victims knew what actually went down while they were unconscious when they wake up the next morning until his last victim who is 18 years old at the time, woke up from their unconsciousness while the assault was happening, beating Reynhard up before reported him to the police. It was medically proven that he rarely used any condoms at the time of penetrating his victims; despite this fact, he was found negative for s*xually transmitted infections upon his arrest.
January 2020, which is this month when his sentence was announced, almost all of Reynhard Sinaga’s victims were known to be heteros*xual / straight young men with three exceptions.
𝑯𝒆 𝒔𝒂𝒘 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 “𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈” 𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒎𝒆𝒏 𝒂𝒔 𝒂 𝒔𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕, a victim during January 2015 who had an argument with his girlfriend in the Factory Nightclub near Reynhard’s home, he told a WhatsApp group: “SuperRey saves straight boys from their monstrous girlfriend.”
The Crown Prosecution Service said detectives discovered around 3.29 TB (Terabytes) of graphic material of the s*xual assaults / r**e equivalent to 250 DVDs or 300,000 photos from his phone. Many of his victims around 70 men who was identified, the police was able to trace the 70 victims through the belongings of them that Reynhard Sinaga took / stole as a trophy of his crimes. He kept phones, watches, cards et cetera. It was also discovered that he used social media to reach his unknowing victims online.
Reynhard’s first occurrence with the police was on New Year’s Day of 2015. The man, who was straight like the majority of Reynhard’s victims could remember nothing from the night before which was he was completely drugged up and unconscious awaken the next day covered in vomit of his abuser’s flat but because of false concern of Reynhard, the victim expressed concern (like every other victims) for imposing on his host before leaving; sadly enough, he was actually r**ed twice.
It was believed by the police that the man has attacked at least 195 victims, including the 48 cases were brought to the court, over a period that could stretch back to 2007, when he first arrived in the UK. After some of the assaults that happened, he would boast about his actions on WhatsApp. Reynhard pleaded ‘not guilty’ to all charges that was made against him with the result that his victims had to endure relating evidence in court and the videos being shown to the jurors and others present at the trials.
He defended by saying that 𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒍𝒂𝒊𝒎𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒃𝒆𝒆𝒏 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒚𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒔𝒆𝒙 𝒈𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒔 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒎𝒆𝒏 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒚𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒅𝒆𝒂𝒅 𝒊𝒏 𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒐 𝒇𝒖𝒍𝒇𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒇𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒔𝒊𝒆𝒔. He even claimed that some assaults were consensual, but the claim was found to be false as victims could be heard to be snoring in the footage. There were 4 trials that took place between the dates:
• June 1st – July 10th 2018 – (Covering around 13 victims)
• April 1st – May 7th 2019 – (Covering around 12 victims)
• September 16th – October 4th 2019 – (Covering around 10 times)
• December 2019 – (Covering around 13 times)
There are a total of 48 named victims out of at least 195 Reynhard Sinaga believed to have r**ed while they were unconscious. Police have been unable to trace 70 of his remaining victims.
𝑶𝒏 𝑴𝒐𝒏𝒅𝒂𝒚 𝑱𝒂𝒏𝒖𝒂𝒓𝒚 𝟔𝒕𝒉 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟎; 𝑹𝒆𝒚𝒏𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒅 𝑺𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒈𝒂 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅 𝒈𝒖𝒊𝒍𝒕𝒚 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒋𝒂𝒊𝒍𝒆𝒅 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒆 𝒂𝒇𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒃𝒆𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒇𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅 𝒈𝒖𝒊𝒍𝒕𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝟏𝟓𝟗 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒈𝒆𝒔 𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒔𝒕 𝟒𝟖 𝒎𝒆𝒏 𝒂𝒈𝒆𝒅 𝒃𝒆𝒕𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒏 𝟏𝟕 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝟑𝟔 𝒂𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅 𝑱𝒂𝒏𝒖𝒂𝒓𝒚 𝟐𝟎𝟏𝟓 𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒍 𝑱𝒖𝒏𝒆 𝟐𝟎𝟏𝟕, 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒅𝒆𝒕𝒂𝒊𝒍 𝒐𝒇 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒈𝒆𝒔; 𝟏𝟑𝟔 𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝒓𝒂𝒑𝒆, 𝟏𝟒 𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝒔𝒆𝒙𝒖𝒂𝒍 𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒂𝒖𝒍𝒕, 𝒆𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒎𝒑𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒓𝒂𝒑𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒂𝒖𝒍𝒕 𝒃𝒚 𝒑𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏.𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒄𝒐𝒑𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅 𝒇𝒐𝒐𝒕𝒂𝒈𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒖𝒑 𝒕𝒐 𝟏𝟗𝟓 𝒗𝒊𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒔 𝒐𝒏 𝒍𝒂𝒑𝒕𝒐𝒑𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒘𝒐 𝒊𝑷𝒉𝒐𝒏𝒆𝒔 𝒐𝒘𝒏𝒆𝒅 𝒃𝒚 𝑹𝒆𝒚𝒏𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒅 𝑺𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒈𝒂.
𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗙𝗔𝗖𝗧𝗦: The prosecution described Reynhard Sinaga as the most profilic ra**st in British Legal History. It was reported that his mother only came to his first trial but never attended the remaining three. His father was interviewed by BBC Indonesia, expressed his opinion a day after the sentencing on his son, where he was quoted as saying that his son “got what he deserved” and that “We accept the verdict. His punishment fits his crimes. I don’t want to discuss the case any further.” As the police investigation continues, the worldwide coverage of this case has prompted a flood of male victims to contact helplines about s*xual abuse they have suffered. A small team of 5 police officers and 4 specially trained support officers have been manning a dedicated hotline set up in the expectation that dozens more possible of Reynhard Sinaga will come forward.
PSA: R**e is a serious issue and it happens to both men and women regardless the s*xuality.
