Want to learn more about the history and culture of Hawaii? Check out this piece on the history of Hawaii. Liliʻuokalani, the last queen of Hawaii, fought for years for restitution and in 1911 she was granted a lifetime pension from the Territory of Hawaii.
With the queen's signature on January 24, 1895, generations of a Hawaiian monarchy came to an end. The islands Liliʻuokalani once ruled were annexed by the United States at the behest of white settlers who had come to see Hawaii as a cash cow. The legacy of that loss to a wealthy minority still resonates today.
The bloodless but brutal coup brought Hawaii's monarchy to an end—and paved the way for U.S. statehood.

1948: Creation & Catastrophe is the story of the establishment of Israel as seen through the eyes of the people who lived it. Rather than being a history lesson, this documentary is a primer for the present. It is simply not possible to make sense of what is happening in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict today without an understanding of 1948. Watch the documentary by visiting this link https://www.1948movie.com and take a look at the entire film screening and discussion guide by visiting our website https://bit.ly/3wkrXGi
The documentary promises to reveal this story and, more importantly, to provide a way of understanding the underlying dynamics of the seemingly incomprehensible conflict that continues to capture headlines to this day.
