New tent!
My mechanic said this is one of his least favorite jobs … that each tent takes a little piece of him.
I’m grateful for Brian & Kev at Vanagon Repair, and the cross breezes that three - 3!! - screens will bring.

This van never ceases to amaze me! I did a big cleaning in the driveway today and when I opened the fridge to wipe it down, I spotted … wait for it … a lone ice cube (swipe for pic). Turns out we forgot to switch the fridge off and it’s been running since our last campout 2 weeks ago. We added no water to our smallest-ever ice cube maker, and yet. It just wants to make ice! And apparently did that from condensation.

Loading up for an exciting trip tomorrow, nothing but blue skies and I got that pre-trip feeling (can you see it?)…. This time of year we head north, and that means going through NYC. 🤞🤞It can get pretty hot when we’re stopped in traffic and the “Volkswagen air conditioning” shuts down, lol. But once we make it through, beautiful New England and a very special campground on Martha’s Vineyard awaits.

Celebrating the launch of , a slipcover I designed to disguise our awesome-but-ugly camping potty (pictured here as a cocktail table)! 🥂
We also use the potty as an ottoman, stool and it fits perfectly between the seats of our Vanagon.
I like this system so much I had a batch of these covers made, and they are for sale in my shop.
Cheers to a toilet that multitasks!

We’re underway with a kitchen renovation and I’m washing dishes in our tiki bar. The sink is just like the Westy! Camping at home … I got this :) 🤜🚐

On the road again with sunshine and a new Digifant!
Our long battle with Vanagon Syndrome reached a cease fire recently with the installation of a reconditioned fuel injection system.
This little black box is the apparent culprit of on-again, off-again bucking and temporary loss of power we’ve experienced for the past two years that tried our patience and tested our faith in the beloved Westy … it’s been quite a ride, and I share the story in my latest blog post.

This sweet little campground is within a half hour's drive from the "big three" attractions in Williamsburg, Va, and makes a great East Coast road trip!

✱ 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐦𝐬𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐠 gives Philadelphia a run for its money. True, we have the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, but we don't have people walking around in 18th century garb going about their day at the apothecary, engraving shop and blacksmith's workshop, etc. ⛺ 20 minutes from the campsite.
✱ 𝐉𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐰𝐧𝐞 is the first permanent English settlement in the US before we became the US. Not much is left and the site is now a dig (think Pompeii) but just down the road there's a museum that fills in the blanks. ⛺ 15 minutes from the campsite.
✱ 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐜𝐡 𝐆𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐬 is a fabulous amusement park with top-notch coasters and adorable country-themed pavilions, like a mini Epcot. Who knew coaster parks could be classy? ⛺ 30 minutes from the campsite.
