🎄What books are you giving as presents this year?🎄

Abby here ( ) and I've bought 2 books for my dad, 4 for my spouse, 4 for my kiddo, 2 for my brother, 6 for me (ha), and 4 for different friends. Which is . . . probably a bit excessive but also not nearly enough, as all of us readers can attest 😁

My go-to book gift this year was The Ten Thousand Doors of January. I mentioned it on the podcast a couple weeks ago, but I started it as an ebook, then immediately went out and bought it in paperback.

Almost every page has been highlighted somewhere. I could not get enough of the prose! So, if you're struggling with a last min book gift--make sure to check this one out.

I have just finished the King of Scars duology and officially have a hangover. What should I read next? It needs to have an awesome diverse cast of witty characters!

These books are going to be packed into boxes in the next couple of weeks as we’re moving house! I have lots of exciting plans for a library/reading nook, but given we have a very wee baby and a very active toddler, it may be a while before I can get round to creating it!

How do you organize your bookshelves? Color, size, author, genre, other personal designations?

I kinda do a bit of everything. Sizes together as much as possible but then color in one section cause it's pretty. I have a few shelves of my own books. Some that are thematic. Then just kinda filling in with what looks good.

Maybe I'm mostly just basing it on vibes 😅

I enjoy reading more witchy, fall books 🍂 or watching Gilmore Girls ☕️

But, I wrote a short story with horror tones for deep magic Ezine. We were given random prompts by readers … and we had to incorporate those into a story!

Try incorporating a rubber duck into a horror dungeon setting 😂

This Deep Magic issue has spooky stories, but none are super-gritty-dark. If that’s your mood, check it out!

Hello hello and welcome to my (Abby's) favorite month of the year!

This year, my October is gonna look a little different. Normally I curl up with spooky books and thick sweaters and haunt my front door looking for all the trick-or-treaters. As a bonus, my neighbors go all out on the decor and are known locally as "the haunted house." Which means we get a lot of drive by spectators.

This year, I'm trading in my spooky books for board books!

That's right! We've got a new little reader on our hands. Well. Book licker. Baby doesn't do much besides gnaw on the pages and gum her bottle. But think of allllll the stories I'll get to read to her this fall 🥰 🥰
