Hi all, I hope this post finds you well. As many of you know I have this little side gig I do called Slightly Entertained Media Productions. Is it registered? Not yet. Is it really a real company? Absolutely. As of now me and four of my friends have been contributing in one way or another to this idea over the last few years. It has been a blast and we only continue to improve the more we do it. Between 64 episodes of The Gaming Block, 15 of Hi-Fi Rewind, and 20 of Doomed to Repeat, I have personally edited, produced, and uploaded all of the shows myself. (Approximately 99 shows in all so far). One of my goals when making this was the commitment to providing a quality product. Me and my co-host have invested hundreds in microphones, headsets, editing software, and hosting sites over the last few years. As of now the monthly expenses are approximately $84.99/month for the editing software, $19.99/month for the recording software, and $14.99/month for the hosting. Not expensive but not cheap. Totaling around $120/month, this financial burden has been solely my responsibility. I have never asked nor will I ever ask my co-hosts to help with the costs. They already provide hours our labor for free every month. Nor do I want to push this cost onto the consumer by putting our show behind a paywall or flooding it with advertisements. Filling our shows with ads would, in my opinion, lead to a worse product for our listeners. Regardless of what happens we will continue making our shows for our fans and if you haven't checked it our yet give it a listen. Another way you can help me out personally is by subscribing to our Patreon. What is Patreon? It's a website that allows you to support me and my co-hosts through monthly payments. This money goes directly to us and will soften the financial burden I have felt over the last few years. A goal of $120/month is no small feat and that would only be to cover the monthly costs. If, by some miracle, we did get more than that, Excess money would go towards better equipment for all of the hosts, more access to products related to our content (i.e. history books, documentaries, retro games, etc.) and an evenly split paycheck for all of the hosts. Of course, if you don't want to support us monetarily, that is okay too. I don't expect anyone to pay us for doing this nor are we doing it for the money. We love doing this and love it so much that there are people who listen and love the show. Sharing this posts and our podcast is a massive help, almost bigger than the monetarily support (almost). Whether you do end up giving us a couple of bucks a month, give this post a share, subscribe to our podcasts, or simply tell a friend about us, we truly appreciate you.
