Thomas Tuchel has been sacked by Chelsea following their 1-0 Champions League defeat to Dinamo Zagreb.

New owner Todd Boehly has wasted no time in binning the German coach just seven games into the season, and 100 days into his reign since replacing Roman Abramovich.

Chelsea are sixth in the Premier League and have made a miserable start to their Champions League campaign, with Tuchel disposed hours after their humbling 1-0 loss in Croatia, his 100th match in charge.

Southampton have completed the loan signing of Ainsley Maitland-Niles from Arsenal.

The versatile 25 year-old has joined for the season in a deal that includes an option for Southampton to buy.

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl said: 'Ainsley is at a good point in his career, with a lot of experience already, but he is also still a young player with potential, and he is someone who can definitely help us.

Alexander Isak flew into England on Wednesday night ahead of completing his £60million move to Newcastle United.

Eddie Howe's side are close to smashing their club record transfer fee with a deal for Real Sociedad striker Isak, who is set to undergo his medical with the Magpies on Thursday.

Anthony Joshua admitted last night he 'let himself down' with his erratic behaviour in the immediate aftermath of his world heavyweight title defeat by Oleksandr Usyk.

Joshua grabbed Usyk's WBA and Ring Magazine belts and dropped them outside the ropes before picking up the microphone and launching into a confused rant.

Super-middleweight legend Carl Froch accused him of stealing Usyk's moment while Joshua's gym-mate Frazer Clarke said he should have been 'saved from himself' by his team, who 'hung him out to dry'.

Joshua said: 'I'll be the first to admit, I let myself down. I acted out of pure passion and emotion and when not controlled it ain't great. I love this sport so, so much and I'll be better from this point on.

Bayern Munich forward Sadio Mane has sent boxes containing chocolates and a picture of himself to staff members at Liverpool, after his departure following six successful years at the club.

The Senegalese international sent 150 boxes to his former club to show his appreciation to staff members from all sectors of the club, according to reports from Christian Falk.

The 30-year-old left Anfield for Bavaria this summer for £35million, and his hit the ground running at his new club after scoring two goals in three games for the Bundesliga outfit.

Manchester United's dismal August continued with reports that the club's pursuit of Adrien Rabiot had collapsed.

The club had chased Rabiot from Juventus following their defeat to Brighton on the opening weekend of the season and had been hopeful of completing a deal for the France international.

Marc Cucurella's £62million move to Chelsea makes him the seventh most expensive defender of all time.

The former Brighton defender completed a medical with the Blues on Thursday ahead of the deal being confirmed on Friday, having handed in a transfer request on the south coast in light of interest from Manchester City.

Chelsea will pay an initial fee of £55million for Cucurella, plus a potential £7million in bonuses.

The Spanish full-back has signed a six-year deal at Stamford Bridge after completing a medical on Thursday afternoon, despite Brighton's recent claim that no deal was in place.
