Mark Wood, the England fast bowler, played a key role in Lucknow Super Giants' victory over Delhi Capitals by taking five wickets, giving away only 14 runs, in the Indian Premier League match.
This was Wood's return to the IPL after a gap of three years. Lucknow had earlier posted a competitive total of 193-6, thanks to Kyle Mayers' 73 off 38 balls on his IPL debut. In response, Delhi Capitals could only manage 143-9, with David Warner scoring 56 and Rilee Rossouw contributing 30.
Wood made an impact from the start by dismissing opener Prithvi Shaw and then Mitchell Marsh in consecutive balls in his first over.
Sarfaraz Khan denied him a hat-trick but later became Wood's victim, along with Axar Patel and Chetan Sakariya.
