Now that’s the way to return from vacation 🌞

Because (if you’re like me) when you’re on vacation, you want to be ALL IN on vacation.

No stressing about posting content at the right time or logging in to reply to new DMs. I didn’t open my business account once.

And when I came back - I had to block out my availability to deal with the influx of bookings đŸ”„

I’ve found most of the people I work with fall into 2 buckets with Instagram Stories

NO IDEA WHAT TO POST ON STORIES

If this is you, you’re in good company - most people find themselves here.

Each week is a constant battle of “oh yeah I need to post on Stories
 but what should I post?”

This is usually because you don’t have a reliable strategy, so there’s no rhyme or reason behind that you’re posting.

How would that help?

Well, if you knew what purpose that Story should serve - ie increase views so the next day you can post a sales Story and actually get decent views on it - then you’re already 5 steps ahead in deciding what that Story should include!

POSTING EVERYTHING ON STORIES

Then there’s a smaller group of people who share endlessly on Stories because they find it “easier” but actually it’s so they can avoid creating more strategic content for their feed.

I love that Stories require a lot less production and editing than a feed post, but that doesn’t mean they don’t require any thought!

Either way, Stories shouldn’t be a forgotten or stressful task for you each week.

With a little strategy and effort, you can whip up Stories that work their magic for you in just a few minutes!

It’s been a wild ride đŸ„č

I first downloaded Instagram on my phone in 2014 (when I finally switched from my Blackberry to an iPhone)

I was at uni at the time, studying Fashion Marketing & Branding and used the app to share bad quality snaps of my food, outfits and sunsets.

It wasn’t until early 2017 that I landed my first Social Media Manager job and started posting on Instagram for business purposes.

This totally opened my eyes to creating content to build trust, create brand awareness and ultimately make money!

Rather than just personal gratification and keeping up with friends.

→ I jumped on the release of carousels
→ I saw Guides and IGTV come and go
→ I was over the moon when Stories launched
→ And hesitated at the launch of Reels

A LOT has changed in the last 9 years, but I’m still here thriving in my own business and helping others do the same.

Caption: Keep it simple by saying what niche it’s for and then asking if there’s anything they’d like to add (or even disagree with)

For example, my caption was:

The Head of IG has been ranting about increasing your Shares for a while, so it’s time to listen up.

Here’s the thing - if your followers love the post for whatever reason, yeah, it’s more likely they’ll share it anyway.

This is where understanding your audience and what content they want to see is crucial!

But as you’re discovering what works best (and to give your content a natural boost) these CTAs will give you a nudge in the right direction.

When we’re scrolling through IG, we’re all guilty of loving a post and STILL scrolling straight past it without hitting like, leaving any comment or sharing it.

THIS IS WHERE CALL-TO-ACTIONS COME IN!

It’s a little reminder to your viewers to take a specific action - helping them spread the love and you actually see the love 💜

Include all of YOU in your niche ✹

Niching doesn’t have to be a tiny, closed box!

I’ve found that you’re niche enough as long as you have that ONE thing that you want to become known for on Instagram - aka if someone recommended your page to a friend, what reason would they give to follow you?

Do you make hilarious music videos of you dancing whilst your guinea pigs snack on veggies? *I legit just followed someone for this exact reason 😅

Or maybe you sell candles but you have the most sarcastic sense of humour and it adds an extra twist


For me, I want to make Instagram marketing easy for businesses. But anyone (with the expertise) could do this well, so I want to include more of myself to make my content stand out


You’ll notice that I talk about working out, my plants and baking sourdough once every 1-2 weeks or so. But NOT in a way that, if you didn’t know me, you’d think that’s what this page is about.

Here’s the difference—

🌿 PLANT PAGE:

“Look at my 3 new Monstera leaves! I encouraged this growth by fertilizing month (yes, even in winter) and putting the aerial roots in water”

Using my plants as the backdrop of my Reels and in the background of my Stories, with polls about Instagram over the top.

“I need to reply to your Q&A questions, so I’m going to answer as many as I can whilst my sourdough bakes” as a little fun motivator.

Your niche is the headliner, but everyone’s showing up to the festival for the whole vibe!!
