The penultimate episode of Inside No. 9 season 5, 3 by 3 guest stars Lee Mack.

The episode title is the name of a game show hosted by Mack.

Curiously Mack's Kerblam! co-star Bradley Walsh was a real-life game show host having hosted The Chase (also the name of the 1965 Dalek story) prior to playing Graham.

Whilst on the subject of Walshes, one of the contestants on 3 by 3 was James Bailey and he had played Walsh's son in The Zygon Invasion but his scenes were cut from the finished episode but is still credited for playing this character.

One of the questions Mack asked on 3 by 3 was about the Arctic Monkeys and coincidentally the subject of the Arctic Monkeys came up in It Takes You Away, another Graham episode and came two episodes after Kerblam!

Creamerie (2.3) Episode 9:
A certain portrait shown here certainly got my attention.
I wished the loveliness the portrait portrayed had reflected well on its very subject because things certainly spiral out of control from there.

My Parents Are Aliens 8.11 Dan the Man had the said Dan (actually a boy played by a real Dan, Daniel Feltham) debating with foster father Brian (Tony Gardner) about the latter, since he is actually an alien, being a man.
Brian says that he sounds like a man but Dan says that Brian sounds like a Dalek!
Coincidentally NuWho's own 8.11 Dark Water too has a Dan, that of Danny Pink.

The War Between the Land and Sea adds two to its cast with returning characters from elsewhere in the Whoniverse with Ruth Madeley back as Shirley Anne Bingham previously seen in The Star Beast & The Giggle and Colin McFarlane as General Austin Pierce, a character he previously played in Torchwood: Children of Earth in 2009.

Prior to playing Pierce the first time round, McFarlane had voiced the Heavenly Host in Voyage of the Damned and prior to his return as Pierce, McFarlane played Moran in Under The Lake/Before the Flood.

The pair join the previously announced Russell Tovey, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Jemma Redgrave, and Alexander Devrient.

The Guardians (1971) 1.6 Appearances:
Quite a harrowing episode as it deals with the aftermath of the killing of a detective in cold blood.
Elsewhere Dinsdale Landen plays a sadistic doctor at a mental facility and definitely not someone I want to be anywhere near at.

Cobra Kai 5.9 Survivors:
Penultimate episode of season 5.
Absolutely horrifying as a matter of test Tory had to break a block of stone which seriously hurt her hand.
Surprised on hearing the Eye of the Tiger song when Daniel, Johnny and Chozen were on in a limo but it doesn't take them to their intended destination.
So what's going on here and who has taken them.

Doctor Who 44.6 Rogue:
Antepenultimate episode of season 44.
Written by Doctor Who newcomers Kate Herron and Briony Redmond.
Herron had previous foray into time travel as she had directed and executive produced the first season of Loki.
Directed by Ben Chessell.
This is the so-called Bridgerton episode with that show being referenced here and being set in 1813.
It is curious to note that two cast members of Bridgerton, Golda Rosheuvel and Nicola Coughland have become guest stars of Gatwa Doctor Who episodes but neither of whom are in Rogue.
Rosheuvel had guest starred earlier in this season, in the season opener Space Babies while Coughland is in the upcoming 2024 Christmas Special Joy to the World.
Given Bridgerton, I wonder if there was any thought or temptation to have Rosheuvel or Coughland or both in Rogue.
Space Babies was directed by Julie Anne Robinson and was an executive producer on Bridgerton and had directed Rosheuvel as well as Coughland on Bridgerton.
While Robinson did not direct Rogue I am guessing she may have had a little input with it.
This is due to Rogue playing Bad Romance from Lady Gaga and this song had been played in the Selfie pilot which was directed by Robinson.
Incidentally I saw the three episodes of Bridgerton season 3 just prior to seeing Rogue as the first half of Bridgerton season 3 was released on Netflix on May 16 2024, 22 days before Rogue came on June 7.
Six days after Rogue came the second half of Bridgerton season 3 on June 13.
Rogue is the name of a bounty hunter played by Jonathan Groff and this episode also guest stars Indira Varma.
Varma was of course Suzie Costello in Torchwood but in Rogue she plays the different character of the Duchess of Pemberton and I was shocked how soon she gets killed off.
However that was not the last we see of Varma here as the Duchess' form is then used by a member of an alien species called the Chuldur, a race of shapeshifters.
Rogue as a bounty hunter is here to track down the Chuldur and mistakenly thought the Doctor was one.
The Doctor makes Rogue understand the latter's mistake of thinking he is a Chuldur by showing images of the former's other faces.
As well as the other established faces of the Doctor's there is one shown of a Doctor who has long been presumed as being non-canon that of the face of Richard E. Grant.
Grant had previously played the Comic Relief Tenth Doctor in The Curse of the Fatal Death and then as the Doctor who was originally declared as the official Ninth Doctor in Scream of the Shalka before Chris Eccleston became the canonical Ninth Doctor instead.
As I understand it Grant's face is meant to be the one he played in Scream of the Shalka.
The inclusion of Grant's face marked quite a turnaround for showrunner Russell T Davies who had expressed his dislike of the Shalka Doctor when Davies was in his first stint as showrunner.
Months before Rogue came out someone at Doctor Who Infinity asked what were the chances of Davies canonising the Shalka Doctor and I said I doubt that he would given his said comments and I doubted he had changed his mind since then.
After finishing Rogue I read that the picture of Grant is a new one specifically shot for this episode and that Grant did it for free and Davies was very enthusiastic when he talked about Grant doing that.
This marked a contrast to Davies' comment about the Shalka Doctor all those years ago as he thought that Grant just took the money and run.
Elsewhere in Rogue a surprising element came when Emily that Ruby had befriended turned out to be a Chuldur, the real Emily having been killed beforehand.
Interesting that this episode is about cosplaying with that very word being said here as that is what the Chuldur are doing by pretending to be other people
Pretty good how it all got resolved but with Rogue sacrificing himself to defeat the Chuldur but is this truly the last we see of him.
Overall a pretty good debut script by Herron and Redmond.
Susan Twist isn't physically in this episode instead there is a portrait of her that Ruby notices.
The Next Time trailer for The Legend of Ruby Sunday promises to finally explain who Susan Twist and why she was everywhere.
The end credits has a dedication to First Doctor companion actor William Russell (Ian Chesteron) as he sadly died on June 3 2024, four days before Rogue came out.

Started Douglas Is Cancelled which is a mini-series written and created by Steven Moffat.
This has Moffat reunite with actors during his time as Doctor Who showrunner as it starred Hugh Bonneville (guest star in the Doctor Who episodes The Curse of the Black Spot & A Good Man Goes to War also written by Moffat), my wife Karen Gillan (who had played companion Amy Pond in episodes that included the aforementioned The Curse of the Black Spot & A Good Man Goes to War) and Alex Kingston (who had played River Song, the daughter of the said Amy Pond).
In fact Bonneville and Kingston narrowly missed each other in Doctor Who as Bonneville in his guest stint in The Curse of the Black Spot came just after The Impossible Astronaut/Day of the Moon also written by Moffat in which Kingston had played River Song.
Curiously enough in Douglas Is Cancelled, Moffat has Bonneville and Kingston as a married couple.

My wife Karen as Madeline Crow starts the series by saying "That is all for today. Same time tomorrow" which is an ironic way to start the series.

A curious thing about the first episode is that Alex Kingston as Sheila Bellowes saying the line of "It's called marriage".

Kingston and my wife Karen both said that same line in Doctor Who: The Angels Take Manhattan also written by Moffat.

My wife Karen, Bonneville and Kingston are not the only cast members of Douglas Is Cancelled to have previously been in the Moffat era of Doctor Who as featuring in the first episode only that of Stephanie Hyam.

Hyam had bookended Moffat's final season as showrunner when she played Heather in the season opener The Pilot and then in the season finale The Doctor Falls.

I scored 8 points.
"You know the difference between the final frontier and the fourth dimension! With a knowledge base like yours, you could be a future Time Lord or rise through the ranks of Starfleet… but don’t go it alone. Share the quiz with those you would travel the cosmos with, either in the Enterprise or the TARDIS."

How well do you these iconic lines from two universe-exploring shows?

Saw the animated movie Christmas Carol: The Movie (2001) starring Simon Callow as Ebenezer Scrooge and Michael Gambon as the Ghost of Christmas Present
What I read on Wikipedia but did not see myself is that the movie is bookended by live-action sequences of Callow as A Christmas Carol author Charles Dickens and Callow would later play Dickens in the Doctor Who episode The Unquiet Dead & The Wedding of River Song.
Gambon would later be in Doctor Who's own A Christmas Carol which served as its 2010 Christmas Special in which he played the Scrooge-like Kazran Sardick and incidentally Gambon's old role as Ghost of Christmas Present is filled here by my wife Karen Gillan as Amy.
Also in Christmas Carol: The Movie was Arthur Cox who would later be in close proximity to Gambon's aforementioned appearance in Doctor Who's A Christmas Carol when Cox had a brief role as Mr Henderson in The Eleventh Hour which came eight months before.

Quantum Leap:
Quantum Leap ran for five seasons between March 26, 1989 and May 5, 1993.
It starred Scott Bakula as Dr. Sam Beckett, a physicist who, believing he has invented a way to travel through time.
This is done with him leaping to people's bodies with the purpose of improving their lives.
However unlike other time travel shows like Doctor Who, Sam can't travel anywhere in time as he can only travel within the period of his lifetime.
However he is far from home and efforts has been made to get him back there.
Helping Sam in his travels through time is his best friend Al Calavicci (Dean Stockwell), a United States Rear Admiral.
Al is in the present but he appears as a hologram that only Sam can see.
With the use of small supercomputer that he calls Ziggy, Al tells Sam about the person whose body Sam is currently inhabiting of what future holds for this person and whether Sam has improved the host's situation.
Overall a very enjoyable time travel series given its premise and the series came to a mysterious end.
The final episode Mirror Image ends with a note stating that Sam never returned home.

Almost three decades later came a revival series in 2022 also called Quantum Leap.

However by this time Stockwell had died the previous year 2021 and it is because of this Bakula decline to return as Sam feeling that it wouldn't be the same without Stockwell.
This new Quantum Leap focuses on a time traveller Dr Ben Song (Raymond Lee).
To be quite frank I wasn't too impressed with Lee as Ben which affected by enjoyment of this new series.
This new Quantum Leap however only last for two seasons when it got cancelled.
Due to this abrupt cancellation the series ends with Ben still stuck travelling through time just like his predecessor Sam when the original series ended.

Doctor Who: Doom's Day: Out of Time:

Out of Time is a short story and marks the final release in the Doom's Day multimedia series and released on October 6 2023.
Written by James Goss.
Fascinating account here about Doom and who she has been sent to assassinate, which is quite absurd who her target is, and how the Doctor comes into this.
Not bad how things wrapped with a new path being set for Doom.

Will Doom outrun death and find the right Doctor in her final hour?

Been watching Super Gran (1985-87) after learning the death of Super Gran herself Gudrun Ure back on May 14 2024.
I reached its 1986 Christmas Special Christmas Super Gran: The World's Worst Circus and I found it is the first to have been produced by Graham Williams and it is the first of three episodes directed by Gerald Blake.
Blake had directed a story during Williams' time as Doctor Who producer that of The Invasion of Time.
Sadly Williams and Blake would later die within several months of each other with Williams on August 17 1990 and Blake on April 5 1991.
Among the Super Gran series regulars was Iain Cuthbertson as this marked another Doctor Who reunion as Cuthbertson had played Garron in The Ribos Operation also produced by Williams and the one that came after The Invasion of Time directed by Blake.
Also from Williams' time as Doctor Who producer working on this period of Super Gran was composer Dudley Simpson.
