👉A Dhaka court has issued summons against three BNP leaders, including its Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, asking him to appear before it on July 14 in a case filed on charge of instigating students for creating anarchy during movement for road safety in 2018.

📰Two others are BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed and its standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ashek Imam on June 12 passed the order after accepting the probe report submitted by an inspector of Tejgaon Police Station.

⚖️During that movement on August 4, a reported audio clip of a telephonic conversation between Amir Khasru and an unknown person over intensifying the ongoing student movement went viral on Facebook and YouTube. In the probe report, the IO said that the charges brought against the three leaders were primarily proved and they should be brought under trial for their alleged involvement with instigating students for creating anarchy during road safety.

👉Torrential rains that have plagued Brazil's northeastern Pernambuco state since Tuesday have left at least 34 dead, 29 of which occurred over the previous day, according to the latest official update.

📰"From last Wednesday until midday this Saturday, 34 deaths were recorded in the state," said the Civil Defense in a statement.
Six others were killed in another landslide in the municipality of Camaragibe.

⚖️Two died in Recife and another in Jaboatao dos Guararapes. The heavy rains have also forced almost 1,000 people to flee their homes due to the flooding and landslides.

👉27 civilians killed in DR Congo massacre At least 27 civilians were killed by members of a notorious rebel group in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo on Saturday, the army and Red Cross said.
"When we arrived, it was already too late because the enemy ADF had already killed more than a dozen of our fellow citizens with machetes."

📰After the attack early Saturday, in the Beni region in North Kivu province, soldiers pursued the attackers and "neutralised seven ADF" and captured another, Mualushayi said.
The massacre comes after almost a month of relative calm in Beni, where the Congolese and Ugandan armies have been conducting joint military operations against the ADF since late November.

⚖️More than 120 armed groups roam eastern DRC and civilian massacres are common.
Despite this, authorities have been unable to stop the massacres which are regularly carried out on civilians.

👉The World Health Organization said on Sunday that monkey pox constitutes a "moderate risk" to overall public health at global level after cases were reported in countries where the disease is not typically found.

📰There has been no reported fatalities so far.
Monkeypox is an infectious disease that is usually mild, and is endemic in parts of west and central Africa.

⚖️It is spread by close contact, so it can be relatively easily contained through measures such as self-isolation and hygiene. Most of the cases reported so far have been detected in the UK, Spain and Portugal.

The reason behind the disappearances has remained unexplained and has been attributed to the outcome of weather and human error.

In an advertisement on its website, the travel agency, the Ancient Mysteries Cruise, has said: "Don't worry about disappearing on this Bermuda Triangle tour.

👉The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested a woman for harassing and assaulting another woman at the Narsingdi Railway Station for wearing "indecent clothing" recently.

⚖️Marzia Akter Shila alias Shila alias Saima, who is the main accused in a case filed in the incident, was arrested from Shibpur area of Narsingdi on Monday (30 May).
She assumes different names at different times, she also goes by the name Shila or Saima.

📰The woman was forced to take shelter in the station master's room to save herself from the raging mob. The incident sparked mass criticism as many protested against it in person and on social media.

👉About 24% of the health professionals who were engaged in the treatment process of the Covid patients had suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) with doctors being the most affected followed by technologists and nurses, a study has revealed.

📰Of the total affected health workers, 24.30% were technologists and 22.8% nurses, said the study on "Psychological Impacts, Wellbeing, Associated Factors and Coping Strategies of Health Professionals during Covid-19 Pandemic in Bangladesh," conducted by the National Institute of Preventive and Social Medicine (NIPSOM).
The health education directorate funded the study.

⚖️Most of the health professionals surveyed, had suffered from stress, tiredness and had sleeping problems.
Many of them were concerned about their relatives and families which intensified their anxiety. The study suggested counselling for healing the mental stress of health professionals.

👉Officials said that 26 passengers are missing after a ferry ran out of fuel and capsized in heavy weather off the coast of Indonesia on Saturday. The ferry carrying 43 people overturned on Thursday in the Makassar Strait, the waterway dividing the islands of Sulawesi and Borneo, according to the country's search and rescue agency.

📰Saturday was the first day that news of the tragedy reached authorities, including the local director of search and rescue, Djuanidi, who, like many Indonesians, has only one name."Two passing tugboats have successfully rescued seventeen individuals. A rescue squad has been sent to hunt for the missing individuals "he stated.

⚖️Marine accidents are widespread in Indonesia, a 17,000-island Southeast Asian archipelago where safety regulations are sometimes weak. In 2018, more than 150 people perished after a ferry capsized in one of the world's deepest lakes on the island of Sumatra. A ferry carrying more than 800 passengers struck aground in shallow seas off the coast of East Nusa Tenggara province last week and was stranded for two days before being towed away. Nobody was injured.

📰Thousands of commuters have been suffering as bus services on some regional roads, including tourist spot Kuakata, remain suspended for the last four days due to the conflict between the bus owners of Patuakhali and Barguna districts.

👉All buses from the two districts have stopped plying the Patuakhali-Kuakata, Patuakhali-Amtali and Barisal-Barguna via Chandukhali route since Wednesday morning (May 25, 2022).
At meetings in Barishal in 2019 and in Dhaka in 2021, the two districts reached an agreement.

⚖️Rail communications of Dhaka with the country's northern part and Khulna were restored 11 hours after derailment of a train at Gazipur's Kaliakoir upazila last night.
The train services resumed around 10am today after two bogies including the engine of Dhaka-bound Panchgarh Express from Panchgarh have been recovered, Stationmaster of Kaliakoir railway station Shahinur Rahman Shaheen confirmed.

📰The bogies were derailed soon after the train crossed Kaliakoir station around 9pm yesterday (May 27, 2022), halting train movement between Dhaka and northern districts and Khulna, said Joydevpur Railway Junction In-charge Rezaul Islam.

👉After the derailment, the rescue train from Dhaka reached to the site at 3am and started the salvage operation, our Gazipur correspondent reports quoting Rezaul.
Bangladesh Railway Divisional Manager (Pakshey Railway Division) Shahidul Islam told the Daily Star, "A four-member probe committee has been formed to investigate the incident."

👉Two constables of the Bangladesh Police went missing in the Netherlands after attending a training programme there. The constables have remained missing since May 22.

📰Rasel and Shah Alam along with six others went to the Netherlands on May 9 to attend the training on management, handling and training of dogs.

⚖️Chattogram Metropolitan Police informed the police headquarter about the matter. CMP commissioner Saleh Mohammad Tanvir told reporters on Friday that they would take departmental action against them.

👉The facility of Eskayef Pharmaceuticals Ltd is expected to go into production by 2023. They contain a cartridge filled with insulin which can be replaced once finished. Since 2012, Eskayef has been producing Novo Nordisk's insulin vials in its plant.

⚖️Addressing the inauguration at the plant, AK Azad, national professor and president of the Diabetic Association of Bangladesh, said, "In case of insulin production, Eskayef is a pioneer in the country.

📰So, the Diabetic Association of Bangladesh should have more collaborations." In his presentation, Rajarshi Dey Sarkar, vice president and general manager of Novo Nordisk Bangladesh, said around five million diabetic patients in Bangladesh use insulin produced by their company, which meets half the country's demand.

📰The number of motorcycles under the ridesharing services is increasing in the capital, with authorities struggling to maintain order, giving rise to accidents, traffic chaos and passenger harassment.

⚖️At least three ridesharing service providers stopped running motorcycle services after the outbreak of the Covid-19 as they found that most of the motorcyclists registered with them were not using mobile apps and had been carrying passengers illegally.
As of May 19, 2022, 16 ridesharing companies registered with the BRTA, 28,600 vehicles have mandatory enlistment certificates.

👉Shah Mohammad Azad, who uses ridesharing services on contract to travel from Gulistan to Mirpur, alleged that the drivers providing service on contract normally become reckless as they try to reach destinations as soon as possible.

⚖️Kazi Nazrul Islam Today is the 123rd birth anniversary of the national poet, Kazi Nazrul Islam.

👉During his tenure as a soldier, Nazrul’s literary practice took a formal shape: his first poem Mukti, first story Bounduler Atmakahini, and a number of other writings such as Byathar Dan and Meher Nigar were published in that period. His life as a journalist began with the publication of the evening daily Nabajug in 1920. Dhaka University awarded the poet the honorary degree of DLitt in 1974 for his contribution to Bangla literature and culture.

📰He was buried beside Dhaka University central mosque.
