I love being an online entrepreneur and being able to work from home, however, it is sometimes distracting. Today, I found myself procrastinating by cleaning 🧼😂!

🚀 From Corporate Dropout to Online Entrepreneur 💼💡

When I Kissed Corporate Goodbye, I not only wanted to make a difference for my family, but I wanted to empower others and truly make a difference for other families. What began as a network marketing side hustle, has turned into 4 online businesses in all different areas!! It's been an incredible ride, and I'm grateful for the opportunities and lessons that have shaped my path.

The decision to leave the corporate world was daunting, but I knew deep down that I needed a change. I craved the freedom to figure out my passions and do something meaningful. I was tired of the 9-to-5 schedule, entertaining clients after hours and missing out on family milestones. I knew having an online business was key. Now I have 4!!

I started in Network Marketing 20 years ago because that was the best fit for me and my "mom schedule". Now, as an empty nester, I am all about multiple online businesses including email marketing, affiliate marketing and digital marketing. Having online businesses that work together is a game changer! Having automated systems so you can have true freedom is the holy grail!

It was scary making a move from corporate to network marketing. It was scary going from one company to another after 17 years. It has been scary becoming an online entrepreneur with multiple businesses, but nothing was more scary than not being there for my kids’ moments when they were little!

Do you feel it’s too late to reinvent yourself?

It’s never too late! Just look at entertainers! They reinvent themselves all the time!!!!!

I have reinvented myself several times and each time it was worth it.

My first reinvention came after 15 years in the corporate rat race. I got tired of making a fraction of what my counterparts made. I was tired of late night obligations and the final straw came when I was in the hospital with double pneumonia and they were interviewing for my job! I knew it was time to make a move.

I left my secure job with a nice paycheck and benefits to be a stay-at-home mom. I loved every moment but I wanted to contribute to our family and the while the rewards were priceless, the paycheck was nonexistent 🙂. I had no idea what I was going to do next, but I knew I would find a way.

I found the perfect fit for me in network marketing. I saw this business model and wondered why I wasn’t taught it in business school. I learned new skills quickly and matched my corporate salary in 6 months while I was raising 2 little boys. It was a perfect fit.

17 years later, I knew that it was time once again to make a big change. Just like people, industries should also reinvent themselves. When the company I was with wasn’t evolving and I wasn’t growing (in fact, I was actually going in the wrong direction), I knew it was time. I knew there had to be new ways to build a business that would be in alignment with my values and goals

In today’s world reinvention is more of a necessity than a luxury. It’s also not as scary because so many people know it’s reinvent yourself or get left out!

What’s your happy place??

For me it’s hiking!

Here are 3 lessons I’ve learned from hiking and how they apply to business.

1. Hiking is about putting one foot in front of the other and knowing where you’re going. Even though the top of the mountain may seem insurmountable, it’s one step at a time! Same is true for business.

2. Following the trail in hiking gets you to the top faster. Hiking trails are designed to get you from point A to point B in the shortest amount of time. Sometimes it looks like fun to explore and veer off the trail, just know it will take you longer to get to the top. Same is true in business. You can follow the path of those already successful in business or you can blaze your own trail. Again, you may still make it to the top, but it most likely will take you longer.

3. Perhaps most importantly, mindset is everything! If you look at the top of the mountain and know you will get to the top no matter what obstacles you may encounter, most likely you will get to the top. As long as you don’t quit before you reach the summit, you will make it. Same rings true for business. Making the commitment to yourself to get to the top in business is the sign of a “no matter what” mindset. Having a positive mindset will serve you well in life and in business.

There are going to be ups and downs (no pun intended) in hiking and in business. If you have an action, follow the trail and have a positive mindset, you’re on the right path!

So, you have an online business but don’t want to bug your family and friends?

This always gets me curious because I want my friends and family to be supportive and show up for me. I’m curious why you wouldn’t want to do life with your friends??? ( I get why maybe not family :))

Most people I work with who say this have lack of belief in one of two areas. The business and their ability to succeed.

When my son started his personal training and stretch business, he started with family and friends and we shared with our networks.

When my friend started her boutique, she told all her friends and I wanted to be the first to show up to support her!

This is how big businesses are created and how they begin growing. All businesses start by talking to people in your warm market.

Having an online business is no different! If you don’t believe in the company values, mission and products, it's going to be a long road ahead.

The best way to build belief is to keep your word to yourself. If you say you’re going to do something, do it.

Celebrate your wins, big and small. One thing I have learned is getting into action and doing "the do" builds belief. Do one thing at a time. The best advice is find SOMEONE you do believe in, learn from them, stick close to them and your belief will grow.

And, if your friends don’t want to support you, it might be time to get some new friends!

It’s been nearly 23 years since I Kissed Corporate Goodbye and when Sunday comes, I can still clearly remember the Sunday Night Blues! I had that sick feeling in my gut knowing I had to go to work on Monday and start the grind again. I was working the 9-5 but my mind was at home thinking about what I might be missing watching my son grow up.

Then, on Monday I just went through the motions. Leaving my 2 year old son, fighting traffic to get to the office, pretending I loved what I did, when in reality, it was never in alignment with my core values. I wanted the freedom to make a difference.

I knew there had to be a better way. I was ready for anything that would allow me flexibility and a way to stay at home with my son. Today, many of us are able to work from home, but is that enough? Are you feeling like you are always working and never present? Are you on someone else’s schedule longing to be on your own? When I started my e-commerce business 18 years ago, I started because I was desperate to stay at home with my boys.

When my kids were in school, I wanted them to see what it was like to be an entrepreneur. I wanted them to be proud of their mom. I wanted to make sure I was home if they needed me. And, I wanted enough money to send them to college. I also wanted to get out of the house and have a community of like minded people to talk to :)

After they graduated my “why”for doing the business changed again. I wanted to help other moms be able to share in the moments with their kids. I wanted to show them how to contribute to their family. I wanted to make a huge impact.

I hear all the time What’s your "Why" and does it really matter? Many studies say it does matter. Knowing your "why" can give you purpose and can be good for you. Want to hear something crazy? Psychology Today did a study and found participants who reported having a sense of purpose earned on average $2,578 more a year and had a net worth of $14,680 greater than those who did not have a sense of purpose.

I think you need a “why” to keep you going. What I have experienced is your “why” is going to change, but it should be your driving force. What’s your “why”?

I don’t have time...

It's the number one reason (excuse) I hear when I ask someone if they want to make more money on the side.

I hate to break it to you but that’s not entirely true. I work with people who have full time jobs, kids and all kinds of other responsibilities. They MAKE time to build a business on the side. They still go to the gym, take care of their families, work and do all the things. What makes them special?? They know how to prioritize. It’s not about time management, it's about knowing how you’re actually spending your time.

I challenge you to map out your day and take a look. Write down how many hours you spend: -Working
-Sleeping
-Driving
-Errands
-Gym
-Family
-Cooking
-Eating
-TV/Social Media..And anything else you do daily

When it’s all said and done most of us actually do have about an extra 10 hours a day. I know I do! Even when my days are full, and I don't think I could possibly add one more thing, I usually can. I know I can find a small window of time to move forward. I'm getting ready to go on my biggest build ever and I'm going to make time to set myself up now for the future!
