Well, I went to prison while in Ohio. They finally caught up with me. But one cool thing, it was the prison where they filmed Shawshank Redemption. I’ve taken some pics from where some of the movie was filmed. Hopefully you can remember them.

This prison was an actual prison until 1990. It was condemned because of the dilapidation of the facilities. Now also it is supposed to be the most haunted prison in the United States. Like a ghostbuster, I ain’t afraid of no ghost. LOL

This was an experience. I found Noah’s Ark. Of all places, it landed in Kentucky. Who would have thought?

I toured the recreation of Noah’s Ark. I must say, it was bigger than I thought it would have been. They say they built to biblical standards. It was an amazing sight.

On my travels, I got to hold a piece of baseball history in my own hands. I got to hold Hank Aaron’s bat. This is a bat from a private collection at the Louisville Slugger Museum. I was amazed and honored to be holding this legend’s bat.

So my little sister likes to stalk, I mean follow me on my trips. She states that at least someone will know where I’m at if something happens to me since I travel alone.

Because I’m not tech savvy on the cell phone stuff, we settled on downloading the Life 360 app. All I was concerned with was she could see my location.

Well, I guess it gives too much information. First it tracks my speed. Next, if I go over 80 mph, it shows a race car with flames behind it. Hell Mary, my van, doing 80 with me driving, I highly doubt that I was going that fast. But oh well. Then if that wasn’t bad enough, on one of my outings, apparently it lets her know I’m on foot and gives her the speed at which I’m walking. Hey, 1 mph is moving. LOL

Moral of the story, my little sister is having way too much fun with this app…..

So while in Branson, I went to the Sight and Sound Theatre and watched the story of Esther. It was truly an amazing experience.

First of all, the set was so real. You were able to imagine that you were there. The set wrapped around the audience 180°. Not only were the characters in animals on stage, but they came down the isles for a truly an immersive experience.

It really brought the story of Esther to life and was an amazing experience. This is the meaning of true family entertainment that brings to life an amazing biblical character.

I now want to come back next year for David. Anybody wanna plan that trip with me?

So. I’m talking to my little sister via Facebook Video. Now I’m the type of brother that wants to share these memories with her that I’m seeing so she can partake on my travels.

I am showing her amazing sites from around this country and here’s her comment to me. “Timmy , you really need a new hat.” I reminded her the importance of this hat, and if this hat could talk, it would tell a ton of war stories.

With all these wonderful things, I’m showing her, she’s concentrated on my hat.

The way I look at it, this hat has another 10 years.

Ahhh…I got to travel down Route 66 for a short time while driving. Remember when we were young stopping off on the side of the road or rest stop and eating lunch with the family. I’m sure you all just had a flashback to pimento cheese or bologna sandwiches wrapped in wax paper and a bottle of coke to wash it all down. Those were some of the best times.

After eating my lunch, and no it wasn’t the above named courses, I stopped off at a candy store that claimed, “Biggest Candy Store in the United States.” Well, I’m not sure that was accurate, but I did find some things that took me back.

Candy Ci******es. I remember buying these all the time and playing Army. I mean, you couldn’t be a commando without a candy cigarette in your mouth. I was reminded that a candy bar was named after me, “Big Hunk.” Those were one of my Dad’s favorites. When we bought them they were so hard they would break teeth trying to take a bite, but a short time on the dashboard of a hot vehicle at 190 degrees, they were done just right and melted in your mouth. Much to my surprise, I found those wax bottles with juice inside. I mean, who ever knew eating wax could be so fun. It was a good time then.

For a brief time, I was brought back to a simpler time and the nostalgia from those thoughts made me feel just a little younger.

After leaving Oklahoma from the rafting trip, I headed through the Northeast part of Arkansas to photograph a few chapels I have always wanted to see and photograph.

The first chapel I stopped out was the Mildred B. Cooper Chapel. Once inside the chapel, I just sat there in quiet reflection. People came and went and my peacefulness was never interuptted. People treated this chapel with great reverence. Others like me just sat in silence, and after a short time, left. The serenity and solace of this magnificent chapel was stunning.

The second chapel was the Thorncrown Chapel. I was amazed by this chapel in the woods as well. Although not as quiet at the Cooper Chapel, this chapel proved to be just as inspiring. Again, I sat in silence taking it all in.

Getting Older…..

As I started my trip, I went to a restaurant with some friends and when my check came, it showed that I had the Senior Discount. One person at the table was a little perturbed, but the waitress came and said, “I wasn’t sure and I wasn’t saying that I thought you were Seniors, but if you’re not, enjoy the discount anyways.” Just for information, none of us were old enough for the Senior Discount, Close, but not there yet.

Now me, I wasn’t offended. I was like yes, a discount. Tuesday evening while in Branson, I booked a motel online and for some reason I got the senior discount again and a handicap room.

You know I talk with my friends about our ailments and such, so I thought to myself, “Tim, you are getting at the age where you are slowing down. Enjoy it.”

You know what, getting reduced checks and being in a shower with grab handles, old people seats, and lowered shower head wasn’t that bad.

I think I’m kinda digging this getting old thing. Note to self - Sign up for AARP when I get back home.

Well, I’m off in “Hell Mary.” That’s the name of my van. There is a story behind this and I will share in a post later...

Well, I’m off in “Hell Mary.” That’s the name of my van. There is a story behind this and I will share in a post later. This year I have really needed it more than ever. There has been so much in my life this year, I just needed open roads and space. Traveling gives me that opportunity. As of this writing, I am in Indiana. I’m a few days past showing any pics, but I will get them posted.

This year as a I travel, I am really taking time for me to decompress. I want to slow down, think, and catch up on my writings and podcast. With all the hustle and bustle of my crazy life, I have fallen behind doing those things that I really enjoy.

So have a wonderful summer whatever you may doing and don’t get too much of a tan…
