Bharat Sikka (New Delhi, India)
Bharat Sikka was born and raised in India, where he began his photographic practice before studying at the Parsons School of Design, NY. Sikka’s long-term photographic projects have centered on the cultural residues and societal transformations within India, rendered with the visual language and material forms of contemporary art photography. Bharat’s and his father’s multi-layered photographic project The Sapper was exhibited at Post Books,Tokyo and the book was shortlisted for Paris Photo,Photo book of the year 2023

SUPER LABO proud to announce the release of our new book BIKE PATH by

After 20 years of skatboading, my body was left broken.I I couldn’t physycally ride a skateboad
anymore.It was a harsh reality for me to embrace the questions: What’s next? Would I ever
learn to live and love again?I had a voice in my soul. Photography helped bandage it for some
years, it wasn’t untill I started surfing that I was fully able to let go of the thought that I couldn’t
ride skateboad anymore.However, I had father in love again.
Seven years ago after moving to Hawaii, I caught myself wanderling. The new question: Had
Ilost my passion for making pictures? Some people may say it was a middle crisis, but now
looking back at it. I think I was having more of a mid-length crisis.
I spent most of my time trying to learn how to surf and what boards to ride. And you could find
meon the bike path, whether I was taking my kids to school, checking surf, or going to surf.
Soon I was whitnessing all thease beautiful every day life moments happening on the bike path,
and evert time I saw a picture, I was kicking myself for not having my camera on me.
Eventually, I pulled out of my slumber and shooting surf action because that inspires me. Then
I captured theadse daily moments of people coming and going. My passion for photography has
always consisted of landscapes, portraits, and action. The North Shore bike path embodies all
that for me.
I would like to express my sinceres gratitude for making me fall deeper in love with photography
and life.This book is dedicated to Mimi, Ella, Ragnar, and the comunity of the North Shore of
Oahu, Hwaii.
Special thank you to Florence Ohana for making thease pictures possible.
I owe you one!

SOUVENIR SHOP by

SUPER LABO proud to announce the release of our new book SOUVENIR SHOP by Bharat Sikka.
The series of photographs were created for my 16-year-old daughter, Mannat, inspired by her Haikus and her profound love for Japan. I began this project in 2023 during our first trip to Japan together. My aim was to create a intimate souvenir that we could bring back to India, capturing our feelings and emotions felt on our travels inJapan, reflecting on how cultures can influence and interpret each other. These influences shaped her perspective and over two extended trips to Japan between 2023 and 2024, I created a multilayered series of photographs inspired by ourconversations and her insights The project evolved into a series of images, encompassing documentation, collages, sculptures, and paintings on photographs. I also collected various souvenirs, integrating them into the artwork to weave a narrative that bridge fantasy, fiction,and reality. This endeavor is representative of my interpretation of Japan, seen through the lens of a father-daughter journey. Ultimately, the extented collection of this project will transform into a book, along with my daughter's Haiku inspired poetry, serving as a tangible souvenir itself.It not only memorializes our experiences but also stands as a testament to the interplay of cultures and the enduring power of artistic expression. ‘ Scrolls books poems Reflect on what time was, They bring me to the souvenir shop
