There are all kinds of New Year's prayers, superstitions, and beliefs. For Pennsylvania “Dutch” Germans, a meal of pork and sauerkraut is considered a good luck charm. An Irish superstition claims we should hit bread on our doors and walls today to fend off evil spirits and bad luck.
