Say hello to a new Sammy on the Scene. We sat down with Chef Andres Vega from .denver to talk about the journey from Miami to Denver as he delivers the dankness to the community. He exchanged his suit and tie from the accounting world, for knives & aprons in ours.

We chat him up on the pod before putting him to work, having him recreate & elevate some South Beach snacks. Tune in on your way to work then seek out this new culinary adventure around Denver!!

Also, we had a longtime listener of the pod sit in with us and fire off some questions & answer a few too. Great episode with lots of laughs and sexualizing of sammiches 😂 🤤

Over the weekend, the Denver community lost an unbelievably great person and culinary ambassador, Chef . Not only was he a loving husband to Jess & caring father to Loren and Sloane, he was also a wonderful friend & colleague to many across Denver. we can attest personally to this.

Our hearts are broken. He looked after us from year 1, worked with us when he prolly (definitely) had better things to do and was always down for a good time, in the restaurant or out. His personality & smile were infectious and while being an 8'0 Bear, he was the kindest Teddy Bear you'd ever encounter.

From wrestling on the floor over cornbread to recording the same blurry podcast multiple times over... he was always a joy to be around. The man knew good vibes, great tunes & his way around a kitchen, something we bonded over quickly. A genius Chef whose love for the CO restaurant industry was only surpassed by his love for his family, friends & diners.

We love you Amos & miss you immensely already. We send our love to all those who knew Chef & are hurting right now.

We tried to do a podcast in his honor, but it only lasted 15 minutes... so we fell 2 hours short of our usual recording time with Amos 🥲😢🥺 I promise never to air those early episodes & videos, RIP Big Bear ♥️

It's officially Mile High Asian Food Week! 100+ locations strewn across the metro from Castle Rock up to Longmont will be celebrating , with secret menu items, collabs between kitchens & specials on their everyday dankness!!

I started at last week to highlight not only their banger Khao Soi (with loads of fried chicken)... but also tee off on their specials they have as well. The pork roti was immaculate as was all the hot bowls we tried out.

Ploy has been holding strong on for years now, but if you haven't visited before, let MHAFW be a wonderful reason to stop in for lunch or dinner this week!! No matter what ya order, you will be hard pressed to find something that isn't loaded with flavor & fun. I mean... just look at her excitement!!

Mile High Asian Food Week runs all week long (through May 4th), so head over to their website, check out all the vendors & restaurants participating and go support local greatness!!

This was a Top 3 dining experience I've had in Colorado.

Team & Chef put on a show & it is absolutely wonderful. It's a refined dining experience with approachable vibes & menu items. Channeling flavors and ingredients from N Italy, S France & Basque Country, dancing through the menu of seafoods as well as creative takes on European classics like beets & carpaccio... this was quite literally a perfect dining experience.

•Pan roasted monkfish- while the menu gives the abridged version, the preparation for this fish starts on Monday with a dehydrating & rehydrating the fish in a tea bath. Wonderful flavor on ze fish & the peas were a delightful texture combo for pairing.

•Celeric Parmigiana - the citrus element here really brings the hammer but to have the dish described as the crispy edges of a lasagna couldn't have been more spot on. Vegetarian dish that was once a finishing garnish now is in my dreams as this was a showstopper.

•Crushed Beets - Not usually a diehard beet guy 😂 I'm so glad we got em, this was the sleeper best dish of the evening. Classic French meets "f**k around and find out", the Bleu cheese + horseradish combo really set this puppy off. Can not recommend it enough.

•Wagyu Carpaccio - the artichokes buried with a romesco sauce was a pleasant surprise and the squid ink sauce makes it visually pop. Like Buffalo Bill, I woulda made suit out of that meat if I could 🤤

•Farinata - stuffed with black garlic & topped with uni, this was a fun and playful starter that I would have order 5 of, if we weren't in the early stages of marathon eating.

•Marigold "Caesar" salad - I mean WTF. Nothing about this is traditional & it slapped. Get it.

•Bucatini - This alone could be a meal, you don't have to order one of everything, you can just get this & bread and call it a wonderful day. Banger.

The staff & wine program are excellent as well. They have made the experience warm, fun & inviting... while being seriously unserious about the cuisine. I can't recommend driving to Lyons soon enough. 9.9/10. WBA. Go soon!! They change the menu every two weeks.

For the last 2 weeks, I've thought regularly about the last meal I had in Denver before leaving. has launched a 6-seat Chef's Table dining experience, meant to be enjoyed A La Carte dining style, with a menu that changes fairly often.

Chef has always been an excellent Chef, but being able to create fun and seasonal dishes (in addition to the dank Hop menu already in play), is elevating the dining experience at their restaurant. The combo of playful & whimsical with decadent flavor profiles show a master class in culinary skill. Absolute f**kworthy deliciousness from the HA team.

When you add perfectly paired wines from Somm & service mastered by and the team... this Michelin Bib staple in the community, are primed to compete with the star scene in 2024.

Due to the dining experience only having 6 seats available at a time, I thoroughly recommend getting reservations for their weekend tasting menu. It's f*ckin excellent & im stoked to get back in there during March Madness. Sorry for any fuzzy pics, I get excited when I'm eating

• Dry Aged Kampachi. Caviar. Red Vinegar
• Chicken Fried Swordfish
• Perfect Boomers
• Foie n Frisée
• Meat on the bone
• Ribeye & Yorkshire Pudding Party
• The Nectar of the Gods

CB was in charge of posting for and he has a wonderful write up from his run through Santa Barbara last week.

Bell’s Restaurant (Est. 2018) is a family-run, French-inspired bistro nestled within the small town of Los Alamos – part of California’s central coast.

Let me tell you, friend, stepping into Bell's is like entering your favorite neighborhood spot (if that spot had a Michelin star) where you just feel welcomed. Think rustic charm meets laid-back elegance. Copper pots and pans hang above the open kitchen. An exposed white brick interior and a wall lined with banquets and bistro tables set the main dining scene.

Now, let's talk about the food. Oh boy, where do I even begin? The first dish to hit the table was Santa Barbara Sea Urchin served on top of a flaky mille topped with caviar – it tasted like the Pacific, salty and fresh. Then, for the table, they dropped off their homemade seeded sourdough bread accompanied by a salad of local farm greens. For the remaining three courses, you get the select from two to three choices for each course. Like pros, we each got something different and shared. We had a stuffed pasta (Capuchon) little bundle of mortadella and prosciutto topped with pistachio gremolata and meyer lemon – zesty and hearty with a slight crunch. The acid from the lemon cuts the richness of the stuffing perfectly. We also had a ranch-style egg served on roasted potato, topped with anchovies over a bed of truffle mustard.

There's a whole lengthy ass caption that continues in the comments..

The food is dank & the hills are steep. Podcast from Portugal is live.

In the first weekend of adventures, we ate like Kings & Queens in Lisbon. The Portuguese gastronomic scene is well known for their seafood as they're running the Atlantic on two sides, but they also have world renowned pork too (Alberto says Spanish farms by Portuguese pigs & pass them as Spanish)... because of the two, I haven't picked my head up for much else. The architecture is gorgeous, the views are stunning & the people are unbelievably welcoming... but the food is so f**kworthy, I can't express how much I'm enjoying this gauntlet.

Did I mention the dollar goes further here than anywhere else I've experienced? As a group of 2,4,5... we haven't broken €200 yet despite clipping high end dining, wines by the bottle & tipping. It's glorious.

Want to hear more about the journey, including detail as to why I'm here & where all we're going.. check out today's podcast & follow the stories as we clip 10 town in 10 days.

One of the new restaurants of 2023 was a showstopper & welcomed addition to the LoHi neighborhood.

is a Japanese kitchen & sushi bar serving up mouth Sando's the size of your head and dry aged sushi for the fish fanatics. Yep, dry aged sushi.

The brain child of has a wide array of offerings from savory to sweet & everything in between. The full kitchen is churning gorgeous and mouth watering (even for the cottonmouth crew) dishes, while the elongated sushi bar churns out a litany of bite size snacks and great conversation.

If you're looking for your next date night or even just a HH sesh, you can post up in their bar side (Zio's style) or park it in their gorgeous upgraded dining room. It's a great addition for the Highlands.

I've been riding that pack, so I went it with an elevated mindset ready to polish off some snacks. Thoroughly recommend their flower, especially for Dry January folk. Give em both a whirl!!

🚨 New Restaurant Alert 🚨

We can't get enough of the new restaurants popping up around town & is no different. Located in LoHi, Chef opened his second restaurant (first is in Connecticut), the Japanese pub just a few weeks ago.

The meal was dank AF. The dumps soaking in chili oil seem to be a fan favorite, but I tell ya what- GET THE TOFU POCKETS. I don't know what the hell is in em, but they're wonderful. Pair that with a bowl of ramen & you have a solid 1-2 punch for your next dining out experience. The ramen broth is thicc as an Only Fans model & the flavors are layered in there. Garlicky, Hearty deliciousness.

They have a litany of shareables and small bites, the crab fried rice & Kung Pow Chicken came highly recommended and they did not disappoint.

Paired with a few Japanese Highballs and flower, this is a great place to sneak away from the crowds in the neighborhood & enjoy a nice meal. Thoroughly recommend, 8.4 WBA

I've eaten one healthy meal in October & Im still thinking about it 3 weeks later.

I'm late to the party at which opened its doors to E Colfax in 2019 across from East HS, but as they say "it's better to be late than never" and truer words have never been spoken.

The Chef-duo couple that launched the concept wanted a solid alternative to the casual sushi dining options around town. Enter vegan & vegetarian sushi n ramen. Creative, inventive & delicious. I was blown away by the flavor profiles of both the sushi rolls & ramen (and apps).

Tempura fried veggies to recreate the fried seafood crunch, their in-house Krab salad concoction that I'd eat by rawdog, Vegan eel sauces & cheeses that taste just like the classic. This place f**ks, plain n simple.

It doesn't stop at their veggie sushi either, Excellent layers to the shoyu ramen broth, hearty bites with fresh noodles & onion/bok choy tossed in, just delish. And don't sleep on their "Bang Bang Broccoli Don"... that may be the best quick bite on Colfax (sorry Middleman, y'all know I love you😂)... seriously though, this place is loaded with flavors & options for everyone. Ramen, Onigiri, sushi or just fried apps.. there's something for everyone (even if your personality is based off the amount of meat you eat). I'm sure you have, but if you haven't visited ... I implore you to stop in for a lunch or dinner. Your gut will thank you!! 8.7, Def WBA.

The hearty meal was paired with a hearty fade... I was snacking on new "Bliss" Rosin gummy line and it had me TORCHED. Had to sit at Tattered & Covered to regroup after lunch 😂 😶‍🌫️. Check em out as they hit stores this week!

Love when restaurants shift menus by the season.

Recently I hit up not only to chat with for the pod, but also cuz I've heard rumblings that she has a top tier pasta program as well.

The rumblings were the truth. Pasta made in house & stuffed, dressed and cooked in a litany of ways. Paired with approachable autumn apps & you can use a wheelbarrow to get yourself outta there.

The new look of the menu entails some knee knickers, primarily this Parsley + Black Garlic Cappaletti. Hanging out in a parmesan broth, soaking in a parsley butter... this dish is a GD banger. Paired that with an enchilada look-a-like, the Rabbit Cannelloni, that was savory & gooey... had me swooning at the bar top. Snagged a seasonal app, the beet, pear & squash Burrata sampler was Fall on a plate. The meal slaps hard.

Everyone's looking for a dank meal deal around town. Something that's refined but doesn't bleed you dry. They have a bottle of wine, pasta & app pairing that's $75 for 2 & tastes like a million bucks. Their Avg app is $15-20, avg pasta is $20-30 & the heavy hitters like Branzino or Steak can range from $30-50.

You can order a La carte, you can attend their Chef's Table Dining Series... hell you can even have breakfast there (open daily brekky-dinner), choose your own price and adventure. Very approachable, upscale dining experience. If you're looking for a date night, special occasion location or maybe just a work HH where ya smoke before hand... they got ya covered. 8.6, Def WBA.

Best Thing I Ate Last Week: . Approachable, friendly price & delicious. What's not to love?

5280 released their Top 25 restaurants last week, and right near the top was & the team inside the Stanley Market.

If you haven't had the chance to post up on their patio, snag a spot at the bar or take over their yurt for a lil a sesh n supper... make a point to do so this autumn.

Mussels we're perfect, their French fries are Tier 1 & outside of the smash burger craze, this is easily the best burger in the city. Pair it with some appetizers & martinis and you have the recipe for a wonderful meal.

You can get in/out without breaking the bank, nothing pictured is over $20. Reservations are recommended. This meal was paired with about 40 samples of wine from Autumn Wine Tasting & it hit the spot!!!

Check em out if ya haven't. 9.3, WBA.
