This episode we talk about what work is being done to help in these trying times politically, socially, environmentally and financially. We talk with Michigan State University Extension educator Eric Karbowski who is working with farmers all around the state helping them to manage stress. We also speak with one of our own students, Carolyn, who grew up on a small farm and the dynamics that have played out within her family. We also met with Sarah Ivan Zastrow, owner and operator of Cultivate Balance a health and wellness business that educates and cares for so many in our state including and especially farmers!

We learn how that creative path led them to choose altruism in medicine and make a difference for rural communities as rural doctors. We are also hearing from our favorites: Bryan Eggers Music and Michigan State University College of Human Medicine's own, Dr. Julie Phillips on how art is influential in their lives and rural communities. The Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, Leadership in Rural Medicine Programs created the podcast “This Rural Mission” to help engage budding professionals in a conversation about rural communities. Rural communities are some of the most underserved regions in our country and without development and invovement, this disparity will continue. For those who are interested in making a difference through their work and life, we encourage you to listen to our podcast. Season 1 was launched in the Fall of 2017 and Season 2 is due for the winter of 2018. We are excited about what you will learn through our stories and interviews and want to connect!
