Movie Review :
Alice (1988) Jan Švankmejer
This is a wonderful, whimsical in a horrific way stop motion piece! This is a retelling of Lewis Carrolls Alice Adventures in wonderland! This was beautifully done compared to a lot of Alice in wonderland adaptions the age of Alice is what I actually imagine Alice to be. A young child with a imagination!
The story starts off with the white rabbit trapped in a glass casing which implied it was a taxidermy rabbit from the looks of things and the rips when the rabbit tears itself away to escape as the rabbit is late! You can see what looks like to be shreds of dust? Wood Chippings I am assuming of course!
As you get further into the film there is a lot of use of stop motions and how creepy porcelain doll like Alice is when she is turned small there isn't much speaking throughout the movie and the story tells itself through the art of stop motion which I do love and it isn't done as much anymore.
It definitely gives of a child vivid imagination and also perhaps children's nightmares too. Jan does have a very unique take and style to Alice and honeslty In my option I feel like it's more fitting towards the bookseven if it is loosely based.
It's amazing how one actress portraying Alice really capture the childlikeness from her short temper and frustrations to the rabbit and his friends and towards the end where she finds the scissors and kinda look a bit psycho like at the end like she became the queen!
I honeslty reccomend people to watch this if they enjoy Alice it's a gritty experience which I enjoyed and I definitely need to check out more of Jan's work because his style of stop motion is amazing!

I want to get back into streaming again but I will need a new headset as my current one isn't working well enough mic keeps cutting I can only hear in one ear it's gotten to the point where its just a pain just to use
So I am doing art comissions!
Cheap headset I saw in game is around £20 so that's my targeted goal
