Rizal Day is a Philippine national holiday celebrated on December 30 to commemorate the life and works of José Rizal, a national hero of the Philippines. It is the anniversary of Rizal's ex*****on in 1896 at Bagumbayan, Manila. Filipinos look back at how his founding of La Liga Filipina and his two novels had an effect on the early beginnings of the Philippine Revolution. The people also recognize his advocacy to achieve liberty through peaceful means rather than violent revolution.

He has been instrumental in the Filipino's bid towards independence and several developments in various sectors. Rizal also made contributions to Philippine art, literature, and medicine, which continues to fascinate his countrymen today.

Studying and learning the works of Jose Rizal is not just about being able to know and read his novels and other literary works, but it is also about understanding how those works helped in fighting against the colonizers in the past. We get to learn the importance of his novels, essays, and other literary works which is not only for entertainment.
