Months ago when I was still doing commissions, I had a couple reach out about doing a triptych. We locked in a date but didn’t speak much to the idea. By the time I was ready to work on the piece, the client informed that his husband had tragically passed after a brief battle with a lung related illness. As they were both avid art collectors, he still wanted to move forward with the piece in his husband’s honor. I’ve never been so motivated to create a piece someone would love. Properly memorializing someone’s life and death through art is an impossible and humbling challenge, but I like to think I did the best I could. We ultimately landed on the idea of a boy floating away with his balloon. It seemed fitting and kinda poetic.
