Bourbon News: Baker’s Bourbon High Rye

Today, launched Baker’s High-Rye Bourbon, a new expression that pays homage to Baker’s trucking business, where he delivered grains to the James B. Beam Distilling Co. During this time, he developed an appreciation for different grains and their influence on whiskey.

This high-rye recipe has 2x the standard amount of rye in Baker’s Bourbon and is a continuation of our innovation journey, celebrating Baker Beam and all that he did for our distillery

It offers a unique tasting journey with each pour, predominate tasting notes include the taste of charred oak, brown sweets, and a subtle rye spice. On the nose, it’s charred oak with notes of vanilla, caramel, and dried fruits. It’s full-bodied with a hint of baking spice.

This liquid is distilled to a 107 proof and barreled and aged for a minimum of 7 years, allowing the bourbon to pull more caramel, dried fruit, and vanilla flavor from the barrel wood. The SRP is 74.99.

This is it! We have worked our way from your favorite 64 whiskey accounts down to two and .and.smoke , who will matchup tomorrow in the finals of the Bourbonfinds Fan Favorites Tournament for Favorite Whiskey Account 2024!

Over 66,000 votes have been cast to this point in the tournament. I am looking forward to see who wins and gets to take home the awesome trophy from plus be a part of picking a special single barrel very soon!

I love it when a barrel pick exceeds any expectations you may have. These two are some of my favorite barrels I have ever picked. They are both 11 years old and will fly when dropped tomorrow!

Michter’s announced it is releasing its limited edition US*1 Barrel Strength Kentucky Straight Rye.

“This rye is really special.” Michter’s US*1 Barrel Strength Rye is a single barrel product, and the average proof of the barrels in this 2024 release is 110.2 proof (55.1% ABV). “It’s enormously expensive for us to barrel our distillate at the lower entry proof of 103 vs the permissible 125 entry proof, but the result, as this product shows, is a richer and more complex whiskey,” observed Master Distiller Dan McKee.

The suggested retail price in the United States is $110 for a 750ml bottle of Michter’s US*1 Barrel Strength Kentucky Straight Rye.

Sunday Funday ~ What is your favorite game for rainy Sundays?

I was hoping to get some extra luck by pairing the game with some new Lucky Seven Bourbon! The cards were not in my favor but the bourbon was delicious. The “Hold Up” is 9 year Kentucky Straight Bourbon and was good neat but even better on a rock. Cheers and hope you had a great weekend.
