Bob Mair is the founder, owner, and CEO of Black Toast Music. Mair founded Black Toast Music in 1990 (currently celebrating it’s 29th year in business) as a boutique, independent music publisher and production music library based in Los Angeles, CA. Along with BTM, Mair has had a lengthy and lucrative career as a musician, composer, and writer.

His career began in the 1970’s as a touring and studio bass player. To name every tour, album, writing credit, etc. would be an encyclopedic endeavor, but some career highlights must be mentioned! Over the years, he has recorded and/or performed with artists such as Hank Williams, Chuck Berry, Lesley Gore, Bo Diddley, Wayne Kramer, Sam Moore, Stewart Copeland, Brian Wilson, and many others. In the 1980’s, Mair was a session bass player on numerous records, jingles, and hit TV shows including Step By Step and Family Matters. Mair’s Bassist Discography Includes: Return of Citizen Wayne (2002 - w/ Wayne Kramer), Destroy All Nels Cline (2001 - w/ Nels Cline), Highbridge Park (2000- w/ Ken Wiley), Love (1999 - w/ John Boswell), Malarchitecture (1998 - w/ Lean-To), Sad (1998 - w/ Nels Cline Trio), At the Beginning (1997 - w/ Stacy Sullivan), Mgm Album ‘Wayne’ (1997 - w/ Debbie Gravitte), Chicago...And All That Jazz (1997 - w/ Brad Ellis), Citizen Wayne (1997 - w/ Wayne Kramer), Mixed Signals (1996 - w/ Belle Stilwill), and many more. Some of his more recent credits include co-composing the main title theme for the hit Nickelodeon animated TV series Glenn Martin DDS, the reality show Sunset Daze, which aired on the WE Entertainment Network. His CV also been credited on the soundtracks for things such as writing/arranging on works such as Modern Family, Stuart Little 3: Call of the Wild, Gym Teacher: The Movie, How I Met Your Mother, The Giving Tree, Person of Interest, Two Broke Girls, Cobra Kai, and numerous others.
Since its launch, Black Toast Music has placed music in hundreds of television series, including such hits as Homeland, The Good Wife, Modern Family, New Girl, Girls, The Walking Dead, Shameless, Sons of Anarchy, True Blood, Dexter, Madam Secretary, Treme, The Wire, and many others. BTM also regularly works with motion picture clients, placing music in films such as Pitch Perfect 2, Neighbors, Ride Along 2, American Reunion, Dumb And Dumber To. Not limited to film and TV, video games such as Konami’s Dance Dance Revolution have relied on BTM for its high caliber music, in addition to national and web-based advertising campaigns for clients like Walmart, Domino's Pizza, and Whole Foods.
