You won’t find a place like The Bunkhouse, just anywhere…

We love going out on Friday or Saturday night to see the band, and have some great steak! Our biggest love though, is the live trivia every Thursday evening!

About 10 miles west of Cheyenne is the Bunkhouse Bar & Grill where every weekend patrons start the evening by singing the national anthem. “It’s a way for us to respect our country and all those who have served for us,” the owner says.

Halloween Fun Fact: 99% of all pumpkins produced in the United States and sold at retail stores, are intended to become Jack-o-Lanterns. Out of over 150 varieties, only 1% are used for food production!

This evening, Trivia with The Unpaid Intern had, for the first time in my +4 year hosting career, 2 significant occasions in their own right, on the same night. Not only did I have the most teams on a single (non-theme) night to-date, with 17, this evening… I had my first Missing Man Table. 18 teams not only breaks my personal best of 17 teams (including a theme night with 17 showing up for The Office), it breaks my all-time personal best for number of overall teams on any night! Thank you to the Bunkhouse Bar & Grill for yet another fantastic night of trivia and fellowship. We can’t wait to see what Disney Night has in store for us next week!

Who is going to see Big Boy roll through town today or Saturday?

Fun facts about Union Pacific 4014:
It was built by the American Locomotive Company of Schenectady, NY, in 1941. It is also the only remaining Big Boy (out of the original 25 built and 8 in existence) still in operation today.

Locally, there’s 2 other identical “Big Boys” on display as well, with 4004 in Cheyenne, WY and 4005 in Denver, CO.

Some info in regards to the next few days.

🚂Big Boy will be in Greeley tomorrow and Saturday. We are lucky that we happen to be at the intersection they stop at for servicing. It is circled in yellow where it usually stops.

🚂We go by the schedule Union Pacific puts out. We can’t tell you updates on it. We are not affiliated with Union Pacific. We tend to get many phone calls asking for information. We look online like everyone else.

🚂Please be mindful of where you park. Don’t block entrances to businesses and driveways.

🚂Saturday parking in the are will be full. The farmers market will be in the depot lot. It is usually very busy and parking gets full. Allow yourself time to park a few blocks over, or to the east side of the tracks. Be prepared to have to walk a bit.

🚂The museum lot is for museum visitors. We have a Sci Fi Day Saturday. We have many coming dressed up in costumes, so don’t be surprised to see them.

It’s a perfect October morning and I’m standing on the field at Coors Field, getting ready to DJ a wedding for the first time. Pretty surreal feeling, having an opportunity to play songs like “Your Love” by The Outfield… knowing full well that just about any other time that song is played here, 50,000 some odd fans scream ”Tonight!” as Charlie Blackmon walks up to bat.

If you look closely you can still see the “33” in the grass, from the night the Rockies organization retired the number in honor of legendary Hall of Famer Larry Walker 😉

While a student at UNC, it was an extra credit “networking opportunity” for the Recreation and Tourism program that brought me in to Crabtree Brewing Company for the first time, way back in 2013.
