For many of us, this is a difficult truth to accept, especially when we have the best intentions.

However, our intentions yield no power if we do not act on them accordingly.
If we intend to change the world, then we need to act that way.
If our business is intended to help solve our customers' problems, then our product, service, and actions better reflect that.

You know what the challenge with 'intentions' is?
YOU CAN'T SEE THEM.
Our actions however, speak louder than even words.

Stop intending to do something, and start DOING it.

WARNING!
Being an influencer is not all fun & $$.
We’ve seen far too many influencers in every space deal with the stress and pressure that comes with having hundreds of thousands, and even millions, of people watching your every move.

If your goal is to become an influencer then here are some tips:

1. Make sure you are in a space that you can stand behind. You will change. You will grow. Do NOT put yourself in a place that you will regret sometime in your future.

2. Give yourself some boundaries. You will likely enjoy the influence you and your message will have on your followers. Do NOT feel the need to be ON all the time. Make sure you give yourself some space to breath.

3. Be YOURSELF. Whether you’re funny, an actor/actress, a storyteller, musician, or any and every type of influencer there is out there. Be true to who you are. In our efforts to be influencers, we can find ourselves being most influenced by many things, including our followers, the platforms we’re on, other influencers - this is all part of the game. BE YOU.

Please make sure to take care of your mental health. There is no amount of likes, no amount of dollars, or no amount of followers that can justify sacrificing our mental and physical health for.

The worst place we can be in is: the SAME PLACE.

Nothing can be more deceving than being comfrotable.
This comfort zone is where we go to waste.

Sure we get some much needed rest,
we get to enjoy all the hard work we put in to get there.
It's a really "comfortable" place to be.

As time passes we find ourselves too comfortable,
often to the point that we become scared of rocking the boat.

We start to believe that we don't need to do much else
or even worse,
we start to believe we can't.

Treat your comfort zones like pit stops:
Stop.
Let your engine cool.
Check your oil.
Refuel.
Grab a snack.
Enjoy the carwash.
Then BACK ON THE JOURNEY.

You notice how excited you get when the weekend comes around??

That's the exact ENERGY we need EVERYDAY!

Obviously, there's nothing we can control about time and how the days of the week come and go, but if you take the time to truly analyze why you get excited for the weekend, you'll come to realize that it isn't just a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday thing.

It's a LIFE thing.

You're excited because you get out of the office.
You're excited because you get to celebrate and party on the weekends.
You're excited because you get some level of rest and freedom.
You're excited for a million other reasons.

but why do you only feel that on the weekends?
Why isn't Monday as exciting as Friday?
Why do we call it hump day?

At the end of any day, and everyday,
we CHOOSE what today is going to be.
We choose what tomorrow is going to be.

While business circumstances are often out of your hands,
your energy and mentality is not.

CHANGE YOUR PERCEPTION and watch how that
CHANGES THE OUTCOME.

Create the energy that gets you excited for Mondays, Tuesdays, and everyday.

We are so concerned with the destination, the trophy, the great reward, that we completely miss the beauty of the road to success.

Sure it's difficult. It's rocky, too many bumps, swirves, and maybe a few flat tires or engine failures.
But it's those difficult moments that are preparing us for the destination. It because of those challenges and set backs that the destination is so much sweeter.

The journey is where we truly get to know ourselves. It's where we meet those wonderful people that will teach us and mentor us. It's throughout the journey that our biggest life lessons are learned. This journey is where our deepest relationships are fostered.

Pro tip:
I remember sitting on a couch on the 21st floor somewhere in Toronto. A good friend of mine had just flown in from the UK for an overdue catch-up.

In those days, our heads were so focused on the numbers.
We loved the follows and the likes! I guess that’s how they wired us to be.

Looking back, I wish I could tell the younger me which metrics really mattered.

If you prioritize these success metrics, I can almost guarantee you’ll grow, consistently

#1 Results.

Your best marketing is the success stories your clients share with the world.

Small businesses are built on one-time satisfied customers.

Big businesses are built on repeat happy customers who refer more clients.

#2 Engagement.

Just because they have more followers, doesn’t mean they have more influence. It's not the size of your audience that matters most, it's the RELATIONSHIP you have with them that matters.

If content is king, then engagement is its offspring. Good content will help yield good engagement. You can't sell to those you don't engage with.

Reality check, people will never get to know the real you.

Whether they met you in person, became your best friend, or raised you as a baby, they'll never completely understand you.

Why? Because they don't live inside your mind.

They don't think your thoughts, feel your feelings, experience your experiences, or see the little deeds you might do behind the scenes every now and then.

The only person that'll know the real you is the human sometimes uncomfortably staring at you on the other side of the mirror.

It's that reflection that knows you on a much deeper level than the surface level of your identity.

Identity is simply an idea you have of yourself or that someone else has of you, and an idea isn't necessarily the truth.

Our truest identity is the who we are when nobody's watching, and only we get to experience 100% of that. For the rest of the world, they'll only ever get to see a piece of that pie.

Therefore, only we have the power, data, and facts to judge ourselves.

As Jay Z says, "Identity is a prison you can never escape."

During the process of growing our brands, we're going to have to accept the fact that everyone won't have the opportunity to truly see us or get to understand all the layers to our soul, and that's fine.

Just don't get someone else's idea of you confused with your idea of you. You've been with yourself since birth and they've only known you for a post.
