There are a lot of hidden gems in Utah but this is possibly the most underrated and overlooked place we visited on our Utah Mighty 5 road trip.
Dead Horse Point Utah State Park is $20 to visit and is so close to Canyonlands National Park with a literal fraction of the crowds. If you only have time for one view in the park, make it Dead Horse Point for views of Canyonlands and the Colorado River.
These are also some of the only photos that have made it off the computer and onto our walls at home - because would ya just look at it 🥹

Hotels are probably full, so send this to someone who hasn’t booked their eclipse trip yet 🙃
Where will you be for the historic solar eclipse on April 8, 2024?
ICYMI, this solar eclipse will last longer than 4 minutes (!!), which is the longest eclipse time in recent US history. But the only place you’ll be able to see it is within the path of totality, which includes parts of Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine.
(Map is on the last slide 🗺️)
I know I always preach camper van travel, but hear me out when I say that this is THE best time to rent a van or RV from 🚐
👉 Swipe to see why!
To save $$ on your rental, use code ECLIPSE24 for $30 off a booking of $500 with RVshare.
You can also purchase an eclipse package through RVshare’s partnership with Spot2Nite to instantly book an RV and campground spot along the path of totality, and have it set up and delivered to the camping spot of choice!
See you out there 🌞
Did you know there are three ways to see Taughannock Falls?
Honestly, most people don’t! And they end up missing out on some of the best views of this waterfall.
If you’re planning a trip to Taughannock Falls in the Finger Lakes, here are all the ways you can see it:
1. Hike to base of the falls via the Gorge Trail (easy). The trail is 1.8 miles out and back and can be completed in about an hour. This is where Google Maps takes you by default.
2. Go to the upper viewing platform (no hiking required). Put “Taughannock Falls Overlook View Point” into Google Maps.
3. Hike the nearby North Rim and South Rim Trail Loop (easy - moderate hike). This loop is 2.9 miles and circles the upper part of the gorge. From there, you can get more completely unobstructed, picture perfect views of Taughannock Falls.
🗓️ The best time to go is late spring when there’s the most water and leaves are on the trees. While Taughannock Falls is accessible year round, the falls usually dry up in the middle of summer.
Tip: Your visit to Taughannock Falls can be easily combined with Buttermilk Falls, Robert H Treman and Watkins Glen State Parks as part of a Finger Lakes NY road trip.

The Hoh Rainforest has been on my travel wishlist ever since learning that its home the quietest place in the continental United States.
Known as the “One Square Inch of Silence”, the project was established in an effort to protect one of the most complex ecosystems in the world from human noise.
The logic behind it is simple. By identifying and protecting a small slice of forest that is 100% free from human noise pollution, it will also impact many square miles around it, thus helping to protect the parks natural soundscape.
This place is so magical that it makes my heart so happy to know that such efforts are put forth to protect it.
While we didn’t actually visit the One Square Inch of Silence, we did try to emulate it by visiting this nearby part of the forest before anyone else arrived. There were no cars, no planes, and no people. We wandered along the empty trails, watching the morning light rays dance through fog that hadn’t yet lifted, and listening to sounds of the forest as it began to awaken.
If you visit the Hoh Rainforest, make the effort to visit as early as possible. It’s worth the extra effort to experience a bit of the silence for yourself. 🌿
You might not know this, but I studied environmental science in college (ad). One of my required courses was field ecology, where class was held outside in rain or shine…or - in the case of winter in Upstate NY - freezing temperatures and lots of snow.
Aside from giving me a deep appreciation of local ecology, that class also taught me a vital life lesson: there is no such thing as bad weather - only the wrong clothes.
And that’s where steps in. With LLBean, it’s never too cold, too wet, or too snowy.
Gearing up with LLBean means choosing the right clothes that allow us to get outside and spend time doing what we love, with people who mean the most - no matter what the weather says ❄️
WEARING:
LLBean Women’s:
• Ultralight 850 Down Hooded Jacket (as someone who runs VERY cold all the time, this jacket is now a staple in my outdoor winter wardrobe)
• Pathfinder Performance Fleece Jacket
• Adults’ Katahdin Pom Hat
LLBean Men’s:
• Bean’s Down Hooded Jacket
• Adults’ Ragg Wool Hat

Travel.
Make memories.
Have adventures.
Because I guarantee when you’re 85 and on your death bed you won’t think about that flashy car you bought. Or the twenty pairs of designer shoes you owned.
But you will think about that time you got lost in your favorite city. The nights you spent falling in love under the stars and all of the beautiful people you met along the way.
You’ll think of the moments that made you feel truly alive. And at the very end, those memories will be the only valuable possession you own.
—-
💭EKP
I’ve shared this quote several times over the years, and I’ll probably share it a bunch more. I’m a huge believer in choosing experiences over things and these words are the best reminder to do just that.
I don’t remember the designer bags and expensive clothes that I *needed* to have in my early 20s. But I sure as hell remember every flight I’ve ever taken, the first time I touched a glacier, the feeling of jumping into a Gatorade colored lake in the Canadian wilderness, and the smell of a campfire on a warm summer night in the Adirondacks.
Research actually shows that experiences bring greater and longer lasting happiness than material possessions. And this is the only life you get. So invest in yourself by booking that flight, taking that road trip, and saying yes to that adventure you’ve been dreaming about for so long.
Your future self will thank you 🤍

📍 Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park, South Island, New Zealand
POV: My camera roll after 1 month in New Zealand 🇳🇿
Living the van life in New Zealand will forever be one of my favorite bucket list experiences 🥹 From winding mountain roads to ocean-front campsites, it’s almost as if someone designed this place with the sole purpose of road tripping in a campervan.
NZ travel has been trending this year, so if you plan on going then I highly recommend renting a van to make the absolute most of your time.
I have a full guide to 17+ things you need to know about campervans and driving in NZ on my bl0g, The Adventures Atlas. Click the 🔗 on my profile.
Are you planning to visit NZ?
Mushy post alert 🥰 but I couldn’t resist using Valentines Day as the perfect excuse to post some of my favorite photos from around the world with my favorite person.
I’m truly so grateful to be with someone who is so smart, funny and talented and who loves and supports me (and every crazy adventure and business idea) endlessly. - doing life with you makes it the best adventure ✨❤️
What’s in and what’s out in 2024 (swipe left)
Starting the New Year with a fresh perspective, including saying yes to more meaningful and responsible adventures.
Personally, I think we should all say yes to more staycations, authenticity, micro adventures, and unique experiences 🥰
IN: ✨
• Airplane skincare – don’t forget the sunscreen!
• Carry-ons – packing smarter and traveling lighter
• Micro-adventures – discovering more hidden gems closer to home and visiting places that you can see in a shorter timeframe (lots of Upstate NY content coming atcha)
• Cabincore – embracing cozy, rustic getaways
* Authenticity – savoring real moments, no filters needed
• Working 9-5 and still doing what you love – balancing work and passion without feeling like quitting your job is the only way
• Maximizing PTO – making the most of precious time off
• Offbeat destinations – uncovering hidden gems off the tourist trail
OUT: 🚫
• Overplanned itineraries – the best trips leave room for spontaneity!
• Excessive screen time – don’t forget to connect with the world offline
• Algorithm scaries – posting unique and original content that resonates instead of following content trends
• All-inclusive resorts and non-local souvenirs – opt for unique, local stays instead and buy handicrafts from local artisans
• Mainstream cruises – mainstream cruise companies are terrible for the environment. Before you book a cruise, check the cruise ship report card on foe.org 🙃
What would you add to these lists?
When someone tells me they want to stay in a cabin in the woods in Upstate New York, this is what comes to mind🌲❤️
This cute little cabin was handcrafted using hand slit cedar shingles and locally harvested wood.
You won’t have power, WiFi, or cell phone service here. But you will find the best connection to nature, nestled underneath the tall Scotch pines of the Adirondack wilderness.
📍
If you live in New York, here are 7 international destinations that are only a 5 hour non-stop flight from JFK…
…which is the same time it takes to drive from one side of New York State to the other 😉
1-2: Ecuador (JFK → UIO)
3: Banff National Park (JFK or EWR → YYC)
4-5: Iceland (JFK, EWR, SWF → KEF)
6-7: Costa Rica (JFK or EWR → SJO)
8: Panama (JFK → PTY)
9: The Azores (JFK → PDL)
10: Belize (JFK → BZE)
🔑 One thing I hope you take away from my account is that the KEY to traveling with a full time job is to maximize your PTO by visiting more places that are easily accessible, like any of the countries listed here!

Did you know there are three ways to see Kaaterskill Falls?
Kaaterskill is actually two waterfalls - the Upper Falls and the Lower Falls. Combined, they make the tallest waterfall in New York State.
I recommend Kaaterskill Falls to a lot of people because it’s breathtaking and also has trail options for different levels of hiking abilities and adventure preferences.
If you are planning a trip to Kaaterskill Falls in the Catskills of Upstate NY, here are all the ways you can see it:
1. Get a Birds Eye from from the viewing platform at the top of the Falls. It’s an easy 0.5 mile walk from the parking lot on Laurel House Rd. This is one of the most popular and accessible ways to see Kaaterskill Falls.
2. Hike down to the base of the Upper Falls. This path is about a mile and more challenging. There are lot of stairs and steeper sections. It leads you to a closer view of the middle cascade, which has a drop of about 85 feet.
3. Go all the way down to the lower section of Kaaterskill Falls. This trail allows you to get up close to the lower cascade.
⚠️ There have been fatal accidents here. Before going on any of these hikes, be well-prepared with appropriate footwear, water, and follow Leave No Trace by packing out ALL of your trash.
❄️ The stairs and trail are covered in ice in the winter. Microspikes are required

Last week we discovered a hidden gem that’s been right under our nose.
While I was growing up, Saratoga Springs was the backdrop of many concerts, sunny days at the track, and shopping sprees.
But what I recently learned is that Saratoga also makes the perfect year-round staycation, nature getaway, foodie hotspot, and place to stretch your legs en route from NYC to the Adirondacks. This charming city has it all.
Huge thank you to for hosting us for their “Mushroom Experience” part of CulinaryArts@SPAC. From art, music, mushroom-infused cocktails and a gourmet dinner, it was the perfect fall getaway to Saratoga Springs.
Here are some of my favorite photos from our weekend at :
📸 1: Enjoying a mushroom-infused cocktail at the “Mushroom Experience”
📸 2: Exploring wooded trails in Saratoga Spa State Park
📸 3: The Mushroom Experience first course: Rissole of Black Pearl and Chestnut Mushroom
📸 4: Trees in the park
📸 5: The best sticky bun at Bread Basket Bakery
📸 6: Boutique shopping in downtown Saratoga
📸 7: The most aesthetic leaves
📸 8: Scenes from Saratoga Spa State Park
📸 9: Freshwater springs and geysers in Saratoga Spa State Park
📸 10: Being touristy at the welcome sign in front of Marylou Whitney Park
The next CulinaryArts@SPAC event is happening on January 26 - keep an eye out for the announcement coming on Nov 30!
This was our first time in West Virginia and now I can see why it’s called
Who knew WV had colors like this?!
From the colors, to the small mountain towns, and Appalachian culture and cuisine, WV is the perfect place for an adventurous road trip on the East Coast.
🍁 Here are a few of my favorite moments from our fall road trip through southern West Virginia:
📸 1: Scenic overlook in Pipestem Resort State Park
📸 2: Watching sunset from the Almost Heaven swing in Pipestem Resort State Park (there are a bunch of these swings throughout the state! Find them all at wvtourism.com)
📸 3: Brush Creek Falls in Athens, WV (1 of 40 waterfalls along the West Virginia Waterfall Trail!)

Have you been to the Pocono Mountains?
Last weekend we escaped to , a cozy Airbnb in the Poconos in Pennsylvania. If you want to escape the hustle and bustle and disconnect in nature for a few days, this is where I’d tell you to go. The house sits on a huge piece of property dotted with black walnut trees and corn fields that meets the Delaware River.
When we weren’t curled up in the living room or enjoying coffee on the wrap around deck, we were wandering the trails around the property (the walnut grove was my favorite), building bonfires next to the water, and kayaking on the river.
Details:
- Dog friendly 🐶
- Sleeps 6 people
- 3 bedrooms/3 beds
- 2 full baths
This Airbnb in the Poconos is centrally located to cute little towns for shopping, like Bethel, NY for concerts, and Ski Big Bear at Masthope Mountain.

Preserving the places we love starts at home, and it’s a lot easier than you might think
I’m often asked which places I love the most, so here’s a collection of destinations around the world that stole my heart.
Recently I made a small switch to help protect these places while at home. I switched our home to CleanChoice Energy®. CleanChoice Energy is a clean energy supplier and sources energy from regional wind and solar farms, which helps reduce our collective dependence on fossil fuels.
How it works:
- Head over to to sign up
- Keep using your electricity exactly as you do now
- Your utility company still handles outages and sends the bill as they normally do
- Cancel at any time (there’s no cancellation fee or long term commitment). I signed up in less than 2 minutes using my home address and utility account number.
Busy as we are, every sustainable choice we make has an impact. The beauty is, with CleanChoice Energy, you don't have to change your daily life to make a change that matters.

Peak foliage season is here in most areas of the Northeast!
The best places to witness the fall color display are in deciduous forests around lakes and ponds, on scenic drives, and on low mountain summits.

Happy peak season from the Adirondack Mountains 🍁 Have you seen a more perfect fall escape?
We’ve been looking forward to staying at .pine.lodge for months and let me tell you - it did NOT disappoint. It took everything in me not to stay curled up in the upstairs bedroom with a good book and a cup of coffee.

Up until a few years ago, all I wanted to do was run away from Upstate NY.
I contemplated living in every country I visited, considered selling everything for a nomadic lifestyle, and dreamed of making a beeline for the PNW with no plans of coming back.
But once the pandemmy hit, I (like so many of us), was forced to stay put, with no other choice but to explore my own backyard. That’s when realized that living in Upstate NY is such a gift. To be just a short drive from views of pristine mountain lakes, to experience some of the most vibrant fall colors in the world, and live near the largest protected natural area in the lower 48 is something that is so unique to this little corner of the USA.
Living in Upstate NY might not necessarily be in the cards for me forever, but I sure do love living here and it will always be home 🤍

I’ve been craving a camping getaway so last weekend, Greg and I did just that 🏕️
We packed up our road trip essentials, including Tic Tac® mints, and took a little weekend road trip to Heart Lake Campground near Lake Placid in Upstate NY.
This is one of my favorite places to unwind and unplug, surrounded by the Adirondack High Peaks. We hung out by the campfire, meandered through the forest, and admired the sunset from our canoe on Heart Lake.
Normally our weekend adventures are packed to the brim, so it was so refreshing to finally choose relaxation and spend time enjoying some unexpected pit stops and all the sweet moments in between.
We kept the adventure fresh with Strawberry & Cream Tic Tac® mints, which are satisfyingly fruity, yet creamy and refreshing.
Whether you prefer minty or fruity, find your favorite Tic Tac flavor in your nearest convenience store to refresh your next road trip.

Whoever said wearing white hiking boots was a good idea …was absolutely right 😆🥾 When I pulled my @vivobarefoot Magna Lite hiking boots out of the box, I can’t tell you how many people made a comment about how my white hiking boots “won’t stay white for very long”. But these boots are awesome. This color ‘Oat Milk’ is so unique and I love how light and versatile they are. I knew they would get dirty on the trail, but something I love about Vivobarefoot is their commitment to crafting high quality boots, so I knew they’d come clean - and they did! But at the end of the day, if your outdoor gear doesn’t look a little used, are you really getting good use out of it? (ad)
3 MORE things I stopped doing so I could travel more affordably (ad) 👇 (Like this post if you find this helpful and check part 1 if you missed it) 1️⃣ I stopped putting all of my money into one bank account. Now I have a designated account just for travel money and we only travel when we have enough in that account to cover the main expenses like flights, hotels, and rental cars. Here’s a tip: Have a set amount direct deposited into your travel fund every time you get paid. Any little bit adds up and it’s a great way to save for your next trip without thinking about it. 2️⃣ I stopped using my cell phone data internationally. This is a big one because it’s SO easy to rack up hundreds of dollars in data roaming fees without even realizing it. Instead, I use @airalocom eSIM app to activate digital SIM cards in over 200 countries and regions, so I can use my phone and browse the internet. Airalo eSIM helps me stay connected while I travel for as much as a cup of coffee, which saves me a ton of money. Tip: Use code JKROW3 for $3 off your first Airalo eSIM ✈️ 3️⃣ I stopped converting money at the airport. This is actually THE worst place to exchange money because they can charge you almost 14%! For the best rates, I always order currency at my local bank before my trip. You usually have to do this a few days ahead of time, but you’ll save on foreign exchange and ATM fees. Plus, it’s always nice to be prepared with some cash once you get to where you’re going. Did you find these helpful? Let me know in the comments! #airalo #eSIM #airaloapp

I’m not being dramatic when I say I think about this sunrise almost every day 🌅 While Madeira has definitely been on the map recently, THIS is the place that truly blew my mind for the first time in a long time. A combination of having less than 8 hours to see as much as possible, putting an itinerary together just off the recommendations of the locals, racing to the top of the tallest mountain on the island at 4AM on 2 hours of sleep, and then witnessing the most jaw-dropping sunrise I think I’ve ever seen, has me dreaming of returning to Madeira almost every. single. day. Something I haven’t seen anyone talk about is this thing called the ‘hedonic treadmill’ of frequent travel. It’s the idea that no matter what happens, good or bad, our levels of happiness tend to return to a baseline over time. It happens with a lot of things in life. But when you travel a lot, your baseline for what’s exciting or visually beautiful gets higher and higher. It’s like when you first start traveling, every new place feels like a scene straight out of a postcard. But the more you travel (or even scroll through beautiful places on social media), the more it takes to really be in awe of what’s in front of you. It’s like the more places you see, your brain starts to do this thing like, ‘oh, a mountain range? It’s beautiful, but I’ve seen bigger.’ You start comparing, even if you don’t mean to. For me, this phenomenon is what pushes me to find more unique and off-the-beaten-path places, seek authentic connections, and find beauty in the details or in the stories of the places we visit, not just the visuals. If you’ve experienced this feeling, while it might feel like you’re getting jaded, it just seems like an invitation to dig deeper, explore further, and find new ways to appreciate the world. And I think that’s what makes travel so endlessly fascinating ✨
Pack with me for 7 days in the jungle of Costa Rica 🌴 (ad) For travel-friendly footwear, @vivobarefoot is a game-changer. Vivobarefoot shoes are designed to be ultra-lightweight and flexible, which is great for your feet, but also means you can fold them up so small that they take up minimal packing space. 🥾 My top pick for hiking in the rainforest are the Vivobarefoot Tracker Forest ESC boots. They’re part of their Ecological Survival Collection (more from them on this very soon 🤫), so they’re specifically designed for hiking in the forest. 👟 For everything else, I’m packing the new Vivobarefoot Sensus shoes because they’re so versatile and the leather is ultra-flexible and soft, so it fits like a glove. Other things that should be on your Costa Rica packing list for 7 days: • Rain jacket • 2-3 pairs of shorts and 1 pair of breathable/quick dry pants • 4-5 t-shirts/tanks • 1-2 Long-sleeve shirts • Swimsuits • Sandals • Sun protection (hat/sunglasses/sunscreen) • Reusable water bottle • Toiletries/personal items • Camera gear • Day pack Did I forget anything? Let me know in the comments!
