🕯️In biblical Hebrew, “hope” is about waiting or expectation, and it’s most often directed toward God.
This hope is rooted in God’s unwavering faithfulness. The people of Israel waited expectantly for the future by reflecting on God’s actions in the past.
What are you hoping for today?

🕯️The word “advent” means “arrival” and is used to describe the start of an event or arrival of a person.
Advent is a four-week season in the Church calendar that anticipates the arrival of Jesus. Christians from around the world and different traditions observe this season through shared experiences of meditation and prayer.
This Advent, we’re participating in the tradition of reflecting on the concepts of hope, love, peace, and joy—one for each week leading up to Christmas. Over the next four weeks, join us in anticipating the arrival of the long-awaited Jesus of Nazareth.

First of all.
I apologize for the mustache.
Haha.
I’m offending myself.
And Agur is spelled with a u.
Captions weren’t cooperating.
Secondly.
I I think the important thing when trying to make sense of scripture is to let seemingly opposing scriptures define and interpret each other. For instance, I believe in praying the prayer of Jabez, but it must be prayed alongside Agur’s prayer. When I do this, I realize praying for growth is a good thing, but expecting infinite growth may not be. Expand my territory! But don’t ever expand it to the point where I forget you God. Maybe we ought to pray, don’t expand too much or too quickly where my ego leads me away from you. Do you see the checks and balances here?
For those of you who will ask, here is a bit more of Agur’s prayer from Proverbs 30.
““Two things I ask of you, Lord; do not refuse me before I die: Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread. Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, ‘Who is the Lord?’ Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God.”
Proverbs 30:7-9 NIV
Paul says
“But godliness with contentment is great gain.”
1 Timothy 6:6 NIV
The great gain Agur seems to be asking for is godliness with contentment. Contentment itself is the gain!
Daily bread.
Daily bread.
Daily bread.
In other words,
great gain might be realizing what you already have.
Happy Thanksgiving everybody.

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10
