Binh Ba Island
Located far from Cam Ranh Bay about 15km and Nha Trang city about 60 km. Binh Ba Island is also known as the “Lobster island”, a tourist destination should not be missed in your trip to Nha Trang with wild scenery, sunshine, smooth white sandy beaches…
When to visit Binh Ba Island
The best time to visit Binh Ba Island is from March to September on dry season with sunny days and hot weather which can hinder you from exploring totally its beauty. However, the other months are still worth -visiting.
How to get to Binh Ba Island
If you skip Nha Trang, you can just travel from Cam Ranh Airport to Ba Ngoi Port. If you want to get to Binh Ba from Nha Trang, you will have to travel a distance of almost 50km by train or by bus.
At Ba Ngoi Port, take a boat to the island which is about 15 minutes away. To come to the island, the boat on Ba Ngoi Port (5km away from Cam Ranh Station) runs 4 trips a day, departing from the port at 7:00, 10:00, 13:00 and 16:00 and arriving at 5:00, 9:00, 12:00 and 16:30 each day.
Where to stay on Binh Ba Island
Because the island is still remote, there aren’t so much accommodation facilities for you. There are some locals who open hostels for tourists. The price ranges from 70,000-100,000VND per room. Or you can ask locals to rent tents for camping on the beach. But do not camp too close to the water or camp on stormy nights.
What to see & do at Binh Ba Island
There are total 7 beaches on the island but only 3 of them are accessible.
Nom Beach is the most beautiful beach on the island, having a bow back sand beach with gigantic stones on the two top sides. You will be pleasure in the blue beach stretching out to the skyline.
Nha Cu Beach has dense coral. Take your diving eyeglasses, just bow your body into the water will be a scene of a beautiful ocean with a group of colorful fishes in the beach. You can also find many urchins here.
Chuong Beach is an ideal place to watch the sunrise on the island. The sun progressively rises, a red covering the sky creating a mystery moments.
Activities: Swimming & Snorkeling
What should not be missed when traveling to Binh Ba is hiring ship to get to beautiful beaches and snorkeling for coral viewing.
Package price of ship hiring to all the beach is 1 million - 1,2 million VND per trip, depending on-site, so if you go with many people, it will save more. Remember to bring your swimming goggles to enjoy snorkeling and diving. Diving goggles may be slightly difficult to unfamiliar wearer.
You even do not need to get into the water for snorkeling. Occasionally, at Nha Cu beach with low ide, colorful coral reefs will be basking in the sun, you can just look at, touch and enjoy.
Binh Ba market has features of the fishing village, with some delicious and cheap snacks as: flan, barbecue, candies, etc.
What to eat at Binh Ba Island
Binh Ba Island is famous for its and fresh lobster and seafood. Therefore, you definitely can not visit the island without eating seafood.
There are blue lobster and shrimp here, each type has two price range. Lobster prices are from 400,000 to 600,000 VND/kilo. Alive shrimp: 1.4mil VND/kilo- 1.8mil VND/kilo. Shrimp prices depends on the day, depending on season, but certainly cheaper than other places from 30% to 50%.
There is plenty of lobster, shrimp, fish, sea snails, sea cucumber, abalone, oysters, squid, ... Just ask the price and choose the most favorites, then ask the restaurant to cook. You can sit and eat at the restaurant or ask them to bring food to Nom Beach beach to enjoy while watching the sea.
In addition, there are many shops selling delicious and cheap food like bread soup/noodle fried fish (fried or steamed), barbecue bun, noodles, macaroni, noodles, smoothies, baked roll... Price of this item is only from 10k - 20k.
In the early morning, between 5:30 - 7 pm there will be a market at the pier. The fishing boats arrive and seafood sellers gather. The price of mainly fish and squid are quite cheap. If you want to buy more types of fish wait for more fish until 8:00.
