This week we had Paige’s mom on the podcast! When we first started our podcast we knew we eventually wanted Nana to come on. No one tells a better story than her! We set out to have a very funny episode of stories from Paige’s childhood and what we got was stories of God’s goodness and grace. At one point both Paige and nana were crying tears of thankfulness for God’s goodness. Enjoy Nana’s story hour!

Do you ever feel like you have a super power? I have one. Seriously, i do. Bridal showers, baby showers, live events, you name it… if there’s a prize to be won, it’s mine!!

So when I was in the complete and utter depletion of my soul after our second miscarriage I PLEADED with God to give me this door prize. I wasn’t completely shocked when the Lord gave it right to me. What I didn’t expect was how much this sign would be a reminder to me of how the Lord would hold me during some of the hardest, emptiest years of my life.

Today’s episode on the podcast is about miscarriage. And even if you haven’t experienced one, maybe it’ll still speak to your heart & maybe even make you laugh a little!

When our lives fell apart, there were a couple of weeks where I just kept saying “I am so tired of doing good” My soul was groaning and living out the opposite of Gal 6:9. There have been loads of times I’ve sinned against Mike. But this sin against me felt so dang heavy. I felt like a victim who couldn’t see past the pain of what happened to me- completely blindsided by it all. But the Lord, kind in His mercy, it was Him alone who held me. He gave me the strength to breathe when I didn’t think I could. He gave me wisdom and discernment to move forward in Him. In the darkest moments of my life, He lead me. And I’m more than happy to scream it from the mountaintop that you can make it too. Whatever you’re going through, the Lord so deeply longs to be right beside you, giving you His strength to get through it. I beg you, lean into Him and watch what He’ll do.

Yesterday my sweet friend adopted her teen foster son. We had the immense joy of watching it via zoom. I asked Zao to join me. She asked what adoption was and I explained that this boy’s birth parents took medicine they shouldn’t have and then they craved that medicine. They eventually wanted that medicine more than they wanted to be with their babies. Their brains weren’t working right and they couldn’t take care of their kids. They gave their kids over to my friends for them to raise. And my friends now get to be mommy and daddy to this boy.

The deepest of pains was not lost on our daughter. She’s our most emotive one after all, empathetic to her core. And after thinking on it, she gave me the biggest hug and said “I know you and daddy will never do that. You’ll never pick medicine instead of us.”

And that’s when it hit me. She had no idea. She had absolutely no idea what this last year had been. She didn’t know what absolute hell and heartache we felt. And more importantly, she didn’t know that her own dad had fallen into that same sin against her and against our God.

My gosh- it broke me. I could barely move, let alone speak. I can’t even begin to thank God for how he rewrote our story. The depths of redemption bleeding over each one of us daily. Mike’s hard work & the grace of God alone has redeemed what was stolen. And there’s not even a hint to our babies of what could have been.

HIS goodness knows no bounds.
