Hachidori V2 HDzero

Building out a new with the Hachidori V2 frame. Love how low the mount and eco camera sits between the ducts, you would not be able to tell it’s an hdzero rig!

Went off script of the designer notes of using the mob7 frame to mount on the carbon fiber and went with chopping things up and using the whoop ducts themselves for the build. I have enough spare Mob7 frames to try out the other way anyways.
°
The TrueRC SMOL is also nicely tucked under the 3dprinted canopy which hopefully is strong enough to protect it!
°
It’s a decent weight at 29.35g, the 0802 27000kv motors account a bit of that and hopefully won’t rainbow out a lot as compared to when i had it on other builds…i may change out the motors later but i wanted this thing to be a rocket!

NBD LiteAF Race Frames

Built a couple lightweights using ‘s newly released LiteAF frames! They are surprisingly light where the black was 2.38g while the white is the advertised 2.4g! These are the lightest frames that I know of! Build specs of the and analogue builds at the very bottom!

Check out the recessed motor mount holes, I really like this design, not just the screw holes but mount location itself, hard to explain so you gotta look at the pics! Makes for sliding on the ground so easy without worrying about shredding your Reny screws. You gotta use either their really short m1.4 2mm screws or you gotta snip the reny screws shorter (which I did) so that it doesn’t push up against the motors pcb…

Speaking of motors, I was genuinely surprised the 0702 29000kv motors handled the extra weight of the HDzero Eco. 2min to 2:20 depending on flying hard on old Tattu’s. Absolutely shocked there was no rainbowing as I was expecting high voltage sag from these motors. There weren’t any!

1.6” BabyTurtle HdZero Eco

Snug fitting of the CrossF4 and Eco onto the 1.6” BabyTurtle frame!

Was a lot easier to fit the Eco camera onto the mount and frame of the baby turtle! Opted for 1102 22000kv motors because it was what I had on hand, lol. Hopefully it does pull too much amps to rainbow the vtx system…all in all a very tight looking build, back of the camera is really close to the FC, i ended up wedging foam there just in case.

Don’t mind the ghetto rubberband battery mount lol. Hover test is good but still need to secure the vtx antenna and power lead, and also secure the motor wires. Will deal with that after a good outdoor rip! (yes i do realize the loose screw on the camera mount standoff)

Mounted the Eco on the beaten and battered Meteor 75 air frame with pretty easy to tune 1s 5amp serial elrs, fc.

One thing i really liked about the Eco cam is that it’s easy to find mounts for it! Any mount for a caddx ant lite would work! Desoldered the 4 wires and added some lighter gauge ones! Noticed immediately the provided monopole antenna had some terrible reception so added a simple dipole. Went with the nbd Plaids as it’s been an efficient combo for an HDzero build! Some test to come soon with footage, stay tuned!

Happy Easter!

Meet Easter Whoop 2.0 with Drip. Blinged up the 1s build. Now with 3d printed outline bunny ears, making it more aerodynamic. Unlike last year's which acted like sails, lol. I wanted to make it more visible, so added LED Drips! It looks sick when it glares off the ears!

Flew it at a nearby park and was an absolute winners. Kids recognized it right away and parents thought it was hilarious having kids chasing it around

DIY Prop Popper!

Looks like there are a few more Prop popper 3dprint designs showing up on sites! Grabbed this file off thingiverse and only needed to purchase a SIM removal tool ($9 for 6 SIM tools) as the pin on it is used to push on the motor shaft. Already had a beefy prop removal tool from some time ago, maybe from ? 🤷‍♂️

I like the DIY one because of the really big fork, gets under basically the hub of the prop to prep the pop but it takes more finessing to alight the pin to the prop hole. The version slides a lot smoother and was a lot easier to line up with the prob hole but was hard to get under the the prop with the fork. I like my props pushed all the way down! Other thing it lacked was a spring. Which I was easily able to add using spare SCX24 suspension springs i had laying around, definitely what was needed for these!

The DIY did require extra diy for it to work. The thumb pusher didn’t secure to the SIM tool so i had to glue it on. Didn’t have an appropriate sized screw and nut but was able to make due with a smaller sizing to secure the fork. All in all, I now have a prop removal tool on the bench and extra in my bag 😉

Put together a build with the recent order and so far it looks pretty, minus the temporary strapped on capacitor at the back, lol

I’ve heard good stuff with the 0802 27000kv motors with dual bearings but so far, the high KV’s are rainbowing the hdzero whenever punching out. The capacitor so far has addressed that but both 300mah and 450mah come down pretty warm after flying around.
°
Weight doesn’t help either, with it hitting around 30g for a 75mm hdzero build. Goober v2 while it offers really great protection for the Nano v3 hdzero camera and lens, is pretty heavy. Include the weight of the nbd 0802motors, it quickly adds up.
°
Digging the happymodel SuperX fc, comes with long screws to mount the hdzero vtx, decent weight, 12amp esc that can do 1 or 2s. And big plus is a way to bridge some pads to then be able to use an external receiver cause so far in my experience, the serial elrs built into the aio fc’s eventually fail or just suddenly one day start to have terrible reception for no reason 🙄. It's my first experience with this FC so time will tell how dependable they are.

After flying with it a bit more, I’ll try throttle limiting the motors down to see if it’ll help with keeping the lipos cool. I can hear motors struggling when opening the throttle up, can’t keep up supplying the power maybe…and also look for a 3d file for a lighter canopy for the Nano v3

Did a little tweaking with my lightest 🪶 whoop. Still worth noting, there is nothing modified to the frame and canopy. I could easily cheat-shave some extra weight by hacking those up! Weight now sits at 15.93. (it was a bit lighter using the hacked up Nbd Azi props before).

Newest thing added to the feather-weight build are the new HQprop Ultra-light Props! One prop weights about 0.14g. Be interesting to see how good the durability of these are. The feel reminds me of the old 40mm Eachine tri-props from way back…

Broke the Micro Air canopy before so it got swapped with a spare green one. Not exactly a fan of the canopy. When installed, it gives me too aggressive an fpv angle. Probably more suited to racers than to my freestyle so I may switch this out to a lightweight 3d printed one.

Changed up the pigtail so it’s full 180° bt2.0 connector now. Added a red 3dprinted tpu thong(?)/ we**ie(?) that runs from the front to back of the fc screw points because I did not like how the canopy bent the rear screw backwards. This added a touch bit of weight overall but at least it also helps secure the vtx down.

I have a 1s analog counterpart with the 2s hdzero variant, pretty certain I’ll be flying the latter version more.
°
The build was basically a migration of hardware from the previous Nano90 HDzero Baby Turtle build I built about 3 months ago except it’s now an overall thinner looking build using a Whoop Nano Lite camera.
°
Frame as usually is well thought out. Nicely fitting the Whoop Nano lite camera snug in front, sandwich tightly between the carbon and standoffs.The 1102 14000kv motors on 2s (2x 1s for that matter) for this build meant cruising was about 25% throttle, lol. Pretty ridiculous. TunerRc’s EZ board is able to cope with 2s and Mpu6000 meant flying with it was smooth as hell!

Already knew this thing was quiet but having a dedicated HDzero baby turtle frame without the use of a heavy nano90 camera i had before and no longer needed 3d printed parts meant overall lighter and even quieter to fly quad! Absolutely love it and will have some footage to provide soon!

Would of liked to use the Mobula7 v4 as the frame since its lighter but does not offer enough protection for the props as it protrudes above the ducts. Tried 75pro frame with battery tray removed and a couple struts i didn’t think were useful.

Not sure how the motors will perform but should it be too much power draw, it should be easy to switch off to a lower kv motor or may even consider different motors and run 2s. Should work since CrossF4 FC supports 2s.
°
Hover tests ok but the real test is when flying outside. All in all, it weights 36.15g. Might be able to drop some weight using a different 3d printed canopy and battery mount…

This thing looks, well…pretty much is nose heavy lol. Wanted to try building a 2s Baby Turtle to take advantage of the 90fps Nano90 camera. Maidening this thing is going to prove interesting!

There are some strange building decisions, like the 2x A30 connectors to be used with my bt2.0 lipos. I have so many 1s lipos, I thought i could make use of a 2x 1s setup…I’m pretty certain i’ll be getting unwanted voltage sag but again, worth a try!

Found the camera mount on Thingiverse but i think it’s meant for a Micro camera, the Nano90 was just too long. Had to edit the file, and it’s still not providing good protection…so I have still some more tweaking to do…Other changes to consider would be to put on a Singularity for the vtx. Switching the Nano90 for a Nano Lite camera. Switching to proper xt30 connector and use 2s lipos.

Let me show you how to use 3D filament to fix any kind of damage on your tiny whoop frames using plastic welding. I was using the Cloth tape and super glue method before but found I was able to get my Tiny Whoops back in the air faster with frames that were just as strong as before using the plastic weld way! Repurposed Tomoquad Whoopee now with HDzero and Runcam Nano90 camera. Finally able to put this together after getting a replacement 12amp flight controller…

WIll be testing this beauty out on 2s, it’s amazing that the Whoopee frame can still be used a few years later using Meteor75pro ducts and 45mm Tri-blades. The motors are a little dated, using HM 1102 10000kv motors.

Eventually will be mounting a Naked Runcam Thumb Pro on it use it as a . Other things i may switch to is xt30 connector rather than 2x1s lipo (decided to try this because i have SO many 1s 300mah and 450mah…), a Nano Lite hdzero camera (only have nano90 on hand). And may go with updated motors if these HM’s aren’t enough to get the lift I want with the naked Thumb pro.

Found a reason to reuse the 0804 19000kv motors paired with 45mm bi-props and 450mah 1s gives me a good 2minutes of hard run time.

The Meteor 75pro frame does feel chunky so lets hope the durability is there with the weight, totalling near 34.5g…Also these 20mm SMOL antennas are freaking tiny and tucks nicely under the canopy.

Now outfitted with the Runcam Nano90 and new HappyModel CrossF4 fc. CrossF4 turned out to be a little difficult to work with especially when having motors direct soldered. There's no big pads to work with when motor connectors are removed. While Betafpv version does. Cross F4 does have current meter which I'm a fan of.

The Nano 90 camera with its 90fps is really nice but kinda wasted on a 1s build as it doesn't move fast enough to take advantage of it lol. Not sure if the OG Fpvcycle 1303 can handle 2s but the HM fc can. Might experiment one day?

It hovers at 35% throttle but the camera mount has it angled too low, so I don't fly as fast haha. Decent punch despite it weighing about 55g dry. 10g heavier than my analog babytooth. 450mah tattu's gives it a fight time of 2 minutes so might do better with bigger lipos.

Anyways I think this build would benefit going 2s but I'll play around with it on 1s for a bit. I can definitely make it lighter with a different antenna and the HDzero whoop nano camera.

Swapped out the 5a 1s Elrs flight controller for a new one. As I somehow overheat dmg’d the old one which resulted in noticeable reduced range…make sure you have that fan pointed directly on your drone if it’s powered on the bench!

HDzero Whoop LIte bundle has already been conformal coated along with the flight controller. Direct soldered the Flow 0802 19000kv motors as I’m interested to see how they stack up to the HM motors of the same KV.
°
3dPrinted parts consist of the ufl retainer for the ultra short singularity and a custom remixed canopy for the camera. Didn’t like how short the original design was so I added some height to the canopy so that there is less possibility of the camera smashing onto the vtx board.
°
It now weighs almost 29g, likely due to the printed stuff and I think the nbd motors might actually be a little heavier than HM’s. But it sounds so smooth spinning the 1610 bi-props. I’m pretty sure this thing is a tank now because of that canopy. The original HDzero mob canopy may be light but it’s brittle…As usual, reflashed the Quicksilver firmware on this little bad boy 😎

That just means lots of family time. And although there wasn’t a lot of flying, managed to piece together a outfit for the Moblite7hdzero whoop and using a build kit, put together a swanky Gingerbread House with my son!

First off, this thing looks cool! I love love love the Dial for cell select. It’s like a fancy series charging board with that thing, unlike other boards that use jumpers.
°
The fact you can get the board with PH2.0/BT2.0 (or GNB27) included and pre soldered on makes it really worth considering. Other boards I’ve come across, you have to supply those connectors on your own and solder them.
°
I use the board to discharge my 1s lipos for storage as well. Handy when I’m spent from flying and got extra batts. There’s a 5amp fuse on there, though I’m not sure if there’s a likelihood where where it’d pop but what do i know…
°
Regardless, check out (www.viflydrone.com) if you’re interested in one. I’m still looking to get their WhoopStor v2 for charging while out and about!

Converted my Mobula6Hdzero to a Mobula7 v4 frame. Now enjoying almost an extra minute of flight time with 40mm props while still using 350 mah lipos. Bonus extra flight time using 450+ mah.
