You guys know how much I love their product and I now love them even more as a business and ultimately as individuals. I had the pleasure of spending the weekend and the beginning of this week with in Auckland at the show where we had an absolute blast talking all things edible cups and the future plans for Twiice. We meet lots of current customers, new customers and new distributors and it has gotten me very excited about future and I’m humbled to be able to play a part. 😎

AD|GIFT 🍸 Tomorrow Is World Gin Day and Friday Nights Call For G&T’s 🔥

All these world days are getting a bit much but when it involves coffee, gin, rum or whiskey for that matter. I’m all about them. 😜
•
Introducing this delicious citrus gin from the wonderful husband and wife team behind .nz 👋🏻.
Some of you here will be accustomed to Humdinger but I reckon most of you here aren’t. So allow me to briefly introduce you to them. 👋🏻
•nz are a small batch distillery based in .nz right here in Canterbury, New Zealand. They are hidden away down the Geraldine Laneways and create some pretty delicious - SELL OUT - gins. I came across Humdinger a while back while visiting the here in CHCH. 👌🏻
•
A couple of months back when me and my wife were on our Motorhome road trip we spent our last night in Geraldine. When arriving at the holiday park I saw a big poster advertising .nz and said to myself “I recognise that bottle and branding.” 😲 I read the sign some more and the address said ‘Geraldine .’ It took me a few seconds to register that last word and when I did I instantly jumped onto google to see what time they closed - 4:30 pm. Looked at the time and I had 2 hours to go before they closed. I locked the van and ran into the local town as fast as I could. 🏃‍♂️💨 I arrived at the distillery had a look around before Andrew appeared and asked if I wanted to sample some gins - to which I said “OF COURSE.” 😂
•
Andrew, served me some gins and recognised me as The Drumming Barista. Which was very humbling. We got talking, exchanged notes on the samples, then sampled a few more drops. A few gins later followed by some awesome yarns I got to see the still close up and left with a bottle of citrus gin. 🤤
•
That day I left with more than a bottle of gin. I left with a new found working relationship, inspiration and motivation for the NZ spirits industry and how it can change peoples lives like Andrew and his Wife Saskia in such a short space of time. 🤩 I also left with a deeper fire in my belly for TDB and how this platform can help raise awareness for many brands and businesses no matter their location.

Hey friends. Happy Thursday. Wanted to let you all know that I’m still alive and kicking and drinking coffee. Since returning back from Taipei it’s been a full on week of follow ups and admin haha. The coffee content will begin again from Monday next week. ☕️
•
This morning I opened this beauty that I bought from a few backs. I bought it the day it was roasted which was awesome as it had time to degas and age while I was away overseas. I had a brew this morning and let me tell you I think it’s going to be my favourite coffee that will put out this year. This is a tasty number and through the V60 it’s gives you all the sweetness you would expect from an Ethiopian accompanied with a warm sticky honey mouthfeel. 🤤 I am getting this beauty dialled in ready for recording content over the weekend and then showcasing it to you all next week. 🎥

AD ☕️ A subtle coffee is a good coffee ☕️

I’ve had a lot of fun drinking this coffee from the team during the week. I didn’t get around to posting enough reels for as I would like but the week kind of got away from me. 😂

•
What I will say is this coffee was a joy to drink. It was kind of what I was expecting to be, I did hope for a little more funk, but - it was still a delicious coffee and very much happy that I quickly came to the realisation that I enjoyed it as an immersion brew. I will continue to enjoy this in the background over the weekend and can’t wait to see what else brings to the market this year. ☕️

Back in November C4 Coffee Co.]] dropped what became my 2nd favourite coffee of 2022. It was a a Lactic Natural fermentation - what does mean exactly - well in simple home barista terms, over the top triple handling of coffee that leads to a an insanely, fruity, syrupy, tropical fruits, summer vibes bag of coffee. ☀️Basically your coffee will taste like pineapple juice. 🍍🥰

On March 15th they dropped an email newsletter letting us all know that it has returned as a super limited edition and I was lucky enough to grab a bag before it all sold out in what was about 2 hours time hahaha. C4 Coffee Co.]] really know how to do the whole limited edition coffee fomo thing hahaha. 🤩
•
I don’t tend to buy the same coffee twice as over the years, I’ve had the second bag and been left a bit disappointed as the roast profile has changed and or something just wasn’t the same as the first time round. But through getting to know C4 Coffee Co.]] and their seriously passionate, highly trained coffee loving team (and through a little tip off from one of their roasters) I knew I had to grab a second bag and man I’m so glad I did. It’s exactly how I remembered it and it’s started my weekend off on a high and it’s safe to say, this bag is not going to hang around long. 🤤🥰🤪☀️

AD ☕️ For some of you it may not come as a surprise that lately I have been making a bit of noise about supermarket coffee. This is because the options are becoming better and with current courier delays (it may just be seeing this) it’s a bit easier to grab coffee from the supermarket. Is it fresher than grabbing it direct from the roaster - NO. But is it currently easier for me (the everyday coffee drinker) to grab it while doing my weekly shop - YES. Hmmm. Maybe I should sign up to a coffee subscription? 🤔

Anyways a good friend of mine Leon Dumper] told me that I should give L'affare] AMP’D Fruit supermarket ‘SINGLE-ORIGIN’ a hoon. So, during my latest weekly shop Durham Street - (who in my opinion has the best coffee selection of all supermarkets through CHCH) I grabbed a box and put it in my trolley. 😎
•
It’s been a very long time since I’ve had a L'affare] coffee on my bench - come to think of it this might be the first one ever. But I am excited to give it a try. Leon Dumper] has guided me down a couple of coffee paths lately that have been good times and so I can’t wait to get stuck in.

I’m taking a break from creating my usual coffee content this week as I am away on holiday, but I will be sure to save a small amount so I can bring some thoughts forward for you guys next week. 🥰

AD ☕️ Welcoming .coffee_nz to my home coffee bench ☕️

This NZ micro roastery has been on my radar for sometime after having them recommended to me by a couple of legends of the industry. 🥰 So, I finally got around to treating myself to a bag of coffee (yes I still buy coffee) and picked up the Panama single-origin that Eternal Coffee had on offer. If the Panama’s I’ve had over the years are anything to go by, I know that this is going to be a time. 🤤
•
Who is .coffee_nz ? Good question. Eternal Coffee was founded in 2021 by the legend who got awarded runner up and best newcomer in the 2022 New Zealand Barista Championships. 🎉 He created Eternal Coffee through a love of roasting coffee to his liking and so wanted to share that with the wider community. He is on a mission to break down the boundaries of speciality coffee and everyday home barista and coffee lovers like us - which I am totally here for and speaks volumes to me as The Drumming Barista. 🥰

2022 has been awesome for so many reasons, way too many to cover in this post, but 2023 is going to be even better. Excited for some international travel. But most of Dreaming big, staying motivated, staying focused, staying connected, staying open and continuing to learn and better myself everyday. 🤙🏻I’ve come to realise being comfortable in my creative mind and spaces becomes boring very quickly. It’s time to do what the underside of my X gloves tells me - LIVE WITHOUT BARRIERS! 🌎

🥃 @scapegrace Rise Limited Edition 🥃 When your best mate sends you a belated birthday present that consists of 1 bottle of the limited edition single malt whisky from the incredible @scapegrace distillery. This isn’t just any type of whisky. It is one that will challenge the best of the best and your mind and palate as to what whisky can be. Flavour notes on the bottle are Cinnamon, Clove, Vanilla and Buttered Toast. Yeah, buttered toast. Sounds crazy right. But when you drink it and all those flavours come together it makes total sense. On the nose is Cinnamon and Vanilla, on the palate is the most creamy mouthfeel that is sweet and lingering with a short burst of spice from the clove that really makes your brain sense the buttered toast. This is a mind bending whisky, but one I am so excited to drink and enjoy. This would be fantastic in a cocktail, but in my personal opinion it would be a crime to mix a whisky this good with other flavours/spirits. ☕️ KŪ and AeroPress Coffee Maker 💙 Another delicious brew with this fantastic geisha from Panama roasted by the team at Zeku Coffee and Coffee Tech ☕️ I used my Able Brewing Equipment disc today to add some extra body and depth to the brew which it achieved but not as much as I had hoped. What I love about this particular geisha is that it is super subtle and not hugely in your face which is exactly what Hanna the creator of KŪ Coffee wanted to achieve. Coffee that is accessible and delicious for everyone no matter what. This is a truly fantastic starting point for anyone who has never had a geisha coffee before. Today we are playing with the Timor-Leste single origin and seeing what it is all about. Be sure to watch the video to hear my thoughts on this coffee. Recipe I used was 4g of powder with 200g of water. But the main recipe I have landed on for this coffee is 2.5g of powder with 250g of water.
