According to an old Native American legend, one day there was a big fire in the forest. All the animals fled in terror in all directions, because it was a very violent fire. Suddenly, the jaguar saw a hummingbird pass over his head, but in the opposite direction. The hummingbird flew towards the fire!

Whatever happened, he wouldn't stop. Moments later, the jaguar saw him pass again, this time in the same direction as the jaguar was walking. He could observe this coming and going, until he decided to ask the bird about it, because it seemed very bizarre behavior.
"What are you doing, hummingbird?" he asked.

"I am going to the lake," he answered, "I drink water with my beak and throw it on the fire to extinguish it." The jaguar laughed. 'Are you crazy? Do you really think that you can put out that big fire on your own with your very small beak?'

'No,' said the hummingbird, 'I know I can't. But the forest is my home. It feeds me, it shelters me and my family. I am very grateful for that. And I help the forest grow by pollinating its flowers. I am part of her and the forest is part of me. I know I can't put out the fire, but I must do my part.'

At that moment, the forest spirits, who listened to the hummingbird, were moved by the birdie and its devotion to the forest. And miraculously they sent a torrential downpour, which put an end to the great fire.

The Native American grandmothers would occasionally tell this story to their grandchildren, then conclude with, "Do you want to attract miracles into your life? Do your part.

“You have no responsibility to save the world or find the solutions to all problems—but to attend to your particular personal corner of the universe. As each person does that, the world saves itself.’"

People usually think that progress consists in the increase of knowledge, in the improvement of life, but that isn't so.

Progress consists only in the greater clarification of answers to the basic questions of life. The truth is always accessible to a man...because a man's soul is a divine spark, the truth itself. It's only a matter of removing from this divine spark, everything that obscures it. Progress consists, not in the increase of truth, but in freeing it from its wrappings. The truth is obtained like gold, not by letting it grow bigger, but by washing off from it everything that isn't gold.

While the future is forever uncertain, artificial intelligence seems to have its existence imprinted in the times approaching. The timeline feels to be closing in at an eerily rate. Man will not be so concerned about questioning the nature of reality but rather his place in it. All the current hysteria surrounding AI art, AI filters, AI voice generation, does not simply raise the question of what will be real but does it actually matter. Was the internet/social media a real place before? Has reality not been reduced to small black screens already?

Man merging with machines is not a lofty transhumanist idea that begins with a chip implanted into the base of the skull. It is the slow integration of technology replacing what we perceive as real and reducing what it is to be human. The spirit of humanity is in conflict with the way things are heading, many feel the soul dampening effects already. As the world is being shifted into the paradigm of pixels only those who are not absorbed into hyper materialism will care for what is real and authentic.

“We must eradicate from the soul all fear and terror of what comes towards Mankind, out of the future. We must look forward with absolute equanimity to whatever comes, and we must think only that whatever comes is given us by a world direction full of wisdom. It is part of what we must learn during this age, namely to act out of pure trust in the ever present help of the spiritual world; truly nothing else will do if our courage is not to fail us. Therefore let us discipline our will, and let us seek the awakening from within ourselves, every morning and every evening.” - Rudolf Steiner; ‘Facing the Future’

Unlearning Death

When we die, they may bury us or collect our ashes, but remember this: from baby teeth to skin cells and everything in between, most of the matter that has worn your name is already spread throughout the world. We bury our remains in the soil of our lifetimes.

Can you feel it? So many of the cells that have formed the mosaic of your body have returned to nature. Most of the water that has fueled your life has returned to the sea. The substance of your form is not fixed. It flows like a river to and from the wilderness.

Moss doesn't think about being alive and mountains don't consider themselves to be dead. Death has no place in the vocabulary of nature. To worry about death is to forget that we, the moss, and the mountains are all part of an undiminished whole that isn't measured in breaths.

🕳 🏃‍♂️

At the bottom of the abyss comes the voice of salvation. The black moment is the moment when the real message of transformation is going to come. At the darkest moment comes the light.

We have immersed ourselves in a welter of Self-Help books and teachers, allowing other people to sell us superficial techniques to quickly lead to authenticity. The plethora of works on self-development, mindfulness, yoga and exotic meditation indicate that dissatisfaction exists with what is normally experienced in life.

Something more real is being sought by an increasing demographic.

But again, none of these books and teachers, adept as they may be in certain areas, deal with the all-important question of ancestral trauma. Even the great works of philosophy and psychology do no justice to the subject.

This is a critical oversight, personal trauma derives from parents who probably experienced trauma from their parents who were also traimatized by theirs.

This vicious cycle of pain, grief, anger and defilement has a very long etiology. This is why the problem of present personal trauma cannot be considered independently of ancient collective trauma.

- Michael Tsarion, (Dragon Mother; A New Look At The Female Psyche)

“It is one thing to know and understand what happened in the past, but quite another to realize that those remote events still influence our thoughts, sensations and behavior…the suppressed trauma of humanity is still etched in our subconscious and influences us in everyday life.”
- Lynn E. Rose (Mankind in Amnesia)

After the year 2000 will have passed, it won’t be long before thinking will be forbidden. A law will proceed from America with the purpose of suppressing all individual thinking…

…A start in this direction has been made by purely materialistic medicine today where the soul no longer is permitted to act and where, merely on the basis of the external experiments, the human being is treated like a machine.

~ Rudolf Steiner (1917)

“And a man sat alone
drenched in deep sadness.
And all the animals drew near to him and said:
We do not like to see you so sad…
Ask us for whatever you wish and you shall have it.
The man said:
I want to have good sight.
The vulture replied:
You shall have mine.
The man said:
I want to be strong.
The jaguar replied:
You shall be strong like me.
The man said:
I long to learn the secrets of the earth.
The serpent replied:
I will show them to you.
And so it went with all of the animals.
And when the man had all the gifts that they could give…..he left.
Then the owl said to the other animals:
Now the man knows much and is able to do many things….Suddenly I am scared.
The deer said:
The man has all that he needs now his sadness will stop..
But the owl replied :
No….I saw a hole in the man…deep like a hunger he will never fill.
It is what makes him sad and what makes him want.
He will go on taking and taking….
Until one day the world will say: I am no more and I have nothing left to give.”

Be well, love each other, be kind, farm, garden, watch the horizon, never stop learning, and remember, the truth won't set you free. We're not here to be free; we're here to work, to struggle, to love, to fight, to surrender, to fight again, to laugh, cry, and again, and always... and you can never say it enough or live it enough: to love and keep your heart full of the lives of others.

You can explore the depths all day long - which is a joy for philosophers (and I must be one, because the depths are my favorite places - asking questions: "Sure, I can see the surface, but what's underneath? And what's underneath that? What makes it work? What makes the thing that makes that work..work??" And on we go.

But at a certain point, we are a mammal that eats and drinks and must find protection from the night and nature's barbs, and a tribe to belong to.

And then... someday, we all must let it go, and give into the thing that we cannot name, that I'll simply call mystery.

Thank you for traveling with me, friends, enemies, dear loves, hard critics....members of this tribe of human beings, while we're here, before we are bathed again in the glow of the cosmic mystery.
