Supreme Court upholds land acquisition in Noida, Greater Noida

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld land acquisition that was done in Noida and Greater Noida by the respective local authorities between 2006 and 2009, bringing relief to thousands of home buyers but dealing a blow to farmers.

The apex court dismissed all petitions that were filed against land acquisition in the area by farmers and said that no land will be returned back.

In the process, the court upheld an earlier order by the Allahabad High Court which had also said that land will not be given back to farmer but had asked the two authorities to raise the compensation amount by 64.7% and also give 10% of developed land to farmers.

Farmers had later protested against this and had asked for their land back, filing petitions against the land acquisition.

This latest order by the SC brings major relief to lakhs of home buyers who have bought apartments in the Noida Extension and other surrounding areas in Noida and Greater Noida but were uncertain about their future. There are close to 100 projects in the area, many of which are at an advanced stage of construction.

नोएडा। डीएमआरसी ने नोएडा-ग्रेटर नोएडा मेट्रो रूट का टेंडर जारी कर दिया है। 14 जनवरी को बिड खुलेगी। 15 मार्च से निर्माण शुरू करने की तैयारी है। एनएमआरसी के कार्यकारी निदेशक व प्राधिकरण के वित्त नियंत्रक जीपी सिंह की अध्यक्षता में बुधवार को बैठक हुई। जीपी सिंह ने बताया कि ग्रेनो मेट्रो नोएडा सिटी सेंटर के बजाय सेक्टर-71 से ही जाएगी। बैठक में डीएमआरसी की तरफ से प्रोजेक्ट डायरेक्टर परमीत गर्ग ने बताया कि रूट के निर्माण के लिए 600-600 करोड़ रुपये के तीन टेंडर जारी कर दिए गए हैं। 15 फरवरी तक औपचारिकता पूरी कर ठीक एक माह बाद निर्माण शुरू कर दिया जाएगा।
