I just published a public version of Zen Dragon Isle Dragon. It’s a peaceful isle where you can relax and listen to the waves and seagulls. Hangout and relax alone or with a couple friends. Enjoy a meal in one of the side buildings—they might make you hungry, though, particularly if you like Chinese hot pot soups. Or parkour onto the roof of the pagoda to meet and ride on the sea dragon.

I’ve made some updates and just republished Shards’ World dragon.
—There’s a new spawn-in location in an underground chamber, and you’ll be able to either go straight to the Crystal Cavern (to get low gravity) or to the Pagoda Temple from there.
—Trivia in the Cave. There’s an achievement in the cave hangout for spending 10 minutes having a conversation with a friend there. I’ve added some dragon trivia there to help pass that time. Just grab the tablet to start—directions are on the tablet.
—The Pagoda Temple now has teleports to move between the floors. This makes it more accessible to those who teleport rather than slide. Before you had to parkour up the side of the Pagoda to move between the floors.
—The dragon rider leaderboard will be reset monthly (and has just been reset.) Everytime I reset the board (on the 1st of each month), I’m adding the top three riders’ usernames to the VIP list for access to Zen Dragon Isle. The next time they return to Shards’ World, they’ll be granted VIP access to Zen Dragon Isle. How long can you ride the dragon?
—Zen Dragon Isle is a peaceful and temperate private isle just off the coast. A water dragon watches over its quaint temple. Parkour to the temple rooftop to get low gravity; its a fairly short jump to get onto the dragon’s back from there. If you’re hungry, there’s a light meal in each of the temple’s side buildings. Or just have tea in the center building. Then hangout on the beach and enjoy the setting sun. Those who 1) complete all the achievements in Shards’ World dragon, 2) purchase 500 kudos or more in any of my worlds that have Kudos boards, or 3) are one of the top three riders on the dragon rider leaderboard when its reset, will be given VIP access to Zen Dragon Isle. Once you have access, you will be able to access doors to Zen Dragon Isle through the second floor of the Pagoda Temple in Shards’ World, the cave in Raven’s Canyon at Night, or the top floor “More Doors” room in the Mountain Lodge in Winter world. And then while you are on Zen Dragon Isle, your friends will be able to join you and enjoy the entire island as well.

Last night, I was going through and cleaning out some of my old draft world, and I came upon some old clones of Raven’s Canyon. Then I recalled John McLay talking about publishing old versions of Train Destiny so people could see its evolution, and I thought I could do that with the canyon. So I did If you would like to see the original canyon in daylight, or the pre-mesh canyon at twilight, you can find their doors in the cave in Raven’s Canyon at Night.

The original canyon had no textures, no mesh, no hangout area, and really odd clouds. And I didn’t know how to use trig to script the trailFX vortexes, so they were hand animated.

The twilight version has the old log cabin and an outhouse (beware of the snake), and adirondack chairs that I hand-crafted from primitives. I had a friend recently tell me that he preferred this version to the current one.

All three worlds will give you a glimpse into my progression as a builder and Horizon’s progression as it continues to evolve. Would love to see other builders do something similar with one of their worlds.

I’ve been rearranging More Doors. All the non-hub world doors on the outskirts now will dynamically spawn in when you enter the visual FX near some of the outer pink discs. The spawning cuts down, by roughly half, the number of doors in the world when a session is spun up. That, in turn, helps make the world more performant so it can render all the doors in a reasonable amount of time, and so that it is much more likely not break your menu (I’ve experienced that too many doors in a world can break both menus and doors). All the doors on the central hub with the throne are hub worlds. Most are creators’ hubs (and I’m always looking for more creators’ hubs to add).

I've been attending WaffleCopter's zoom classes for a while (he makes them accessible through Horizon House of Waffles). A few weeks ago he shared a TypeScript project called Mesmerize Metronomes with us. I thought it was such a cool simulation that I decided it really needed to be made into a 3D world in Horizon. So I created it, and just published it. He was very gracious in helping to tune the oscillation variables in order to create the ephemeral, recurring patterns. This world currently holds up to 20 people, though I think I might also like to visit it in a private session for some quiet, mind-clearing, mesmerizing mediation.

Just added some updates and republished the Valentines Date Night Hub. Added doors to new Valentine-themed worlds (there are some beautiful new ones this year). Have some sparkling wine and chocolate in privacy with a friend, ride a gondola and swan paddleboat, and then start your date night world hop.
Will continue to search for and add more world doors over the next couple days. Stop in and check it out, and then let me know if you have any worlds that I’ve missed.

We REALLY miss our bookmarks list in the Horizon menu. Jimmyhood decided to make his own hub world with his favorites, since he can’t access them through his menu anymore. And now everyone can enjoy this wonderful collection of worlds by some very talented creators. It’s a wonderful place to start a world hop. Check it out.

Just found this YouTube feature of Mountain Lodge in Winter. This was the second world I built in Horizon, during the closed beta. Was first published a year ago, and I’ve been updating it a bit this month with a few of the new mesh assets.

I just published Lava Canyon Parkour in beta. Grapple your way through a vast volcanic landscape (just don’t fall in the lava!) Or find a hangout to simply observe/listen to the game.

The game itself is from the City Parkour template that Meta Horizon released after Connect 2022 (thanks Vu and team!). I plan to make more of these worlds, ‘cause they’re just fun. If you’re a creator with a parkour world and you’d like to share doors, please add MetaWisp as a tester. If you are also using the game in the template and need any help configuring the achievements, let me know.

Parkour through a volcanic landscape, but be careful not to fall in the lava! Race to see who can find grab the most coins. Or just hang out in the hang outs (can you find them all?)

I’ve been working on a new parkour world that uses the mechanics from the City Parkour template. If you try to use this template, be sure to build mostly with the world turned off and reset. The grapples attach and stay with you when you enter the world. They hide and their pieces stay in the same area where you return to build mode. I accidentally selected and deleted parts of them late last night. Will be fixing that today, then testing, and hopefully publishing soon. And I’ll be making more of these parkour worlds, ‘cause they’re simply loads of fun.

We have a little visitor in Raven’s Canyon. Must be looking for some early Halloween treats. You can throw him off the canyon rim and he’ll fly around like the paper airplanes and birds, though he’s a bit more acrobatic. Will share him with anyone who takes their pic with him in world. I’m sure he’d love to look for treats in other worlds as well.

Decided to visit Shard’s World on my PC. The quality of pictures taken on my PC is so much better than photos taken in the headset.
