💞This is for my ladies! Long post but please read. . .💞

Yesterday I attended a training and something was said that really resonated in me. I have heard this several times but it's one of those things you hear over and over but you don't REALLY hear it until it clicks 🫰. You know what I mean?!?!

💯"What good are you to your family if you are not your best self?"💯

As a wife and mother we often put the needs of our family before our own. Our child's needs take priority. Our husband's happiness is more important than our own. We often times forget our own needs and wants and focus on the needs of our spouse and children. And there is nothing wrong with focusing on our family’s wants and needs but we cannot lose ourselves in the process.

If you are one of these women I mentioned above I know you, I hear you, I see you. Unfortunately, as women we often put ourselves last until it is almost too late. We don't focus on ourselves until we get that bad doctor's report or realize that we are so miserable that it is affecting others. We wear ourselves out taking care of others or putting others needs in front of our own that we don't realize what we are doing to ourselves mentally and physically.

See I know you, I hear you, I see you because I was you. Last May when I was diagnosed with diabetes it forced me to take a hard look in the mirror. I thought I was doing the right thing for my family because I was taking care of them but as a result I was not taking care of myself mentally or physically. I was run down, beat down, tired and pretty much an all round miserable person.

And over the course of the last year I have slowly but surely started to find myself again. What you notice from looking at the picture below is the weight loss, but what I see is so much more than that. I see someone who has started to love herself again. I see someone who is learning her value. I see someone who
is slowly realizing that statement that I have heard over and over again is so true. I have to invest in me before I can invest in others and be the best version of myself. I still find myself being guilty for taking time for me and investing in myself but yesterday reminded me that not only is it something I need to do, it's something I must do!

I say all of this to say that it's not selfish to take care of yourself. It's not selfish to prioritize yourself. It's not selfish to speak up for your needs and wants. In all reality you are doing yourself and your family a disservice by not making yourself a priority.

I almost want to cry looking at that first photo. I was the heaviest I have ever been. This was taken on our cruise in July. I was tired all the time and just overall very unhealthy.

The week after that cruise I started on one of the shots for diabetes. I had horrible side effects. Vomiting, loss of hair, mood swings, nausea, insomnia. You name it I experienced it. I tried to find ways over the next several months to justify what I was putting my body through. I mean the weight was coming off and at the time honestly that was all I was thinking about.

I lost 50 pounds from July to January. But then the scale stopped moving but all the nasty side effects were still there. I also started reading up on the long term effects of the shots and decided I had to find a better option.

As you all know Brack started his weight loss journey in December with the hormone balancing drops. And to be completely honest I was a little salty about how he was loosing it without putting his body through the touture that I was putting mine through.
