My good friend visited me.
Happy New Month.

Happy birthday to the best mom (and grandma!) who seems to grow more joyful and youthful each year đđ
Family and friends.
Stories help us contextualize the past, present, and future. I highly recommend this series of 26 short stories focused on our relationship to the climate. Itâs by an author I admire, Elizabeth Kolbert, whose books âUnder A White Skyâ and âThe Sixth Extinctionâ are must-reads.
My Dad.
I was able to visit The Library of Congress and met with the Libarian of Congress, Dr. Carla Hayden. Itâs one of the coolest places Iâve been in a while. I spent time doing some of my favorite things: reading and learning.
My Dad.
I was blown away by Dr. Nonhanhla Yende-Zumaâs story. She grew up in a place where it was considered a waste of time to go to school â but that didnât stop her from earning top grades in math and eventually earning her Ph.D. in statistics. Now sheâs using her expertise at CAPRISA, providing clinicians with data-driven insights on integrating TB and HIV treatment.
My dad taught me a lot of things, including how to hit a mean âdinkâ in pickleball. He was good friends with the families who invented pickleball out on Bainbridge Island and one of the sportâs original players. I think he wouldâve gotten a kick out of seeing how popular the sport has become.
My Dad.
We each have the power to change the world. đ
Itâs Giving Tuesday, and today we celebrate the opportunity to support the fight for a more equitable world. We encourage you to donate to organizations that are pursuing advances in global health, gender equality, education, and more. Every penny sums up to great change!
Good News for us.
Thanksgiving is a time to remember and embrace those who enrich our life. I may be thankful for a lot of things, but mostly, I am thankful to have you.
Iâve done some weird crap over the years: I drank water from f***l sludge with Jimmy Fallon, shared the stage with a jar of human f***s, and smelled pit latrine odor.
These antics got a few laughs, but my goal has always been to get people to care about an issue that impacts 3.6 billion people: poor sanitation. Thanks to scientists and engineers from around the world, weâre getting closer to new solutions that will prevent disease and illness.
When it comes to alleviating the impacts of climate change on smallholder farmers, the goal should not simply be giving more food aid. It should be to ensure no aid is needed in the first place.
More than 670,000 children die from pneumonia every year. It doesnât have to be this way. I met researchers at Inventprise who are working to protect children against this threat.
I often get asked how I read so many books every year. This is how.
My Dad.
As the weather transitions back to its cool, mostly rainy state in Seattle, Iâm reflecting on the times I got to spend outside this summer. Hereâs to sâmore nights like this one.
My Dad
Reaching net-zero emissions will be the hardest thing humanity has ever done, and it will require unprecedented collaboration across all parts of society. Spending the past few days at the Breakthrough Energy Summit has left me with an increased sense of hope that together we can accelerate the clean energy transition and avoid a climate disaster.
My Dad
The U.S. has gone many years without a polio virus case, so it was shocking to hear polio had re-emerged in New York. Ending polio everywhere is a top priority for the Gates Foundation and partners like Rotary International.
Dr. Pardis Sabetiâs approach to disease surveillance is truly remarkable.
Itâs remarkable how much power one good person can have in shaping the life of a child. This , Iâm thinking about Mrs. Caffiere. She was the school librarian at Seattleâs View Ridge Elementary. When my Dad was 9 years old, she took my Dad under her wing and taught his love for reading was a strength. To this day, I think about how she changed my Dad life.
Travels, trails, togetherness. đđ
Youre my favourite younger sister.
A little sister who never goes unnoticed.
Youre sometimes crazy but always fabulous, sis.
Youll always be a little princess, sis.
Youre younger and funnier than me, sis.
Youre still not showing your age, little sis.
Happy Birthday, Phoebe. Iâm so proud of you
Seven years ago, world leaders agreed to 17 ambitious goals to create a more equitable world by 2030. The 2022 Goalkeepers report is an essential update on the worldâs progress â here are some of the key updates:
Despite the challenges facing our global community, this year's Goal keepers 2030 report shows that we can save lives through human ingenuity and innovation.
We've triumphed over difficult odds beforeâwe can do it again.
The joy of been together with my Mom.
Weâre all human and having different human
experiences, yet there is something so universal
about the way we all experience hardship,
growth, love and joy in our lives. Being receptive
to learning about othersâ experiences, regardless
of what theyâre pursuing, will help me be a better
physician in the future and continue to do my
part in the world.
The most generous people in the world arenât philanthropists writing big checks. Rather, itâs the everyday givers who use whatever resources they haveâsuch as their time, talent, and voiceâto serve others. Anyone can be a giver.
I was honored to teach this class on impactful giving with Master Class. I hope it inspires you to take the nextâor firstâstep on your giving journey.
My Mom.
Happy Sunday to you all.
thanks fluff & hudson for a safe mother- daughter week trail ride
Cant forget this day.
Babyl is transforming medical care for Rwandans by connecting them with providers at the tap of a mobile phone.
Under Dr. Shivon Byamukama's leadership, Babyl has provided more than 3 million appointments, and they've even been able to help monitor COVID patients remotely.
Our conversation left me feeling fired up for the future of digital care.
Mom thank you for what you are doing
Gates acknowledged the stellar role Abe played in focusing attention on healthcare.
