Soon after joining as EVP of Public Affairs, Sean Kennedy found himself leading an unexpected and unprecedented effort to drive government support of an industry devastated by the COVID pandemic. He brought to the task a set of tools honed over a career that spanned the U.S. House (as Legislative Director to Democratic Leader Dick Gephardt), U.S. Senate (as Chief of Staff to Senator Claire McCaskill), White House (as Special Assistant for Legislative Affairs to President Obama), and the private sector.

When Kermitt Brooks left corporate law to join the New York State Office of the Attorney General, he intended to stay for only a few years. Instead, he continued to work in government for over a decade, serving in the Attorney General's Office and the New York State Insurance Department. Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski has seen how government functions from all angles – as an advocate, a staffer, and now as an elected official. She has worked in the labor movement, as a staffer for , and as Chief of Staff of the Office of Management and Budget in the Biden White House.

Staffers like Emma and Zachery – dedicated, hard-working, professional – are essential to our democracy. Both lives were taken far too soon, as was Rep. Walorski’s. Their selfless work will not be forgotten.
