Comparison of two methods for estimating energy storage efficiency in phytoplankton photosynthesis

The aim of the present study was to compare our novel, photoacoustics-based method with an oxygen-evolution–based calculation of photosynthetic energy storage. We also illustrate and discuss the use of photoacoustics for generating photosynthesis versus energy relationship curves.

Heavy metal concentration and public health risk in consuming Sardinella maderensis (Sardine), Sarotherodon melanotheron (Tilapia), and Liza falicipinis (Mullet) harvested from Bonny River, Nigeria.

The objectives of the study are to determine the heavy metal concentrations in three fish species and also to compare the heavy metal concentration in dry and wet seasons.

Spatial variability in autumnal equatorial upwelling intensity within the Gulf of Guinea as inferred from in situ measurements.

In attempt to study the spatial differences in autumnal equatorial upwelling intensity relative to bioproductivity in the eastern equatorial Atlantic, oceanographic in situ data along regions 10°W, 0°E, 2.5°E and 6°E, collected in the Gulf of Guinea during autumn cruise carried out in September 2007 were analyzed.

Evidence for enhanced chlorophyll-a levels in the Bay of Bengal during early north-east monsoon.

To understand the chlorophyll-a distribution in the neritic waters of the northern Indian Ocean, which comprises the Arabian Sea on the west and the Bay of Bengal on the east, seawater samples were collected during early north-east monsoon season.

Recruitment pattern and catch per unit effort of the Black Tiger Shrimp (Penaeus monodon) in Andoni River System, Niger Delta Region of Nigeria.

This paper aims at filling the knowledge gap on how recruitment of the black tiger shrimp relates with CPUE and temperature in Andoni River Systems, providing a baseline data for the exotic P. monodon in Andoni River Systems of Niger Delta region of Nigeria.
